  1. I'm already planning my last supper before I start any pre-op diet. I'm planning to make a HUGE batch of Sangria with lots of fruit, and have a Mexican Fiesta! Tamales, Queso dip, 7 layer salad, green chili...you know. and Tres Leches cake for dessert! I'm also going to invite all of my prayer partners over to pray with me, and play a little Bid Whist to boot! I see the surgeon next Thursday, the 30th and I want to impress upon him that I need to be banded soon - at least by Labor Day.

Anyhoo- what did you have for your last supper?:)

  2. I have told quite a few people that I know. However, only 3 of my family members know. My family can be so hard on a sistah, that I don't want any negative vibes heading my way. I've really only told people who I know will pray with me and be supportive. My husband is really supportive because he's seen some of my diabetic episodes, and has had to call 911 on occasion when I was on one of my crazy diets! I can't wait to be banded. My surgeon's appointment is july 30th and hope I will get a date pretty soon afterward. God Bless to you all!

  3. Hi, I'm Trish and I live in Pueblo, Colorado. I have been overweight most of my life. I have been to the seminar last week, and have my first appointment with the surgeon on July 30th. I have Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and sleep apnea and I just want to be healthy. I"m married to a wonderful man for 17 years. I have no children of my own, but I have 3 wonderful step-children who have blessed me with grandchildren! I hope to be banded before the summer is over and lose enough for my husband to buy me something sexy from Victoria's Secret for my birthday in November! LOL I'm glad I found this forum. I usually post on ObesityHelp.com on the BAF (Black American Forum). Looking forward to many spirited posts on this board! God Bless you all!

  4. I'm exactly the same! I have the diabetes, etc, and it is hard for diabetics to lose weight. My 1st class isn't until July11th, but the nurse who interviewed me said the doc would probably suggest GB. I told her that I wanted the Lap Band because it doesn't involve cutting any of my internal organs! LOL. I don't know - I say that now, but I have been praying about the Lap Band for the last few years until my ins company started paying for it. I just wish I had found out that in January - perhaps I would be slimmer by now. Hang in there - we can do this!

  5. I don't know what happened to my earlier reply, but I'm in Pueblo Colorado, just starting out in this whole process! I'm being banded at Penrose in colorado Springs. It is exciting, isn't it? Just to know that I will be healthy is enough for me. Of course, being Hotter is a great by-product! LOL Keep in touch

  6. I just registered for my pre-op seminar!! :thumbup:It's not until July 11th, but I'm excited!!! I also spoke with my ins co, who said there are no 6-mos diet requirements, etc, although I have documented diet since February. I just hope I can have my surgery before the summer is over!

  7. I just found out on Tuesday that my insurance now covers the Lap Band! I was so overjoyed that I was crying to the rep on the phone! LOL. I have to see my PCP next Wednesday and get a referral to the Bariatric surgeon. I've already called their office and was told that I have to attend his seminar. I'm going the first Tuesday in June. I can only hope that I can get this done before the summer is over, the latest before the year is out. I am 55, and I have type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, knee pain, diabetic retinopathy (had 3 surgeries on my eyes) and a big family history of both Diabetes and High blood pressure. I've lost 2 brothers to the disease, and I don't want to go out like that. Ive been praying for this for a long time, and now I'm sssssssooooooooooooooo ready!! I'm glad I found this board! Good luck and God Bless on your journey!:biggrin2:
