Just push through and walk as much as you can. That's what helped me after my abdominal reconstruction. And don't be shy asking for pain meds! Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk -

My RNY surgery is Monday and I'm starting to freak out. My surgeon is one of the best and I'm relatively healthy otherwise so I have no real reason to worry. I had an abdominalplasty (tummy tuck) to remove skin and fix diastasis rectis (separation of an muscles) five years ago. I've also had multiple orthopedic surgeries (hockey) ansnmy gall bladder removed so it's not the pain I'm worried about, pain I got lol. But because of the previous abdominal surgery I'm worried there will be too much scar tissue inside and not enough skin to "blow up my stomach cavity" and have to have an open, which is such a longer harder recovery. I guess I'm curious if anyone else has been in a similar situation? It seems everyone's recovery is so varied - some people are miserable and some are fine in days. I work from home in publishing and research so planned to work a few days after surgery (deadlines wait for no man lol) Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk -

There is a bariatric recipe group on Facebook but so much of them are "keto" which isn't healthy for me personally (I can't do high fat, I don't handle it well). I do intend to remain low carb so some posts and recipe ideas are helpful. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk -

We made a ton of homemade broths so I made a lot of soups - some just broth and flavors and some pureed and some with veggies - basically some for each stage of post op. Also anything I've been making for dinner lately, I've been putting some in small containers and labeling it for what week I can have it. Figure each container will get me through 1-3 meals. So far I've stocked away chicken and broccoli bake, carnita cauliflower rice bowls, teriyaki salmon burgers with grilled pineapple, spinach and feta crustless quiches. I always get my kettle going and use a little boiling water to dissolve the powder fully. Then add my cold water. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk -

At least 80 g. I'm on two drinks a day plus I'm allowed to eat low fat high protein food. I've had eggs and chicken so far today. Just feel so blah Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk -

I've been pre-op for a week and I've had a headache and general malaise the last four days and I'm not even on a strict liquid diet! I'm sure it's from lowered carbs and whatnot (I quit caffeine months ago) but I'm so used to reaching for ibuprofen and instead I just suffer. Tylenol doesn't work for crap for me. Trying to extra hydrate and even had a small cup of coffee today to try and break it but nothing. Magic cures? Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk -

gastric bypass side effects
BadWolfGirl replied to skyewolfe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think everyone's body is different and you should always contact your doctor if you feel something is not right FOR YOU. For instance, I have bile reflux so I literally don't remember the last time I had normal bathroom habits. Also, pain meds do not cause me constipation. Everyone's normal is different. Ugh that's hard! Just be firm and say it's your body, your health, and you made the decision. I have told my friends and family (mostly so they understand why the whisky girl isn't drinking or cooking for everyone or hosting dinners) and though I am overweight and looking forward to not being so, my motivation was mostly health related as I have severe GERD, Barrets esophagus, and shitty esophageal stalsis. So it was either this or die young from esophageal cancer or one of the hundreds of other things that can be prevented by losing weight. Obesity is a health risk WITHOUT comorbidities and you are making the best choice you can to live a long healthy life. The very very minimal risk outweighs the alternative in my opinion. I had to have a required therapist appointment and she gave me a way to spin things when someone said something I didn't agree with, whether positive (dude I look good now, so hush with your societal ideals on my weight bearing on my looks) or negative (people judging, offering their opinions). She said to say this: "Thank you for the concern/compliment. I have had some health issues for a while now and had a medical procedure to help me get better. And one of the outcomes/side effects is weight loss. " This way, you take back who YOU are. You are not your weight. You are a person trying to be healthy. Surgery is a tool. Not who you are. And if they don't like that, there's always the middle finger. Lol Good luck, you got this! Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk -
