  1. I take Probiotics to help with my gut. I think it is really important especally after surgery to keep things running normally. I do have a question though. Does anyone know how to keep a gall bladder? I know I have stones but they have never bothered me but I really don't want to have it removed so how can I keep my gall stones from hurting or any other suggestions would be great! Thanks!

  2. I sometimes feel like things get stuck in my throat. It happens more in the morning or when I don't chew enough...It hurts a lot and I HAVE to drink something to wash it down...even though I am not supposed to drink with my meals I take a sip if something is stuck. But that is definitely in my throat NOT my pouch.

  3. well I had my surgery yesterday. all went well. I was admitted to the hospital at 7 AM and released at 1230 pm. It took me forever to get home because of the flooding (4 hours when it normally takes 1.5) I am doing well! My husband is shocked at how well I am doing...under the circumstances. He joked that I need to get a heart and lung transplant to see how I react. I am not on a clear liquid diet so when I got home I had some Tomato Soup. It tasted a bit funny but I didn't mind. My mouth still has a funny taste in it...I guess that is what the mints on the list I got from you all are for. After I ate Soup DH and I went for a walk around the neighborhood. I rested for a bit and then just hung out then went to bed. My Dr. gave me Vicodin pills...I thought he would give me liquid did anyone else get pills? DH raised up the head of our bed a little (with books) and that has helpped...I feel like I am pg again with al the pillows I have around me but they help me get comfy! For those of you pre-band I just wanted to let you know that for me walking and a heating pad have helped a lot with the gas pain. My daughter doesn't understand why mommy can't pick her up but I hope that soon we will be able to at least snuggle.

I just wanted to give you all an update!

  4. Well I am in flooded Cedar Rapids IA and I will be banded tomorrow. Luckily my surgery is out of town because the hospital here is not doing surgeries. I will let you all know how it goes. Oh yeah I have to be at the hospital at 7 AM sowe will be leaving at 5 AM. Oh yeah I am useing my cell phone to post this. oh well... God Bless!!!

  5. I get banded the same day you do. I personally don't like staying at the hospital and i hope I am released the same day! Will you get a refund if you don't spend the night? Do you have young children? have you had surgery before? I am having insurance pay for it and I do have a 14 month old daughter. we will be an hour and a half from home for my surgery so my husband and daughter would have to spend the night either in a hotel or the hospital. (if they let them) I have had 2 foot surgeries and they went fine. I just don't like being in the hospital...I don't like the nurses that come in every few hours to check BP and Temp. I don't take a whole lot of pain meds but I can self medicate. I am also young (27) and relatively healthy so the doc said I should be fine to go home even though I live so far away. so if you feel well it is really up to you. I hope I have an early surgery time so I can go home but I am just crazy like that!

  6. I am the same size as you and I have some old VS things that still fit me. they are the looser ones but they still fit...I am small chested though. By all of this I mean yeah I think you prolly could fit into VS stuff at Christmas....I just remembered an awesome thing at VS that was on clearance and I think I might buy it even though it won't fit me now. Surprise DH with it when it does fit.

    Good luck!

  7. I am not yet banded (friday is my day) but from what I understand...the blanket answer is 30-40 mins however that really depends on you and your surgeon. If you stuck with the pro op diet and really shrunk your liver then it could take as little as 10-15 mins but if your liver is still big or other things then it could take 60 mins. Most people seem to recover well. It seems like the worst part of recovery is the air they pumped into your tummy and the port site incision. overall it seems like people heal well! if you want me to I can update you on my progress during and after surgery ( well what the doc said about during surgery since I will be out.

  8. I just had my pre op friday and it was with my surgeon. we talked about how he does it, if he thought I could go home that night, what his weight restriction for me is. I knew all of the general stuff but he adapted a lot of things because I am young and healthy...well other than being MO.

  9. well I talked to my surgeon and he said that my goal should be 170...so I am going to change my ticket to that and then if/when I get lower it will be a bonus! I have my pre op physical with my family dr today and I will ask her.

oh yeah and the whole high school/wedding day thing won't work for me...I was 190 in High School and about that on my wedding day. When I met my husband I was about 170 maybe a little less and I felt thin....so we will see where we are at 170.

  10. you can do it! what kind of pre op diet do you have? they all seam different! for me the first few days were the hardest...it is actually easy for me now. well kind of. but it is all worth it! believe me I want to go to Culvers and get a giant hamburger and fries with a Pepsi and some custard! but chicken and veggies will work too I guess. (I am not on a liquid diet...but low carb high Protein and small portions. and I mean small a 1/2 cup per meal total)

    you can do it!!!!!
