  1. Thanks for the concern, but yes I have check with the doctor and he says its all ok. No fever, just from the breathing tube and reconstruction.... I have spaced them out, but I get full before I get through the first set and can't even go on. If you look at my reply to one of the other posts, I did get a modified pill sched until I see the doc on Monday. Hope I can get everything under control then

  3. No tummy bug here. Checked with the doctor and everything is right where it should be. He said that the cough is from the breathing tube and the diarrhea is from my gut trying to get used to its new route. Looks like we are about 2 weeks apart on our surgery,..I'll have to keep you around and see if I can get some helps from you.....
  4. I was just sitting here with my coffee and had all these thought running through my head so I started putting them down on paper as sometimes do. Hope you enjoy it---- Twas the night before bypass and all through my head Was a mixture of feelings, thoughts, and cheers. I have worked hard to get here and this day has come, Its time to cheer and shout, Tell the world “Here I come” No more will I hide behind this wall of shame That kept me from being the person I am, The true me is coming, I’m ready to shine So onward pride, happiness, love, peace, and joy You will show the sadness, guilt, and loneliness where to go, There is a new me inside all ready to show. So know that the fear, anxiousness, and worry is there now, But remember just what the purpose is and it will bring a big smile.
  5. I got a call late yesterday about my ride to get my covid test on Monday for my surgery....that means it is only 4 days away, I am excitedly nervous and anxious. I have had to rescheduled the surgery about 5 times after the first attempt failed a year ago and can't believe it is actually going to happen this time. I can't wait to get it done and get on with my life!!!!

    Reality Is Setting In

I just came back from Walgreen's and got some travel size stuff to take with me. I am going to pack tomorrow. What did you find helpful that you took to the hospital and what did you take that was useless?
  7. I started the pre-op diet on Wed 9/11 and thought that my system should have adjusted to the diet by now, but I still have a lot of bloated, gassy, feeling and my stools are loose. I am not able to eat raw vegetables and salad due to medical issues, so I know that it isn't from that and I don't drink cow milk. Is anyone else having this trouble? Mostly I am having two Premier drinks and one meal a day that has 3-6 grams of protein, no more that 30-50 carbs, and unlimited vegetables (which are all cooked). In between drinks, when I get hungry, I have a homemade vegetable soup that I snack on. I don't see how any of this should be a problem......

    Cravings during Pre-op Diet

I started the pre-op diet on 9/2 and ever since then I have been fighting with myself to not go put one of the frozen pizzas in the oven and eating the whole thing before my husband gets up for the day. I feel sick about it because I am doing so good on the diet, but that craving just won't leave me. What would you do? I can't get rid of the pizzas cause my husband will want them soon.....

    Too Much Gatorade???

I have been drinking about one 32 ounce Gatorade a day since 9/2 (Wednesday). That is the day I started my pre-op diet of 2 protein drinks or bars, and one meal a day. My surgery is on 9/16. I have been experiencing bloat and pressure in my lower abdomen and lots of gas. I started a post about it and some thought it may be the artificial sweetener in the shakes. I wasn't thinking that was it so cut out the gassy veggies, but still had problems. This morning I woke up with a very wet bed, and when I went to pee it was full of blood. I was really scared and couldn't understand what was going on. My caregiver had just asked me yesterday about drinking more water. I thought that she may be on to something and stopped the Gatorade and started pushing water. Of course, being a holiday, I had to go to the ER since I needed to make sure there was nothing serious going on. By the time I saw the doctor in the ER, My urine was clear of any blood, but the sample that I gave them had blood in it so they started me on a antibiotic anyway and they are doing a culture on the urine sample. The pressure in my stomach is gone and I have not had anymore blood in my urine since I stopped the Gatorade. I'm not saying that Gatorade is a bad product, so don't get me wrong. I just was drinking to much of it and not enough water. I want everyone to know that this can happen, so don't go on a total Gatorade hydration diet. Make sure you alternate it with water.

    Anyone for September 2020?

No sugar added means that there is naturally occurring sugars like from fruit. You would have to check the ingredient label to see what the sugar comes from and then the nutritional analysis to see the carb content to see if it could be allowed on your pre-op diet.

    Premier Protein

This isn't so much a question but I just mixed my Premier powder with 2 ice cubes, a round metal shaker ball, 7 oz of plain almond milk, and one scoop of premier protein powder in a shaker glass in that order. I shook it really well. I have never had good luck getting those to dissolve, but this blended excellent and tasted better than the pre-made drinks and cheaper!!!

    Day 3 post opp

Did they say why you are still there and on clear fluids? I heard that you can be home within two days and on stage 2 of eating. Did you have any complications if you don't mind me asking? Did you get to go home today? I hope you don't think that I am being critical or judging you. I am more concerned and wondering since I am going to have my surgery on the 16th.

    Premier Protein

I have tried about 5 different flavors and some can be passable, but I still will stick with the almond milk homemade one as my favorite. I will be interested to hear how you like the other flavors.....
  14. I don't know how it happened, unless I entered it wrong to begin with, but I always double check, but my beginning weight and my current weight have been switched!! I swear I entered them right, but don't know how they could have been switched and why it would have been done. There is no reason for it to be done on here so it must have been me. Just tell me how to fix it please!!!!

How do I edit info in surgery section?

    Anyone for September 2020?

    Cravings during Pre-op Diet

I can have broth and unlimited vegetables if they are not the starchy vegetables. I have made a vegetable soup and am devouring that daily when I get hungry and need to eat something. I also have the jello and eat that along with sugar free Popsicles. It does help but I have CHF so I also need to watch the salt intake and that makes it harder to feel the fullness.

    Pressure and Bloat

So maybe it is the shakes then. Did you use the pre mixed or did you mix them yourself? I am going to only use the almond milk for the next couple days and see if that helps. Thanks for your input and I'll be waiting to hear if you mixed your own and what kind of milk you used.

    Pressure and Bloat

I have a couple of other proteins to choose from, but they are pricey. I have never had a problem with artificial sweeteners before and have been using them most of my life. I could get a couple of the other brands just to see if there is a difference, but I don't know how I would afford to buy them if that was the problem.
  21. I know that I will be moving slowly on my increase for the food intake since my surgery is more complicated, but I sure hope the broth works for me. I also find that the shakes, if I make them myself with almond milk, go down better, and stay down better, so I will be doing that for now. Surgery is on 9/16, xFatBoy how are you doing...any better?

    Anyone for September 2020?

9/16 for me!! nervous, excited, but very ready to get it over with!!
  23. I started the pre op diet 4 days ago also and I feel for you also. I made a vegetable soup with all the free vegetables that I am allowed and seasoned it with all the seasoning that I can use. This is a FREE food and I can eat this whenever I want and how much I want. There is no recipe...just make some broth (or buy some) and just keep adding vegetables and spices until it tastes good to you.....

    DON'T DO IT

When she talks about the prior reflux surgery that her wife had and they didn't know about it until they were in the process of the surgery...that was not a very well planned surgery. I have had that reflux surgery and am having my RNY on 9/16. It takes a special doctor and about 6 hours of surgery to do the takedown and then do the RNY surgery. I can see why see had so much trouble healing. The doctor didn't know what he was doing.... This is a VERY special kind of gastric bypass with the takedown of the Nissin before the RNY. Healing doesn take a lot longer and is a lot harder due to all the holes and stitches that have to heal. Please don't let this post determine your decision about WLS. The benefits normally outweigh the negatives.......
  25. I couldn’t find my original post, which would explain this post better, but I live in the state of Washington where we have that coronavirus outbreak and my surgery is getting canceled. It was scheduled on the 26th. All elective surgeries are getting canceled at every hospital. This is my second cancellation (The first cancellation was explained in my original post) has a and it’s getting pretty frustrating. It’s making me second-guess whether I should be doing it or not but I know that I need to get it done. I’m getting pretty depressed I need to get back to Illinois and see my 90-year-old parents. But I’ve been waiting to get this surgery out of the way so that I can fly safely or drive safely. But with these cancellations it’s been taking two extra years for me to get this done. Now I have no idea how long this is going to get delayed. Now all I wanna do is just binge and I know that’s not gonna do me any good so I’m trying to keep it under control. right now our state is ij lockdown and we don’t get to go out of our house unless we need groceries or other important things like that. I just wish something would break and it would get all over so we can get back to normal.
