    June 2020 surgeries

I used stool softeners from day 1, and when it got bad I cheated and got a big ole cup of coffee! lol That cleared me out quick! But It was necessary. I take 2 stool softeners every morning and it mostly helps, still a little hard, but I do what I gotta do and coffee is a life saver.

    JUNE 2020 BYPASSERS

My surgery date is June 24th, and its getting very real. This whole ride has been so stressful! My original date was April 1st, and like most of us that was cancelled. I am stuck in Michigan which was one of the last states to loosen regulations. By the time they did that, my work decided to tell me that I only had a couple weeks left and I would be laid off permanently!! My worst fear! To go thru all of this just to lose my insurance! I was actually calling out of state to Texas to switch surgeons to a state that was already scheduling. By the grace of the Lord that same day my surgeon called and had a date open on the 24th! I was so excited! and 3 days later was laid off. with 2 weeks to my surgery I was frantic and scraping together money to pay for the Cobra insurance(oh my lord that's expensive), but I didn't care what the cost, it was cheaper than paying out of pocket. I just felt so stuck. How was I supposed to get and take time off for medical? What would my chances of getting good insurance be ? So I decided to wait it out. Doing the surgery on Cobra, and heal, and then job hunt. I hope unemployment doesn't take as long as they are saying. Been on a 2 week liquid diet of protein shakes and clear fluids. I have not been perfect, but not bad either. I haven't lost a ton of weight from it as I was already eating low carb well before starting. My high weight was 310 back in March, and I am at 289 as of today. ABout 5 pounds of it is from the liquid diet. I am 5'4 and 41 years old. Sorry this is long. I am doing this kinda alone. My parents and both my kids know, they are adult girls over 20. But I live alone- I have been alone for a very long time and quite enjoy my solace. But I it is odd to not have someone to talk to about this stuff. My kids are helpful but they are young and wrapped up in their own lives. I can say my dad has been my rock though. Wondering if anyone else lives completely alone like me- I never even get visitors and I have zero social life. Is it hard for others to stay accountable somedays because there is no one to see it? I consider myself very positive and very independent and strong, but wow sometimes I have to apologize to myself and ease up I suppose.

    June 2020 surgeries

now that makes no sense. I was scheduled to covid test today, my surgery is june 24, but they sent me away and said I had to do the test within 72 hours of my surgery????

    Impatient- I hate the unknown.

you can switch and have your info and completed stuff transferred. insurance will have to resubmit if you're at that stage. I was going through the process and flying to Texas to have my surgery cuz michigan wouldn't reopen. but the day of my final consult my original doctor in michigan called and gave me a date..I already was insurance approved and just waiting. so yes it is possible to switch. it delays a little but if somewhere else is caught up amd scheduling it's worth the phone call and tell them your position.

    June 2020 surgeries

Finally got my reschedule date!! was April 1st then the world went to hell. Now it is June 24th! I start my liquid diet next week..yikes!! I'm so thrilled though, so over the wait!
  7. I find it ridiculous that they consider your surgery elective if a kidney transplant is pending it! ummm kinda necessary!
  8. the information i got on federal and state guidelines says that the state of emergency in the specific state must be lifted before any surgeries are scheduled, and then it's up to the hospital as to whether or not they are supplied and staffed. so I really think most of us will be seeing our surgeries getting scheduled by mid may to june
  9. I feel you. I fell off the wagon hard when they cancelled mine. 2 huge things in my life this year was finally getting my surgery approval and graduating college, and both are cancelled. Its feels like why bother?? Me being healthy isn't considered essential to anyone else so why should I care?? I'm in depression mode hard.
  10. You can guarantee it's on hold. Once the state of emergency happens- all elective surgeries and procedures are postponed until after it is lifted. Already lived that reality here. I was april 1, state of emergency cancelled.it. now it's an indefinite wait. Most doctors are predicting July august before we get scheduled. Maybe june if we are lucky
  11. Several people that were in my preop class were in that situation as they had already been on liquid diet and then just cancelled same day as me. I was supposed to start my in 2 days. It sucks for all of us. I know everything happens for a reason but I was really hoping to have lost some weight and be able to enjoy a little bit of summer this year. At this rate I'm spending another summer too fat to go anywhere all summer.
  12. Yep, that's exactly how mine went. Completley heart broken. Now, it's a week to week game. With no quick answers as all of my final required appointments are cancelled. When they do start rescheduling the other appointments will be impossible to get making me wait longer fornsure. So frustrated.
  13. I'm in michigan, april 1st surgery date. All surgeries cancelled until March 31st, and then we have no idea. No one knows. But due to the liquid diets all.of us are delayed no matter what happens now. I was in a preop class when we were told.the news.
  14. I was just cancelled indefinitely. Mine was april 1st. Just left my preop testing this morning then got the news. They cancelled everyone

    April 2020

So mine was just cancelled. We have less than 50 cases in the entire state, and they cancelled all surgeries. I'm so upset.

    Possible delay of appointment

Mine did the diet stuff individually in 2 separate appointments of 1 hour each. Lasted maybe 45 min each. Without a large group asking questions it goes faster truly. And I liked it better- felt more Tailored to me rather than just a generalization.
  17. I wouldn't consider wls an elective surgery. Once you have medical necessity proven for insurance approval and a surgery date you most likely will get the surgery. Wouldn't be surprised if they do testing just before of course.

    April 2020

I'm just nervous period that somehow my surgery will get cancelled due to all the nonsense. Like its low priority or hospitals get overwhelmed with people freaking out. They've already cancelled school for the next month, store shelves are empty, I'm going to be mad if this ridiculous hysteria makes me get cancelled. Its stupid that we should have to go to these lengths. If it was any other surgery they would be on board. However if you have been at that job for more than a year I believe they dont have a choice beciase FMLA protects you. Honestly switching jobs is probably better as I wouldn't want to work for someone with that attitude anyway! I'm glad ita all working out for you!

Well I doubt I'm going to be that lucky! As long as I'm not on full liquid diet for as long as some of these guys say, I've seen some say 30 days! I think I'm 7 or 10 day for sure, hopefully 2 shakes a day and a specific meal. That's kinda close to what I do now. How long are you taking off work if that applies to you?

    April 1, 2020

I have my first of 3 appointments starting Thursday. Itll be the one that gets me most the info I need to know I'm sure. I'm still not sure what my preop diet looks like, I know I'm supposed to be buying something called Impact shakes which has me worried. I'm picky about my protien shakes! Lol
