8 days Post op And I WANT PEANUT BUTTER

Ah what about adding some PB2 powder to a protein shake, I mean you're still pretty new and it might not go over well with your stomach.
  2. There was no bouncing back quickly, finally after a month I'm sort of feeling normal. That's why you need a supportive person around to help. Stay the course my friend, it's super normal for a few miserable days and a week actually. Be gentle with yourself and don't bend - it will just make it worse.

    can someone just tell me

Just make sure you tell your anesthesiologist if you use cannabis, in some patients it makes putting you under harder I guess. I had never had any surgeries before but I read several articles about this. So every where I turned I made sure they knew. I had no problems that I know of, I mean no said anything after. Just make sure you tell your during pre-op appointment and surgeon and everyone. Just to be safe.

    January 2020 Surgery Folks

Was wondering if anyone had cure for leg cramps, when I use to get cramps before WLS I took like extra magnesium & potassium but like now should I just do the same? I have been constantly getting in about 70 ounces of water and it's a struggle to do that. Should I increase my water?! Anyone know...

    can someone just tell me

Yep they were a life saver for me, I am a baby when it comes to pain. They got me through and I used the same pain relief THC/CBD cream I use for that time of the month on my stomach too. It helped wean me off the narcotic pain meds to just taking extra strength Tylenol. I was careful with my ratio of THC:CBD because I didn't want to be head high and forget to be careful. I took like an 18:1

    No flavor protein powder

Oh yes this is the one I use, I even mix it in with the soup packet the surgeon's office gave me for 40 grams. Because early on it was killer trying to get in my protein for the day. Real food just don't have protein like I need.
  7. I told everyone at all my favorite regular restaurants my hubby and I go to. They have been so accommodating. I'm glad I started reading these boards in preparation so I knew what to do.
  8. I know you posted this 2 weeks ago, but I had read about this and how friendships change. So with all my closest friends when I started the whole process of WLS transition (you know 6 months of appointments and whatnot) I started transforming my friendships too. I told all my friends who were closest to me whom I consider a more loving family at times than my own. We started doing other things - bowling, movies, game nights (not centered around food) So here I am hoping 🤞🏻 that many of my relationships don't change too much. I'll let you know in 6 months though 🤷🏼‍♀️
  9. So if you have a cough, I'm just saying OUCH! But your pain tolerance might be huge! I would never wish thie surgery on anyone with a cough.

    Fatigue!!!

I'm currently shooting for between 70-90 grams myself. But I mix extra in with one of my morning soups so that I get a great big boost early on. My morning soup has 40 grams in it with extra scoop of protein added to it. My body thrives on protein though, since I was keto 18 months prior to surgery. I know we're all different.

    Gatorade before surgery?

If you google - there have been a number of studies that show if people drink a Gatorade or like fluid with the balance of electrolytes that you recover better and faster and don't become less dehydrated. Being dehydrated makes your recovery harder and it's hard for them to put in IVs too. I couldn't personally drink it because I had been Keto 18 months prior to surgery and the sugar would have made me feel awful. I asked if they wanted to me to do a Zero one but my surgeon said it was fine not too. I did have sips of water until an hour before surgery though. But follow your surgeons guidelines and if you can't tell them.
  12. Wow 😳 that's sad, how long have you been married. I needed my husband for everything after my surgery - I was in so much pain and I couldn't drive. I am still not driving and I'm like 3 weeks post op. Is she like worried you're going to get all thin and leave her & the baby? I know some women don't like changes in their lives and worry if there are that there is something up with you. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Like I said before good luck 🍀 I hope your marriage survives this. It's a huge adjustment.
  13. Wow that's great?! I can't believe how different everyone's surgeons are throughout the country. So weird - well then I don't know about this weird food she is talking about, have you been able to work anything out or resolve her to be onboard?
  14. I can't even imagine going through this alone. I guess I would explained to her and ask her to come to your preop appointment. Give her the pamphlets you've gotten from the surgeon. You're pretty close to surgery date so I imagine you've already started the "weird" food because liquid diet. You're definitely going to need the support from someone after the surgery, hopefully it's your wife. Wow being in the medical field I would think she would know it's not a scam, but a tool to help with weight loss especially when you're a loss of what else to do. Good Luck 🍀

    Blood clots shot

All I have to say is your lucky, my surgeon had me on shots at home for twice a day and I have a bruised up abdomen- I have about 15 bruises along with the dang ones from the hospital. Mine are not gone and I am 3 weeks post op and almost a week from all shots taken. Depends on how long it takes you to heal from bruises I guess.

    Having gastric bypass postpartum

I don't have kids but someone in the thread I am for January surgery peeps she was already carrying her 5 month old around in car seat so I was shocked! 😳 So I guess it is ok for some to hold their babies right away. Ask your surgeon about it maybe, or his office staff if they're the ones who usually answer questions.

    Fatigue!!!

Well I've heard that people need to keep up with their protein levels to keep level with your energy needs. So just make sure you're getting in that protein and water so you're not overexerting. Are you sleeping enough at night? IDK I haven't had much fatigue per say, when I need to sit down it's because I'm really sore and feeling pain from my incision areas. Are you getting enough vitamins like D. I was D deficient before surgery so I still take extra in a sublingual (melt on your tongue 👅) pill daily. Maybe also talk to you doctor maybe get some blood testing. Good Luck 🍀 hoping you figure something out.

    January 2020 Surgery Folks

Doesn't really matter if anyone else notices, I mean it's nice but you did this for you and your health I imagine. While it's so nice to be complimented I know I don't like to compliment on people's weight, or ask if they lost weight, because I never felt I looked "bad" being heavy so I would hate to make someone feel like I thought they looked "bad" heavier.

Far as I know you're not suppose to eat. If you have gastric sleeve you can cause internal damages and need to go in for repairs. You need to really stick to only liquids.

Wow throwing up already, luckily I haven't had that with food. Haven't tried too many things yet though. I chew everything like 25 times though - especially any meat. Good luck with your food adventures of rediscovery.

    January 2020 Surgery Folks

Oh wow, I was told not to lift more than 5-10 pounds after surgery. I'm so sore, can barely bend over. Kudos goodness to you for lifting a 5 month old in a car seat - you're super woman

    January 2020 Surgery Folks

Yes all the time, I am so sore there. I use CBD cream on it because that's what I use for my regular cramps (PMS) and it helps. I guess it's just healing?! My surgeon said talk to him in a month or so if it's still hurting.
