I'm a bit confused. Did you have revision, sleeve to bypass? You're showing marked as a sleeve patient and I recall you saying in another post a few days ago that you don't take Vitamins, you just rely on a healthy diet to get your Vitamins, which isn't recommended for bypassers. So the two posts are sort of contradictory, junk food vs healthy diet for vitamins. And also sleeve on your profile and now you're saying you got bypass two years ago. Can you clarify the details for us please? Thanks!

Yes I’m a vsg. No revision. I do not take vitamins my Vitamin levels are normal.

  2. Supposed to go for a scope. Rather figure this out with some help. Went to Mexico years ago. Come back to the states to find out that the spleen was lacerated. The Bariatric dr here acted like a spoiled child that I went to Mexico. Very uncomfortable seeing a dr. Thanks guys for mentioning restriction not normal. I didn’t think it was either but then again. It’s all still very new 2 years later. Peanut Butter and a spoon!

    Are you working with dietitian?

When you're actually underweight and struggling to gain weight, all the things you learned about losing weight go out the window. For example, if you're avoiding carbs, you need to stop. If you're watching your fat intake, that too needs to stop. As @ShoppGirl said, this does not mean you should eat junk, there are plenty of healthy carbs and fats you can add to your diet. Do a google search for things like "healthy calorie dense foods". You'll see nut butters and avocados, but also dried and fresh fruits, whole grain breads, potatoes (sweet and white), oatmeal, full fat dairy, Pasta, etc...

The foods that you mention nuts , butters and avocados, but also dried and fresh fruits, whole grain breads, potatoes (sweet and white), oatmeal, full fat dairy, I have ate from day one. Except Pasta , high carb food. Are you saying to eat pasta , high carb foods? Of course I have since trying to put weight on. Healthy dense calorie food does not help with weight gain. But that’s for me. Everyone is different. I do need to mention my stomach feels more restricted. I was up to two cups of food 1 year out. Now being 2 plus years I’m down to 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup. Any ideas anyone.

  4. I’m 2 plus years out of gastric bypass. I have lost all my weight plus some. According to the stats I’m under weight. I have ate absolute junk food to get my weight up. Just makes me feel like crap. Just to much sugar. I eat my fair share with in reason. My stomach seems not to be growing. So I can put more food in. I’m really starting to worry about other health issues that I tried to avoid by doing the surgery. I’m looking in healthy even I can see. When I’m 60 am I going to have issues maintaining or gaining then. I was not prepared for this. People are fully focused on how fast and how much. But not the bigger picture. I’m sure I’m not the only one dealing with this. People who are going thru this. I would like to here your opinion.

  5. I had my surgery done in Mexico. I was in severe pain on the flight back to the states. Thinking it was just gas. Instinct told me to go to e.r.
The Dr treating me here in the states was a complete a@@ hole. He told me that he can refuse my treatment. I was hospitalized for 3 days. He asked me why I went to Mexico. I told him that Mexico is much cheaper ,I don’t have to play the head games you require and the waiting game. He was not impressed. Things can happen here in the states or on another country but please please do your research before going!

What has been your experience with going into surgery with a weight of 205lbs or under? My starting weight was 220 but I've lost 15 pounds pre op. I've heard people smaller will not loose any weight. Going into surgery smaller what is the recovery like?

(I am doing this surgery because I've tried everything to loose weight and live a better lifestyle)

I often cringe when writing on this forum. Their for some will criticize me for my weight loss journey when some people ask why I got the surgery. Do to my size. I'm 5 foot small fram. Lower b.m.i. I have had great results. I lost really slow have reached my goals plus some.

    Healthier life style

I'm a bit scared to go through with my surgery. It's planned for late November. I talked to the nutritionist for pre-op and she realized something was wrong with my hormones, because I generally don't eat much and I work out a lot. She protested with my PCP to look at my hormones, and told him I needed to see an endocrinologist. Long story short I'm on meds for hypothyroidism, but my bariatric surgeon and PCP still say I need the surgery. My endocrinologist says don't do it. I've been on the hypothyroid meds for 3 weeks and I'm down 32lbs and officially under 200lbs. Am I being too sensitive and thinking my PCP and surgeon are fat phobic or should I trust them? My nutritionist is saying hold off on it because she doesn't think it's an eating problem, but a hormone problem, and I can't help but believe her since I've seen crazy results on my thyroid meds.

    What should I do?

Hold off!! You will feel more energy. Your hair will grow, skin will feel good, best of all you will loose weight..

I am 3 days post-op sleeve (also had my gallbladder removed and a hiatal hernia repaired) and I am getting random stomach spasms that last like 5 seconds. They make my whole abdomen tense and take my breath away for a few seconds. I am going to call the surgeon today but I'm curious if this is a typical pain after vsg? The spasms so far are the worst part of my healing experience.

For me 2 years out. I still have stomach spasms not nearly as intense or often.

My surgery date was 9/26 and my surgeon said not to take Vitamins until my post-op visit 3 weeks after surgery (this past Thursday). My surgeon recommended the fusion brand, but I am confused about the different types, some you have to take 4/day, others only once per day and then there are the calcium chews (two hours after iron). Is the fusion 1x/day pill a complete Vitamin? I purchased the complete Vitamin not realizing you need to take it 4x/day but would like to switch to the 1x/day version but just want to make sure it has the correct daily balance of Vitamins, since 4x/day is just unreasonable and not workable into a work schedule and taking around Calcium pills which can't be taken within two hours of an Iron supplement and the gallstone pills (take 2x/day with food) and the reflux pills (take 1x/day before eating). I am wondering if the fusion 1x/day Vitamin is a complete vitamin and what other supplements does everyone take?

In addition to the Fusion Multivitamin and 2x/day calcium citrate that we all take, I've been told (by friends) to take:

B12 sublingual (when does one take this?)
    Fusion hair, Nails & Skin
Vitamin D (50,000U/wk with vitamin K3) for skin
    Krill Oil
    collagen powder, Water soluble
ADEK Vitamin (but the friend who told me this had a DS, which I did not have so I don't think I need this.)

Does anyone take any of these supplements and what kind of daily multi-vitamins have worked best for you?

    Thanks!

For me no Vitamins needed! Save your money eat a healthy balanced diet!

My opinion, 2 years out labs all normal. From the begging.

  12. I'm 2 years out I've had my ups and downs of weight loss. I've have worried daily in my success of weight loss. On how many calories, rite Vitamins, exercise, list goes on. I may have been the lucky one or am I? I went thru the phase of regret not able to enjoy the food I once loved. But I loved loosing the weight. Slowly. Sex drive went down hill. hair falling out skin crepping. " Blood levels are normal" .

Started out with small weight loss goals. Reached my goals. Over and over again my goal weight was 125. I told my self I have to stick to a healthy weight for me . Not what the experts say I should weigh. Then it was a goal of 115. in my head I'm not satisfied I'll do another goal of 110. So I decided it's time to maintain my weight or gain 10 pounds back. Since I'm now 100 lbs. I'm trying to gain weight. And I'm struggling!! I want to gain. should I eat the three C's cake, cookies, ice cream? Of course not what are healthy fattening foods?

The positives. Looking good feeling good.
