  1. It is typically performed by a plastic surgeon but for insurance reasons it’s considered a medical treatment. Lots of loss skin can cause back pain and rashes. Same way a breast reduction is often considered medical for the same reasons. I am going to have a panniculectomy for medical reasons (rash and back pain) paid by insurance. My surgery will be done by a plastic surgeon.

  2. I would go with bypass. I had a sleeve in 2013. I did lose 80 pounds but that still had me at 220. Then I developed some discomfort swallowing and I ended up with bile reflux and a large hiatal hernia ... my surgeon said the chances of bile reflux are higher with sleeve because the stomach is under more pressure with a sleeve. a Bypass can be reversed if necessary. A sleeve cannot. Once that stomach is removed, it’s gone. But note that a sleeve can be converted to a bypass later. ..... ultimately if you have 100 or more to lose, bypass would be the way to go.

  3. August 4th for this girl. Conversion from sleeve to RYN, with large type III hernia repair. Everything went great. I feel great but have lots of limitations until hernia repair heals. Doing 3-4 walks a day. Best part... I am getting out of vacuuming and scooping cat boxes for a few more weeks! :) Dr’s orders.

  4. I agree with catwoman, I think the smaller stomach and changes to hunger hormones and insulin processing are all immediate changes after surgery for most people. I am only a few weeks post op and eating about 600-650 calories right now in puréed diet and I am not hungry. I did feel hungry sometimes on the liquids only diet, for the first few weeks.

  5. I had RYN on 8/4. 2 weeks today. Down 7 pounds. Eating about 500-600 calories and not hungry. Getting 55-70 grams of Protein. I had thought maybe I would be losing a little quicker but I think the first week I lost all the Water and inflammation from surgery.... and this 2nd week I haven’t lost anything. I am walking 3 times a day. I had a large hiatal hernia repaired at the same time so I have limitations on physical activity for a few more weeks. I feel good. No pain.
