HI Debbie! Welcome!
I was really uncomfortable for 3 days. Then it really started to diminish. My port site can still be a little tender. I was banded on the 5th
-
My doc said hold off on whole Beans, but refried beans are fine. I haven't had any issues with them....
-
Glad you are home! My appetite took about 5-7 days to come back.

I was banded on the 5th of this month. The liquid diet was not fun. But worth it. My liver was small and the surgery went really well. I am still not on solid foods, but looking forward to tuesday when I can start. I am anxious to get this journey rolling!

I hope you are feeling better today!:biggrin2:

i disagree with all of the above -- you are healing. this is not the time to try to lose weight, but to make sure you're getting all the nutrition you need to heal properly.you have all the time in the world to lose weight -- an extra glass a milk a day while recovering is not going to make a major impact.
I'm with Kristen on this one. The weight you "gained" is from the IV. I know I was swollen for almost 2 weeks. My doc's office repeatedly stressed that they don't worry about weight loss until the first fill. Just take care of yourself!!

Refried Beans go down really easily. But, my doc says to avoid whole Beans for a while (until on solids) as they require the stomach to really work in order to digest them.....
Oh, and so far, eggs, scrambled are good for me. I make them pretty dry, too, I don't like wet eggs. I just chew them like crazy!

The best I can do is liken it to my c-sections. They took about 4-6 weeks to heal. But the got better everyday! I have heard that you can take Vitamin E capsules and break them open and rub that oil on the incisions, but I'd check with the doc first if I were you.
Prayers for a quick healing!

Great! Glad you are feeling well!

My policy w/ anthem bc/bs does specifically state it does not cover wls regardless of the reason. I just wondered if anyone every appealed this and what result did you get.I have the same insurance in OH. There are Anthem BC/BS plans that do cover the surgery. You just have to have the right policy. From everything I found out talking to them, there are no exceptions. Sorry:thumbdown:

Looking good!!!

I am in the same place. Not losing. So I am looking forward to the fill.

You are going to do great!! Anytime you have surgery, it is a little nerve wracking, but you are going to do beautifully! You may be a little sore for a few days, but it is sooooo going to be worth it when you are svelt and gorgeous!

Hi Cami
I am living there too. And it scares me! I am not eating much now and not losing. How will a fill make that better? It's kind of a scary place to be!
-
That is awesome!!!

My first fill is scheduled for 9/5!! I am excited!! The nurse did warn me that most people gain weight the last 2 weeks before the first fill. That means my fill will be done 4 weeks and 2 days after my surgery!!
-
I am so sorry. I know we can all say you are better off without him (and you are) but that doesn't make it any less painful. Hang in there! You are a precious, special human being and someday, the right person will realize that!
-
That is wonderful! Don't be down on yourself if you start to lose more slowly, all loss is good!

Yup, sure did.....not proud of it, but my liver looked great during surgery:thumbup:

I hope everything goes well for all of you!!

I was banded the 5th, too. And am in the same spot. Can eat quite a bit. That is good news. It means that the swelling is down in your stomach. You are healing well! My dr. office said it is not unusual at all to gain weight in weeks 3 and 4. In fact, most people do! I haven't gained, but I am not losing either. My first fill is on the 5th of Sept. when is yours?
