  1. Hi all,

I had my second fill one week ago tomorrow....still feel no restriction...called and scheduled another one for tomorrow since that will be my last chance to get one until March/April sometime. I just scheduled it with the office girl and am wondering if I should call and let them know I was just there a week ago. I would hate to drive the two hours to get there to have them tell me they couldn't/wouldn't do it! What do you think? I also wondered if maybe they would do it anyway if I didn't call since I had already driven the distance????

  2. Does anyone know how long the training is to do a fill? Specifically, I am wondering if one is already a nurse of a PA, how intensive is the training to do a fill? I am driving 3 hours one way, taking days off work for a 5 minute office call. I am confident that with the correct training my local medical professionals could do a fine job! Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

  3. Does anyone know how long the training is to actually do a fill? Specifically, I am wondering if one is already a nurse or a PA, what is the training to perform a fill? I am taking entire days off work, driving 3 hours for a fill that takes 5 minutes. I am entirely confident that with the correct training that my local med professionals could perform the fill and lessen my stress, time committment, etc...Thanks for any imput.

  4. Hello everyone, I have posted before but now I finally have a confirmed date--October 1!--Very excited and ready. My sister had the surgery 2 years ago and looks awesome! I had to go self-pay and that was another fiasco! took out a personal loan. WOW! banks are tough these days because of the economy. Felt like I had to sign away my first born! all in the past now, just looking ahead. Good luck to all. This is my 40th birthday gift to myself. Best wishes to all

  5. I am so on board with this one! I am scheduled for surgery on October 1st; my BMI is in the mid-30's range, and I am not ashamed in the least to admit it is for mainly cosmetic reasons. The health perks will be nice too, but let's be real! It's been a while since I turned a man's head and Victoria's Secret has been calling to me for years! I know how to lose the weight; it's the keeping it off, that's the b---h! Finally, a solution!

  6. I have a few questions regardng the surgeryloans.com website. How easy is it to get approved? I have a credit rating in the high 600's/low 700's depending on the agency. I applied online with them today and was told they will get back to me on Monday. Is this good or bad? (Nervous) Also, can anyone tell me the wait time with Dr. Kirshenbaum in Denver, i.e. how long is the wait from getting approved to the actual surgery date? Thanks for taking the time.

  7. Just an update on my progress or lack thereof. I completed my dietary eval. and my pre-bariatric surgery education class. I actually met a fellow lapbandtalk"er" at the class. Hello "aprettyface"! It was good to put a face to a name. It was a long couple of days in Lincoln by myself. A girl always thinks it will be so nice to have some time to herself but when it comes down to it, it's a little too quiet! Anyway, I'm home again, but I will be returning to Lincoln (2 hours away) on Monday for my psychological exam. Check another hoop off my list! I'm looking forward to an early August surgery date, but have heard nothing so far. Nothing too earth-shattering to speak of! Just taking this experience one day at a time. Take care, everyone!

  8. I debated on whether or not to tell, and I've decided that people are going to find out sooner or later. My kids are not great secret-keepers, and they know, so my whole small town will know eventually. I've decided not to stress about it. Someone on this board told me "you cannot live your life by committee" Love that advice! The only person I needed to approve this decision was my husband. He is behind me 100%! I've told my mother-in-law, and she, true to fashion, told my father-in-law and my sister-in-law. It's o.k. They all want the best for me. The only ones I kind of worry about are my co-workers. One of them has recently lost 65 pounds the "old-fashioned" way. I don't want to be judged by her. I just need to keep in mind that I am doing this for me. Thanks for listening!

  9. Hi all,

Not a lot of action on this thread, but I am going to post to update anyone and everyone who cares to browse. As I write this, I am sitting in a hotel room in Lincoln, NE. I just completed my dietician appointment and tomorrow I will go to the pre-bariatric education class also in Lincoln. My husband and I decided with the price of gas it would be cheaper for me to get a hotel for the night and he would stay home as my sons have ball games tomorrow. It has been so long since I have spent a night completely away from my family. It's SO QUIET! It's very surreal. Anyway, the dietician appt. was fine, she was so young! Spend about an hour with her and think I said all the right things. She didn't veto me anyway. I have a tendency to talk a lot when I am nervous and I always get a case of "too much information!" Oh well, all is well for now. Hope to hear back from someone. It's lonely here by myself!

  10. O.K. When the door gets closed you have to find a window.

*We tried to refinance the house, the appraiser told us we needed new shingles ($4,000)

*Gave the bank the titles to our vehicles to secure the loan for the shingles.

*Found out that we can't (or shouldn't) exceed 80% loan to value or we have to pay private mortgage insurance.

*Currently in the process of refinancing our house at a lower interest rate to save approximately $300/month.

*Thought there would be no problem securing a loan because we just saved ourselves $300/month RIGHT?!

*WRONG! We have no collateral to secure a personal loan for that amount of money because we gave the titles to our cars for the shingle loan.

    TIME TO GET CREATIVE!

*Called the bank and asked if the collateral had to be mine--answer: NO!

*Called my brother and asked if I could use his vehicle title to secure this loan--answer: YES!

*LOVE MY BROTHER! planning to take him out for many ice cold beers at his convenience!

    WHEW! What a ride!

Anyway, had first office visit today, got approved, made appts with dietician, pulmonologist, counselor, pre-bariatric surgery educator, and personal physician for physical.

Doctor says it should be no problem to schedule surgery before school begins in August

YEAH! It will all be worth it when I am 125 and shopping at Victoria's Secret!

  11. So glad to see your posts! I am going in tomorrow for my first appt. Finally got the financing issues out of the way for the most part and looking forward to losing about 75 pounds! My daughter graduates from HS this year (2009) and I soooooo don't want to be fat! Anyway my husband will be going with me to ask all the questions I don't want to know the answer to. I know all will turn out well. Hope to keep in touch!

  12. Hey everyone! Finally back home after a day of baseball games for both of my boys. Have to remember there is life outside of lapbands! Anyway, I think I finally have my financing issues out of the way, just had to think out of the box! Thank God for family! My first appt is tomorrow at 2:00. My husband will be going with me and he has informed me that he will be asking all the questions that I "conveniently" forget to ask, such as "What is the mortality of lapband procedures?" and "How many lapbands need to be removed on average?" As my husband says I will jump into the Water and not know if it's boiling or freezing! To which I always reply That's better than standing on the edge and sticking your toe in! Thank God we compliment each other. I think all will be well. Hope the same for all of you!

  13. I assume each of your husbands will be caring for you post banding? Mine does most of the cooking in the summer (lots of grilling) and is concerned about what he can make for me to eat. I'm sure that foods you can grill will not be included on my food plan. I also had to warn him that after my sister got her band, immediately after and lasting a few days, she looked like she had gained 20 pounds due to the gas the doctor inflated her abdomen with. Here's to looking forward to new experiences!

  14. I went with my sister to her seminar, I am wondering if that will count for mine. Probably not but it's worth a try. It's about a 2 hour drive to the doctor's office and seminar site but what's a little gas, right?! It will all be fine, I try not to sweat the small stuff.

I am a teacher and want to be banded before school starts in the fall. We'll see how fast the red tape can be cut. Once the money is in place, I look for it all to move pretty quickly.

  15. Good men are hard to find! My husband and I were high school sweethearts and always seem to be laughing. I tell him that men get better looking as they age, more distinguished, more established. Women just age and everything sags! I want more for myself and for him! I want him to be proud to stand beside me. I know he is but I also want to be proud of myself. This seems to be the only option, everyone knows diets don't work! Have you seen Kirstie Alley on the front cover of the Enquirer! I pointed it out to my husband and told him there's the proof that diets don't work for the long haul. As soon as you try to go back to a normal life, the pounds pile on!

  16. I thought it would be easier to get a loan than this. I am a 39-year old professional women, never without a job, own our home, no car payments, no credit card debt, high average FICO score, and you would think that I'm living on the streets panhandling what with all the red tape I'm jumping through. I am very determined and my poor husband knows this! Poor guy! In the end, more often that not I get my way! I hate the way that sounds but it's true (red face) We are moving some money around in regards to refinancing our home and combining an existing home improvement loan to lower our payments. We figure we will free up about $300/month for a payment for this miracle procedure (better be!!!!) 15 minute lag here (phone)

Wow! You must be good luck! I just got a call from the bank that my doctor deals with. I am going through the pre-approval process! She (loan officer) said everything looks good with my credit and she sees no problems! YEAH! Can't stop smiling!!!
