Thanx Slinx and Rosie about Mum, she went back to the home on Sunday, the district nurse will be going in for the next 3 months to give her daily injections, to thin her blood. She is so tired all the time and a little confused. i dont think it helped her at all, being sent to hospital, the way they move people about, its awful. But one of those things I guess, just very sad for old people. me and the daughter went to manchester today, took us 2 hours to get there, with traffic on the m56, it normally takes between 15 and 20 minutes. there were a lot of people waiting, and what struck me as weird is that almost all of them were slim, some had just been banded and others waiting for their ops, whereas at one time it used to be a lot of bonny people. The lapband is becoming so popular, even as a preventative measure, which is great and good luck to all of them. Anyway Chris de vere took out 3mils for me, he said of course, when i asked him if he would. he had a lot of trouble finding the soft bit of the port once the needle was in, as my port has turned, God knows how. i KNOW IT WAS TILTED LAST TIME, BUT ITS MORESO THIS TIME(sorry for the caps) he said as you lose weight it seems harder to find!!!! The needle didnt hurt, it was all the pushing around that has left me feeling very sore indeed. But the acid went at once, oh joy!!!!!! my daughter had her 3 in and was delighted, bless, she has only lost 5lbs since the op, but she didnt eat much to start with and always ate healthily, poor lamb. Guess we're just the fat family. Anyway, girls take care of you all and i'm sorry I dont get here much, babysitting almost every day at my other daughters house, so dont get much time to be online.

Congrats to all those getting banded, just banded and the peeps who have lost loads xxx. Sammy dont fret sweetheart you know the weight will come off again. I know I'll put on a bit over xmas with having a de-fill on Thursday, I cant wait, cos this acid is driving me nutz!!! my daughter goes the same time to have her first fill and she cant wait either lol. I hope you two girlies who have flights booked, have discussed it with your fill person, cos flights over 3 or 4 hours do cause your band to tighten. Just worried about you both, cos you do need to drink plenty, and if the band tightens too much you wont be able to. Just be cautious. My Mum has been in hospital she now has DVT and is very confused, at 95 she doesnt need to be in hospital to traumatise her, which it always does. But the carers at the home were only doing their job, when they called an ambulance, they were worried cos Mum fell and they thought her leg was broken, luckily it wasnt but then the clot was spotted, so am so glad they were alert.

Great pix MummiesBB, you have done so well, in such a short time, well done you!!!! Update for the Whey protein that I have now been taking for a week, my tum seems to have settled down now, and it does help make me regular, which is a constant issue when you're not eating much. My weight has gone down by a pound, in that week, and the only thing I am doing different is the whey protien drink, so will stick with this and another plus is that I seem to have more energy. So glad Jane told me about it. I think it only has 100cals per glass when mixed with 200mls of water, and it does ensure that I'm getting all the protein that I need.

I hate when they update a website, supposedly for the better pffffft....I say if its not broke dont try to fix it. We now have less space for posting due to the adverts. But I spose having the adverts keeps the board free.

Thanx for asking about my daughter Slinx, she says she's only lost a pound, cos she is eating more than she used to eat before, she was on a constant diet. She's not disheartened though cos she knows when she starts her fills she will lose weight. We are both going to manchester on 9th December.

Laila My first fill was 6 weeks after surgery as my doc was away on holiday, then I had another 4 fills before I started to lose properly, that was July 2009 when I was over-filled, and brought me up to 6.5 mls in my band which holds between 9 and 12mls. I had a de-fill in October of 3mls, due to the fact that I was going away for 3 weeks and doing 10 flights. We travelled a bit lol. I then went for another fill in December 2009 which took me back up to 5.75 because freddie boy said he didnt want me to be over-filled again. This wasnt tight enough and by may I had gained over 8lbs so he put in another 0.25, bringing me up to 6mls. Then i had another 0.25 put in, at the same visit cos I got the water down ok, and I had asked to be back up to 6.5 and freddie told me to try the water after the fill and if I got it down then he would put the other 0.25 in. Are you bored yet???? I had another 0.5 put in a month later, then had to have it taken out again because of the acid reflux. In July of this year I had 0.25 back in, bringing me back to 6.5mls and now next month I am getting 3 taken out again, cos I feel quite run down and cant eat much and taking in fluids is harder still. If WLS had had a clinic in manchester when I started my fills I could have saved a mint, but alas they didnt. Acutally freddi was very good and gave me 3 free fills cos we couldnt get it right, which was really good of him, bless. I hope you can make head or tail of it hunny.

I could have sworn I replied to this a few days ago:unsure: I seem to have acid in my chest all the time, so I have resorted to a teaspoon full of vinegar, but the next morning it starts again :w00t: Cant wait to get my de-fill, 3 weeks today:thumbup: Meant to say Jane , whom I met in Belgium told me she has Whey Protein every day and it fills her up no end, and you know you're getting complete protein without all the calories. The first day, I struggled taking it with semi-skimmed milk, even though you only have 200/250 mls, to a scoop. It didnt want to go down, then I had stomach pains all afternoon, then needed the loo later on. (Sorry to be explicit):blushing: The next day (yesterday) I mixed it with cold water and was much better. So I'm going to keep on with this and see if my weight drops, Jane told me her mum takes it (not banded) and her skin is filling out nicely, hoping this will happen to me, cos I have so much loose skin, everywhere, cos of my age probably. Will let you know how I go.

I do agree with that, but if you cant get more than a 3rd of a cup down you, the only option is a slight de-fill. However I take multi vits to help compensate, because I cant eat fruit or drink smoothies that are basically fruit mushed. The band is such a learning curve, and I find mine is different each day in respect of what foods I can tolerate. I only have a stone to go to reach my target, but have decided to have a 3ml de-fill in December. I am going to enjoy Christmas this year and in the New Year will get the 3ml put back in, hopefully I wont have put on too many pounds. I have in 6.5 atm and my band holds between 9 and 12 mls, so I spose I am lucky. Last October I did the same as we went to the Far East and Australia, for 3 weeks, we did 10 flights in all, so I was a bit scared that my band would be too tight, it worked perfectly, I could eat anything (albeit very small portions) and drink wine with my meals,and had only gained 3lbs, by the December. Just hope it works out the same this year.

W8TYGIRL sounds to me like you can eat too much hun. I think a 3rd of a teacup is supposed to be the average meal consumption if you are filled to your sweet spot. Thats what written on my Bandster identity card. I understand the fear of being over=filled, had an episode like that last year. I sat up all night after the fill cos I couldnt even swallow my saliva, but it did ease off the next day, not a great deal, but at least I could swallow, and proceeded to lose 42lbs in the next couple of months. Pearce congratulations on losing so much weight in such a short time!!!!! Like Sammy has mentioned, as you lose weight on the outside, you also lose fat on the inside, so your band has loosened, it does happen. then you need another fill. Lol, the kids are so selfish aint they, wanting toys for xmas, tell them you need another fill and they have to cut back lol. nice that you'll be having another little boy to care for, hope all goes well.

Oh Sammy, thats exactly what will happen to me when I get my de-fill. Try to drink more coffee/tea/water see if that will fill you up. In a way I'm dreading it, but I havent eaten a nice meal since last December, missed out on all the bbq's and my grandaughters christening in the summer. But hey this is what I chose to do to lose weight, I'm not moaning, just want a break, thats the beauty of the band isnt it. WOW!! sammy size 14 jeans, brilliant!! Well done you, bet your fellas impressed with his gorgy wife.

Amazed, I shouldnt think that 4 weeks will be a problem, unless your port area is still very tender. My daughter has her first fill on 9th December, and she feels a little concerned atm, I told her its still a few weeks off yet and the incisions heal more and more with each day that passes. Besides its only a very fine needle, so no biggie, dont fret too much sweetheart, it will be a breeze.

The only fault was my daughter had her op at 5pm and was discharged at 12 noon the next day, we then had to drive back to the North West from Droitwich, and she was so weak, she really needed another day in hospital/hotel, but they didnt pay for that. I spose it depends where your friend has to travel to and from. That surgeon puts the port just under the breasts in between to be exact, and it never moves, not like when they put it in your tum. My daughter paid more than that, so they must have dropped the price with all the competition.

Thanx Sammy, I've told her, but we are both booked in with Chris for December, she may use them next year she says. Yes I've heard of the H Group....my other daughter was banded with them, and so was Jane, who's just joined here, by Mr Audun Sigurdsson They were more expensive than the Spire/Bupa when I got my band, dont know what they charge now.

Hi Sammy, hope you lose the reflux,babe, its horrible. Thats great info about WLS, I'll pass it on to my daughter, she works in Manchester. I've only got 6.5mls in my band which holds between 9 and 11, weird cos my restriction is good. Good luck girlies in all that you do.

Jersey Bean did you read what I wrote to Scooby about the exercising? Maybe you are losing inches and not pounds, with all the exercise you're doing? I did go through a stage when I just wasnt losing and wasnt eating much. That is so dis-heartening, I hated it and thought the same as you two did, that this band wasnt working for me. Can I just say what I do eat is minimal, I dont even eat a 3rd of a cup of food, (simply because I cant, it wont go down and if I do eat more then I vomit) but I do try to nibble a bit through the day, not always, but sometimes, that would be like a packet of quavers or a handful of peanuts.

Well done hunny, you are good. So how long is the mushy period for? My xmas present to myself is gonna be a de-fill of 3mls, then I can enjoy xmas, I think that it will do me good to have a rest and then start again in the new Year. I know I'll put on some weight, but also that it will come off again, ready for the summer. This band is so versatile I love it. Jane, does this quite often, she was telling me, but i had decided to do the xmas de-fill anyway. But she is living proof that it does work, after all she has lost 9 stone!!!! Ahh poor you, you are so good doing all that exercise, maybe you're building muscle, and you know muscle is heavier than fat dont you? That could be your answer. Dont work out so much , and dont go hill walking for a week and see what happens. Good luck sweetie

Scooby, how much have you got in, in total now? Like we say everyone is different, maybe you need a bit more in. If it were me I would mail your fill person and tell them how things are. I do hope it improves for you, and dont lose heart hunny. I know its difficult but if you stay on liquids for a few days your band should tighten all by itself. Try it if you can tolerate it and see what happens. Let us know chick xxx
