  1. This past week I started eating salads. With cucumbers etc. it sits so much better than so many foods! It was so refreshing. The cucumber and celery!!! And tomatoes! I have missed them also!! It’s just lighter to me. It feels lighter it doesn’t feel stuck.
Omg I am so jealous lol. I was a vegetarian for a few years, I actually the surgery made me start eating chicken and fish again because of the Protein level. having a nice fresh crunchy salad was a daily staple. And I really do miss it.

  3. All of southeast Colorado is also fields corn and nothing lol people think all fo Colorado are huge mountains lol but it’s not. Most of it it but there are chicks everywhere that is agriculture flat plains.
my brother-in-law and parents-in-law live in fort Collins, I'd like to live in one of the communities outside of it because much like Denver it's become quite populated. No more flat ground for me lol ideally I'd like to live in the Yukon or Alaska somewhere, but I think it would be too far from my family

  4. Awesome. Yes we love our mountains. I live in Denver so very close to all the action we have season passes to Aspen Vail Breckinridge. I love to travel. Haven’t visited the U.K. but will soon! My sister just moved there with her husband he is in the military!
I live in Iowa. I love my neighbors and friends but hate the state. Moved here ten years ago for husband's military contracting job on the arsenal. We're originally from NJ and NY family now lives in Virginia Beach and his family lives in Colorado which is likely where we'll be moving once the kids go to college and get out of my house lol I need space and mountains and outdoor things to do. I feel trapped by flat plains and no forests or mountains here

  5. Morning smoothie time! (After the first pic I add 1 c of unsweetened vanilla almond milk and 1 scoop Genepro).

This has become my staple and an easy way to get in Protein, fruit, and veggies (and fluid) without rushing into actual food first thing on the morning, which has always been hard for me. I hate all commerical Protein Drinks but can handle this we'll and it's yummy! 00100lrPORTRAIT_00100_BURST20200220081518620_COVER.jpg IMG_20200220_081809.jpg

  6. Oh thanks I'm gonna get the app! And I've been toying with the idea of a glass of red wine. I am German and grew up on beer and wine with meals and it's just so cultural it's been hard to break! I miss my wine and crunchy things the most lol

By glass I mean like 2-3 ounces and I plan to wait a couple more weeks haha

  8. Wow!! When do you find time to solo workout at all??!! Sounds weird but each of my babies was my workout partner. I recently saw a YouTube video with a mother doing the same exercises with her new baby that I used to do 37 and 32 years ago with my new babies. The babies love it and you get good and strong and limber!!
I work from home and my kids are in school all day so I usually go around lunch time. It helps break up the day! Also, my husband is a true blue partner and would always pick up my slack if I wanted to go another time. He's running kids around as we speak because I was too cold to move and it's like 8 degrees out lol

  9. During my stall I lost 10”!!!! This it totally tru the scale and inches don’t move together as per my PA. I do love my exercise. But I always have and gym memberships here are cheap 9.99. I don’t utilize personal training my husband is very fit so if I have any questions I just ask him and we research together. I was in stall my week 4 and it broke. After 7 days. I’m now losing about 4lbs a week. How is eating going? Can u tolerate more foods?
Eating is going well. I really like poke bowls so I had just the ahi and the avocado out of it and it was so good and went down so well. I really haven't introduced too much else since I'm not at week four. But the other day I had canned tuna (with mayo) and was fine. Two nights ago I had it again and five minutes later was wretching but of course nothing was coming up.

Foods that I do well with are: soft cheese, banana, avocado, raw ahi tuna, cooked tilapia, chicken thigh, yogurt, cottage cheese, refried Beans and sour cream. I kind of just rotate those thru. I plan to try oatmeal tomorrow.

I so miss my raw veggies and salads. And anything crunchy really.

  10. At 6-1/2 weeks post-op I no longer consider the slower weight loss a stall and welcome it. We lose so rapidly the first three weeks that we expect massive and rapid weight loss it to continue and not only is that not good, it’s not realistic. We didn’t gain the weight overnight and we won’t lose it overnight. My 6-1/2 week average weekly loss is 4-1/2 pounds per week and I’m thrilled with that because I’m not doing any strenuous or excessive exercise. I clean and do laundry and walk to the store and that’s all I plan I’m doing because for me, exercise has to be a natural activity. When I was younger I was obsessed with the high of body building and jogging and was in the gym 6 days per week running 3 miles and then weightlifting with an ex-professional weight lifter. Sure, I felt strong and wore a size 4 while weighing 145 pounds but guess what? It wasn’t a sustainable way of life. I think of all those hours spent in the gym and all the money spent paying for the membership and personal trainer and it’s not an experience that I can say I’m proud of doing. So anyway, losing an average of 4-1/2 pounds per week while doing activities that contribute to my and my family’s quality of life fulfills me much more than spending two hours in a gym. I get sweaty, muscles get sore, and every day I’m able to walk up and down the stairs easier and stretch a little more. This is in no way saying it’s not good to run to the gym or do strenuous exercise. While I was doing it, I loved every minute of it. Probable because it was 25 years ago. But I feel more in touch with my body today than I did back then and I realize when the scale isn’t moving, my body is busy making other repairs-like losing a total of 16 inches during the 3 weeks that the scale didn’t budge.
Yeah I definitely saw changes this week even though I didn't lose anything! I like the gym for my own sanity but I don't kill myself there or plan to go hard like CrossFit it HIIT anytime soon. Life in and of itself is exercising when you have two teenagers in every activity lol

  11. I have the same issue with smoothies also but I’m gonna try without the fair life milk in morning and with almond milk I was trying to get more Protein in.. I had watermelon [emoji525] today I thought it was gonna be a tragedy but it stayed down and went well and it was sweet at this time of the year.. we are having snow tomorrow here in NC. I have also fell in a stall no change in scale in a few days so I’m praying that things change soon.. I was on a roll with 20lbs down since surgery on 27th of Jan[emoji2374]
I use the unsweetened vanilla almond milk and it works great for me. I can't do thick creamy liquids. They just don't go down well.

I was down 16 pounds from 246 to 230 and I've sat at 230 for the last 6 days. Despite waking over 10k steps every day this weekend when in Chicago. I know it's expected and it's comforting to know none of us are alone in this stupid ass stall. Hahaha.

  12. Chicken sat great with me also. I can’t drink very much of my smoothie it’s pathetic how I make it. I add 5spinach leaves (I freeze my fresh spinach) 2 blue berries and one strawberry and 1/4 cup of almond milk unsweetened. And it takes me 3 hours to drink it. It makes so much!! Ugh [emoji30] but it does help with energy!
Wow that's nuts. I use a handful of spinach, around a cup of frozen fruit, about a cup of almond milk and my GENEPRO. It takes me an hour or two but I drink it while I work so I get side tracked. Maybe bc I'm rny things slide down super easy.?

  13. I branched out today and tried some new foods for Breakfast. I was bored of eggs, so I opened a 2oz can of tuna, added about half an ounce of light mayo and then topped it with a half an ounce of mozzarella. Warmed it all up. Took about 40 minutes to eat, but went down smoothly and is sitting comfortably. Happy to have another option. What else is everyone eating that's you're excited about?

I was able to eat a chicken thigh with NO issues this weekend. It was so great. I was so scared of chicken based on other people's experience and it was delicious and filling and I felt great.

I have a green smoothie every morning and it helps my morning energy a lot.

  14. I had surgery on 27th and I was 265 and I’m down to 243 today but seem like standstill now my goal is also 150 and I’m 5’7.
I'm in the three week stall too. Surgery on 27th as well. scale will not move and hasn't for like 5-6 days but I have seen differences so just keep trucking! It happens to everyone. And again at 3 months I heard too .

  15. Anyone else have this problem?
I had my vsg done on 1/6 and had no problem with the surgical tape they used, but I had my gallbladder out on 2/7 and for whatever reason, all five of my incisions are red and inflamed and itchy. I went to the doctor today and got a steroid shot (my surgeon approved of it) to help, but I was wondering if anyone else experienced this? Any idea how long the itching will last? I took the tape off them, so just waiting for the rash to die down. Boo. [emoji20]
Also, there is no infection or anything, just the allergy. Thank goodness.

I'm allergic to the adhesive and glue they use too. It's a pain in the ass lol

  16. So my date is coming up in a week, and I just had some random questions for those who have already had bypass. Or those who may know the answer!
    1. Did you have a JP drain with your procedure?
    2. Did they Cath you?
    3. How did you take large meds post-op? Or meds by mouth at all? Were you able to swallow ok?

    Thanks in advance! [emoji3590]

No drain or cath. Easy surgery for me. I was home the next day. I am allowed to take small pills but need to break up small ones.

  17. Oh wow, I was told not to lift more than 5-10 pounds after surgery. I'm so sore, can barely bend over. Kudos goodness to you for lifting a 5 month old in a car seat - you're super woman
And my doctor cleared me for the weight machines at the gym (provided I can get in 500 cals a day) at my two week post op appt.

There literally is no standard in bariatric surgery. I also believe every person may have different recommendations. For instance I was fairly young and fit before surgery and had no pain, incision or otherwise within a few days after surgery. But there may be an older person who has been sedentary and unfit. We may get two very different recommendations from our doctor's.

  18. I’m a transplant patient and required to take meds twice daily. How do you get meds down? For practice, I tried crushing a Tylenol and mix it with Jello and just about vomited. Do all meds need crushed? What about capsules? Small pills? I can’t find any info on this.
For the first couple weeks I was told to crush everything. After two weeks they let me take small pills like my birth control. But said I can start swallowing pills at 4 weeks. I think part of the problem is that you want them to absorb properly and if you have RNY you may not have proper absorbtion if you swallow. At least at first. And especially with what I assume are anti rejection meds, you definitely want those to absorb!

I had a couple pills that were so nasty when I crushed them I would gag for like ten minutes after from the bitter taste. I found out what worked best was mixing it with a Gatorade and putting it in a large syringe and putting as far back in my mouth as I could to avoid my tongue. Then I'd have an ice pop on hand to chase it. I'd take a bite of it and let it melt on my tongue and it helped.

Your doctor may have additional information of course.

Good luck, you can do this. We can do anything!
