  1. Confidence!! I feel so much more like myself. Before I felt insecure and I realize I had become a different version of myself when I was bigger. It’s shocking how different people treat you. I was invisible before and now I get all kinds of looks, smiles, nods, doors opened.. it’s wild! People just strike up conversation with me in grocery stores, at Doctor offices and that NEVER happened before. Also my husband asks me for date night weekly now. It’s not a dig on him, because he still took me out diligently once a month and his love hasn’t changed. But man, it’s like I’m dating my husband all over again and that is worth everything to me. I love his extra attention!

    Hi Everyone!

I feel great! I am down to 147. Another 15 to go. It has been relatively easy but I did work at it. I feel I am now introducing things into my diet I wasn't before so the loss may be less. And I am ok with that. My focus right now is to tone, do weights, and HIIT classes as I am certainly seeing the crepey skin. That I am sure will be my next adventure....feeling comfortable in my new skin. I need to do whatever I can to reduce that look. I plan to do some skin tightening laser treatments to see how that helps. So I feel if it takes me 3 months to get off the last 15-17 pounds but I am working out and seeing definition, I am good with it!

    Butttttttt.....BEST decision I EVER made!!

147?!!?? That’s AMAZING!! I’m just about to break into the 150’s and I seriously can’t believe it! Congrats on the weight loss. You’ve got to be feeling good!

I've been stuck since the "three week slump" for almost two months now. I've talked with my doctor and I'm scheduled to talk with a nutritionist next week. I eat between 800-1200 calories a day. I get plenty of Protein. Getting enough fluids is challenging but I still get in at least 60 ounces a day and most days are closer to 80. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm not running 3 miles a day but I am active. I would really welcome any advice!

Just some things that work for me.. I track food in Baritastic app. My daily goal is Protein 60-80 grams and carbs 25-30 (ish). Staying low carb is what I think keeps the weight coming off. There can be other health reasons why your hitting a stall. But great job reaching out to the doctor and getting some nutrition advice. It’s a journey and hope you’ll be over this hurdle soon!

  4. How is everyone holding up? Any victories or struggles to share? I had an opportunity to go to work with my husband and experience a ride along. Halfway through the day I realized that I fit comfortably in the car with seatbelt, I was able to walk/hike without being winded and my mind wasn’t obsessing on what I was going to eat next. This whole new person has emerged and I can’t believe it sometimes. 55 lbs down and just doing my best to enjoy the new journey.

  5. I had a fat & not so fat clothing sizes that I switched out every few years. This time I’m donating everything. I don’t want just because they fit clothes. I’m working on building a simple wardrobe of only clothes I actually enjoy. Buying some more expensive items that have better durability and style that can last. I was always a bargain shopper and would buy whatever because it was cheap & fit. Now it’s my time to dress the way I always dreamed of.

Anyone out there who has been diagnosed with PCOS/Endometriosis prior to surgery able to shed some insight on what to expect after surgery? Have you noticed your symptoms decreasing or being less severe, etc...? Any information is helpful; I just want to know what I can expect.

I was diagnosed with PCOS/Endometriosis before surgery. I’m only 2 months post op and have not yet noticed any relief as far as pain/symptoms go. I actually had a large cyst rupture 2 weeks ago. But, my Gynecologist is still optimistic that further weight loss might turn things around. His opinion is that it’s too early to determine if a weight change will help. But I did notice small positive results. First time in YEARS I didn’t break out in hormonal acne. My face always bloomed around that time of month and my skin is smooth and looks amazing. Ditching sugar, eating Whole Foods and limiting carbs to 20-30 a day I think is also helping. Sugar can make symptoms worse and I learned that on my own, nobody ever told me. I would of switched my diet years ago if I knew. Hopefully at my year mark I’ll be able to know if the surgery helped.

    Hi,

I was sleeved on 12/22/20. I’m just now finishing up my soft food stage and will be slowly (and nervously) heading back into regular foods next week.

Any tips? Also any thoughts on what kind of diet is best for early post-op sleeve patients (keto, paleo, normal low carb diet)

    Thanks!

I had bypass but I think food reintroduction is the same. Im over 2 months post op and lighter type foods still are my go to. It’s kind of trial and error at first. But cottage cheese, berries, avocados, tomatoes, diced lettuce, lighter cheese & turkey rolls, Soups, yogurts are still my go to foods. chicken is still difficult, so I will boil it in spices/water to soften it up. I can eat a few whole wheat ritz crackers, but other overly crunchy crackers don’t sit great. Peanut butter/almond butter must be in small doses with apple slices or celery.. that’s what works for me. Good luck on the next phase!

Hmmm... Do you think the powder tastes better than the pre-made shakes? I can't get over the taste of the pre-made Premier... I've tried the vanilla, chocolate, caramel and Cookies and cream. I really did WANT to like it, I just couldn't do it...

Absolutely!! The pre made tastes very milky and way artificially sweet. The powder is thick but I add ice with soy milk and I’ve never had a problem with taste. Also I forgot to mention I add PB2 to the shake. Gives it a great flavor & more Protein.

I'm 5 weeks out of WLS now.

    I crave Hot Drinks nowadays.

Don't want to drink milky drinks or tea with milk as it adds up to calories intake.

So my question is if I can drink green tea and how many cups a day?

Sent from my SM-N960F using BariatricPal mobile app

I’m a big tea drinker. The caffeine in green tea (in my opinion) is so low, I don’t even register it as caffeine. I drink warm tea whenever I want and no issues falling asleep at bedtime. It helps me when I think I want carbs at night too. Drinking warm tea cures that instantly. Enjoy!

I broke through the 2nd stall, hallelujah!

I cut out fruit and I made such an easy and yummy Asian soup!

I put green cabbage in the food processor to shred.

Hand chopped some mushrooms. Added 2 oz of cooked chicken. Garlic. Ginger. And chicken broth. Just delish!!

total used was 8oz of vegetables and 2 oz chicken. Good for 2 servings.

Awesome on breaking 2nd stall! I broke through 1st one but then slowed again.. I cut out almonds because I wasn’t measuring them. Fresh & natural ingredients always seem to break up stalls. Hoping I can break mine on Tuesday’s weigh in!

  11. food ideas:
snacks: I’ll roll provolone cheese & turkey together and dip in guacamole, or Handful of blueberries.

Breakfast: went out to eat and ordered mushroom cheddar omelette.

Lunch: Split pea Soup with Isopure Protein powder.

    Dinner: Green Beans & salmon

Anybody try salad? ? I’m craving one but nervous on all the fresh veggies only being 6 weeks out.

Trying my best to stick to high protein, low sugar fruits. But 2-3 crackers always find their way to me at night 🤫🤣

Way to go! Please share what you eat, in what quantity per day.

Here’s a few examples for food for a day:

    Breakfast:
1 Oikos Tripppe Zero yogurt (I almost eat entire serving) and 2 cut up strawberries
    Or..
8oz Soymilk blended with Premier vanilla Protein Powder, 2 tbsp PB2, cinnamon & squirt of stevia (cup of ice)

Lunch: 1-2 oz Grilled Salmon with Capers

Or 1-2 oz Grilled chicken. I’ll make a Caprese salad (mozzarella, oil, basil & balsamic glaze drizzle)

Dinner: Steamed Green Beans and left over Protein from lunch.

Snacks: blueberries, whole almonds or Protein Shakes.

I’ll sneak in a few whole wheat ritz crackers every few days. Simple foods are what is settling good right now. Drinking Water with a splash of Gatorade Zero for flavor or a Mio splash for flavor.

That’s it! Love to hear any other ideas

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has experience Anthem BCBS claim denial for the 2 day hospital stay after the R-N-Y? Surgery was paid but, they are denying the $60K “Room and Board” for the 2 day inpatient stay afterwards. Ugh... I am so sick right now! Any words of wisdom right now would be appreciated.

Ugh, how stressful! Even though you got an outrageous bill, try and remain calm and start working through out. Great advice has already been given. Call your surgeon team and let them work on this for you. Also call your insurance and ask why it was not covered. Sometimes it can be a simple paperwork error or they didn’t receive the right forms from Doctor. I have worked through hospital bills that looked like yours and it can be gut wrenching to see! But stay calm and know that it can be solved. Good luck to you and don’t stress!

I have already been approved for surgery. My surgeon has me on a 3 week preop liquid diet consisting of 3 Protein Shakes a day with Water in between. Im on day 8 and Ive already lost 15 pounds. At this rate if I keep losing like this I will go under my BMI... (I wasn't too far from it to begin with).... can insurance deny surgery if I go under the 35 BMI during preop diet?

Ask your team this question. I’ve read different answers on this. I was really nervous because I was just barely qualifying by weight. I clarified and was able to lose weight after my 5 required weigh ins. Pre op didn’t count against me.
