    I'm Wondering--did you TELL?

Good luck! I started my journey in March and after all the appointments, tests, doctors visits, etc., I was banded on 6/27. It will be here before you know it!
  2. Yeah, and I can hear all this noise in my abdomen area...the gas voices. Yeah, the GasX isn't really touching it. Man, it hurts! I definately went back to work too soon, but thankfully after today, I have the rest of the week off!
  3. I was banded on 6/27 and all those liquids do get boring. I've been trying different flavored broths, and have looked for lower sodium. I enjoy the flavored waters. The sugar free jellos are great. The Life Savers sugar free popsicles are so yummy. I also have found a "no sugar added" apple juice which I really enjoy at lunch (Motts). The alernative, dehydration is much worse, so please, keep sipping. I read somewhere where you could also have sugar free sorbet or italian ice during the first week...I haven't ventured out for that yet. Good luck

    I'm Wondering--did you TELL?

awh, that's awful. But, that's exactly what I'm afraid of...the know it alls, the ones that say "Oh, must be nice to have money", even though insurance totally covered it. People, especially family can be jerks.

    Anyone extra-emotional??

I'm extra emotional ALREADY and I've only been banded 4 days. I get to look forward to this again? yipee.

    Pain in a weird spot

I am not a back-sleeper either. I can sleep on my left side pretty OK, but the side with the port, I had to put a nice cushiony pillow under my side and that made it much more tolerable. But, I certainly could not do that all night. But, for a change of pace, it helped.
  7. I had my surgery on Friday, 6/27 and went back to work today. I made it from 8:00 through noon. I wasn't in a lot of pain, just very uncomfortable...i.e. not being able to stand up straight after sitting down, having trouble concentrating. It just feels so much better to sit in a big cushy chair, in a nightgown with no clothing restriction!! I'm going to continue to try to work, because I don't want to burn up vacation days, but it's not as easy as some make it seem.
  8. I came to this sight this morning with this same question on my mind. What about V8 juice? I was banded on 6-27-08 and so far, until today, I've not felt hunger...
  9. Banded yesterday @ 12:45pm. Was home by 6pm. I'm pretty sore. The pain meds, hydrocodone, make me sleepy and weird feeling. Here's my questions... How long until the dry mouth goes away? I've continually drank Water. My doctor says I can go to work on Monday...I have a desk job, but is that really going to be possible? The way I am feeling today, I am not so sure. When should I have my first bowel movement? How can I? It seems impossible given the liquids only. And, along with the potty questions, why can I not take a good long pee...I woke up last night at least 6 times to pee. So, during this first week of all liquids, how did you spice it up? Did any of you feel uncomfortable sleeping on your Right side? So, I can't swim in the pool, but I can lay by it and hopefully improve my tan, but how long until I can lay on my stomach? Is using a straw necessary, or are small sips OK? I worry about gas with a straw. How can I add one of those trackers y'all have? Is it normal that I feel no hunger at all? How often did you use pain meds? So far, I've taken mine at home twice. Before bed last-night and around 11am this morning. I'm trying to tough it out. ~~~~~~~~~~ Thanks for reading and hopefully responding to all my questions. I'm so thankful for this website and forum. I'll be on here a lot! I had a very pleasant experience yesterday...the doctor was awesome, and all the after-care at my hospital was wonderful. Whew, I did it and now I'm ready for this great adventure!
  10. Yeah, since the day has gone on, I'm starting to experience some bad gas pains and yes, my urine is a funny color too. Here's another question...I've not told any co-workers what surgery I had, nor my parents...just my immediate family and best friend. I really just didn't want to hear all of the unwelcome opinions and advice. Yesterday, We ran into someone (of course) and I had to explain why I was at the hospital and I said "I had a procedure done, you know, female, because of bad periods". Blah blah blah. Geesh, didn't that person go and call a family member on my husbands side? Now she has called here "oh what happened?" and seriously, its not concern, its just being nosey. How have y'all handled this?

    Who's getting banded in June

Good luck, I'm on the 27th! How long do you have to do the liquid diet? for me, only the day before...

    Who's getting banded in June

My date is June 27, pre-op on June 24th. I'm surprised to hear about everyone on the liquid diet...some for 2 weeks. I drink clear liquids only on June 26th. Wonder why my doctor is different? But, I am SO excited and really ready to get started. I've been amazed at some of the bad habits I have...like not chewing my food enough. I've been working on being more aware of it, and changing it. My job requires a lot of travel, a lot of walking and set-up at a program and I am really looking forward to doing these things without feeling like I'm going to die at the end of the day! I am also looking forward to shopping again, walking by a window/mirror and not being disgusted and maybe even to wearing heels again! Are others keeping this entire procedure a secret like I am? I'm not even telling my parents and certainly not people I work with. My immediate family knows, but that's it. How do you handle this? I'm looking foward to making some friends on this site and helping and being helped through this great journey.

    Non-Scale Victories!!

What are NSVs? I'm having my surgery next week and I'm studying all that people are writing in here and wonder what that stands for?
  15. I am so excited. June 27th, I have the lap-band surgery. It's a great time of the year for me...with my work and all, this works out so well. Yipee.

    Surgery Date Set

I only have to fast with Clear liquids the day before, not for 2 weeks. Good luck!
  17. Feeling a little discouraged. I've had all the hospital work done, psych work, dietician visits and my surgery is not yet scheduled. My doctor said from the initial seminar to the surgery would be six weeks. So far, more like 12. I'm trying not to get mad about it and lash out at the doctor or his staff, but I'm really frustrated. Plus, I have bills coming in for something I haven't even had done yet! And, a question...those of you who have done or are considering lap-band...do you wish you had chosen bypass instead? I'm wondering if I should do the bypass instead. Well, I look forward to speaking with all of you along this journey. :wink2:
