    Ok. @MissPennyP:

First, instructions from teams vary greatly from one person to another. I would always tend to say to listen to your team, but to also supplement this with asking them questions, and doing your research (not just on public forums, but also from the gazillion studies and article published out there on the good ol' internet).

I will admit that your prescribed diet does sound very different from the majority of what I have read here and elsewhere.

HOWEVER, there was one fella on here on here who was also prescribed a similar diet to yours this early on and self-reported some significant success (I can't remember his handle name, and he recently announced that he was no longer participating on this board...which I suspect was partly due to the flack he was getting about his diet, but I digress...).

If you are sticking to under 700 cals are day, you will lose weight. Not as fast as those who did 300-400 in the early months (myself included), but you will lose.

You are barley a month out of surgery, stick to your a low cal (preferably low carb as well) and keep going. Continue to stay honest with yourself with what you are eating and what you are doing and you will see the weight come off. Get some exercise and move, that will help too. Speak to your team and let them know your concerns. Do your research. Make informed decisions.

You will get out of this surgery what you put into it. Good Luck!!

    Thank you

Good luck to you! I am sure this is a huge frustration for you. I hope that you are able to have a longer chat with your nutritionist, although her saying she is not concerned must be some comfort. Maybe you can't tolerate the whey; it can be hard to digest. Although it is not as perfect of a Protein, you could try a milk based Protein Drink instead. Maybe you don't react well to the artificial sweeteners; you could try some with Stevia and/or Monk Fruit, I find those much more palatable. It is hard to get the Protein in even before the surgery, so I am sure you are struggling now.

No I’m not feeling any comfort by her telling me she’s not concerned about it what is a milk-based protein drink I don’t know what that is

I would be inclined to do what my medical team advised - they're going to know more about your particular situation than random people on the internet. Yes we occasionally do see puzzling advice that people have gotten from their medical team on here, but not all that often. if you can't tolerate Protein Shakes, you can't tolerate Protein shakes. But I do agree with one of the other posters that it might be a lactose issue, so some kind of vegetable Protein - like pea protein or soy - might not cause the vomiting. But who knows.

someone else mentioned that all programs are different, and i totally agree with that. Your dietitian may have thought you were ready to progress in your diet - plus you aren't able to tolerate Protein Shakes - so she advised you to move on because you have to get your protein from SOMEWHERE. My program was more accelerated than most, too. They had us eating purees right out of the hospital, and I think I moved to soft foods at 3 or 4 weeks out. I'm not sure I personally could have handled chicken at that point (a lot of people have trouble with that when they're early out), but I probably could have handled tuna (and probably did eat it then - but I don't remember - I'm pretty far out from surgery). I'd just follow her advice for now and see what happens.

I don’t have an issue with lactose , Even before surgery I had a problem with the protein shakes now once again I tried today yet again I mixed my Greek yogurt in with a banana and my unflavored protein mix and I just threw it up I don’t know what to doEven before surgery I had a problem with the protein shakes now once again I tried today yet again I mixed my Greek yogurt in with a banana and my unflavored protein mix and I just threw it up I don’t know what to do

I'm going to go out on a limb here. I don't think you should be eating grilled chicken, Peanut Butter, tuna and egg salad with mayo added, etc.. 20 days after surgery. you really need to consume 2 or 3 protien shakes per day to print your system into balance.

I am on Soft diet right now I wasn’t able to get any kind of Protein Shake no matter how I tried premade mixes unflavored flavorless flavored water or anything I would throw it all up I talk to my nutritionist she said I could eat eggs Peanut Butter chicken tuna as long as my stomach could handle it the first stage after my surgery was liquids I did that for a week then then full liquids I did that for a Couple of days and still wasn’t getting enough Protein so my nutritionist Said I can go to soft diet and eat my protein that way Of course I did the purée stage in between as well February 3 I go on to Regular diet I can eat whatever I want then

I just did what my nutritionist said

I’m sorry that I put it in the reply I Musta hit the reply button by mistake but it didn’t give me the option to post a new thread my apologies

From your screenshot it says you consumed 300+ calories for breakfast...

What was your total calories for the entire day? (I'm unsure if the 668 shown for calories is total consumed? Or total remaining?)

  6. That’s what I’m saying I’m confused too I talk to my nutritionist and she said she’s not worried about it but I am now granite before my surgery before my 10 day pre-op diet I was 271 now 228 that is a considerable weight loss but now that I had the surgery I’m 20 days past my surgery and I am not losing any I gained I’m starting to wonder whether he did the operation right or not

  7. Breakfast consists of a half scrambled egg then I start my Water consumption lunch tuna salad more water consumption I sometimes do pick in between it’ll be a string cheeseOr sugarless applesauce or sugar-free popsicle . dinner it will be grilled chicken if I have anything left in my stomach room for a little bit of mashed potatoes a spoonful of peanut butter
More water consumption maybe I have to get more water in the day

im on soft food stage right now

  8. Hello I had my surgery on January 6, 2020 and I just got a question in the beginning I wasn’t able to get any of the Protein Shakes or mixes of any kind down I would throw it all up , so I was fast forward to more softer foods By my nutritionist As long as my stomach could handle it so I can get Protein out of what I eat as of right now I am 20 days out and I haven’t lost any weight I gained is there any reason for that ?
Surgery wait 230 , four days later 237 , on 14 January I went down to 221 , A week later I went to see my nutritionist for the first time since surgery and I went back up to 229 now I also had a hernia repair at the same time as my surgery , right after surgery for four days I wasn’t hungry now I’m constantly hungry and I’m getting approximately 50 to 60 g of Protein a day . I just don’t get it
