    Allergic reactions..

I'm not a doctor, but the first thing I thought about was a possible reaction to the bread after you hadn't eaten it for so long. Maybe you'd cleared it out of your system and that dose of bread did not sit well?
  2. I'm 58; I was sleeved Oct 6, 2020. I also highly recommend it! We are never too old to reach our goals, IMHO. 😉

4-5 weeks post food consumption yucky feel

I was very tired for the first 6 weeks; my energy built up again gradually. I also got sick of sweet-tasting things. Protein broth (pre-mixed) or low-sodium broth mixed with unflavored protein powder worked beautifully for me. Savory and warm was a welcome change from cold/sweet protein drinks. Ricotta/ cottage cheese/ hummus were life savers too.
  4. I agree, the early stages were quite easy. I also ate a lot of the same things every day, including protein broth, yogurt, eggs (never finished in one meal) and protein shakes. Since then, it's been trial and error. Some foods sit well, and others do not. I could not stand Premiere shakes anymore post-op for example.
  5. I'm not sure what to tell you...However, I've found that certain foods agree with me more than others: hummus, chicken, shrimp, and salmon, Core Power protein shakes, Almond crackers (eaten with hummus). I can't tolerate ground beef or steak, and most protein bars make me feel nauseated. It came down to trial and error for me. As for getting water in---I sip, sip, sip---little by little all day. I hope you are able to find a solution that works for you.

    Hungry at night?

When I feel hungry, even after hitting my protein goals, I drink some water and wait to see if that helps. Often it does.

LOOKING For a GOOD, Reasonably Priced Fitness Tracker

    Thanks, everybody!
  9. LOOKING For a GOOD, Reasonably Priced Fitness Tracker I bought a Fitbit in 2016 and did not use it until 2019. It died in early 2020 while I was doing my pre-op weight loss diet. I don't want to spend quite so much this time around. Amazon and a bunch of other vendors have a slew of low-cost fitness trackers. Some are modeled on Fitbit, some look like large-face wrist-watches. Anybody have a good experience with any of these? Links and your reviews/opinions appreciated!
  10. WHEN did you start REALLY WORKING OUT? I'm 2 months post-op from the sleeve and mostly happy with my weight loss. I've been walking, doing a little yoga, stretching, and a little light weight training at home with a 5/10/15 kettlebell set my brother gave me for my August birthday. However, now I really want to tone up more. I'm thinking of braving my local Recreation Centers that have great weight/circuit training/cardio equipment in January or February 2021 when I'm 3 months or 4 months out. Of course, my plans will be dependent on the ever-growing COVID-19 numbers drastically decreasing. (Man, Listen---I'm not happy at all that I paid my yearly dues in February and then the Va Beach Rec Centers closed in March. ) When did you really start doing dedicated workouts? If you work out at home, what do you do? Did you invest in any equipment?
  11. LOOKING FOR RECCOMENDATIONS FOR LOW-CARB/LOW SUGAR/LOW FAT/HIGH PROTEIN BARS Please share your favorite brands/buys. I like Quest bars. Looking at Premiere, too.
  12. How was your Thanksgiving? Mine was quiet and low-key---just my 17-year-old son and I. Usually we gather with my two brothers and their families, but with the COVID-19 numbers going crazy high in Southeastern Virginia we decided to sit Family Thanksgiving 2020 out and wait until Christmas. I got a 14 pound turkey at Kroger for under $5.00 (great sale!) and cooked low-fat versions of the traditional side-dishes for my son. He has lost 15 pounds since I began my WLS journey. I'm proud he has been open to making changes. I was prepared to just have turkey and a little low-fat gravy.....but then I added 2 tablespoons each of mashed potatoes, dressing, and green bean casserole. Not a good move. Even though I could NOT FINISH my very small portions, I felt ill. AND....I gained 4 pounds. What!? Took me a week and a half to lose those 4 pounds PLUS lose 2 more. I was incredibly annoyed with myself! Happy to be back on track now. Looking ahead to Christmas, we will do Christmas day dinner with the family. And I will stick to my plan! Anyone else making plans/guidelines for Christmas?
  13. Thanks! I think I'll give BariatricPal Protein bars a try.

Water aerobics sounds like fun. Will have to try that.
  17. I'm 2 months out post-op and while I do fine with protein shakes like CORE Power 24 gram (usually Chocolate, and protein bars like Quest, I find myself constantly getting nauseated by regular food. Anyone else experience this? Any tips? Thanks! p.s. Otherwise, I'm doing well and happy with my weight loss, even though there is a tiny part of me that sometimes thinks my progress is too slow. Lol

    Feeling Nauseated by Regular Food

Thank you, Arabesque. I have a feeling you are spot on about the multi-vitamins and the lactose. And, yes, indeed, my taste buds have changed. I will call my team,/dietician.

    Too old for plastics?

I'm 58 and I know I will be looking into plastics once I reach my goal. I'll probably wait a few months after I reach goal to see if my skin naturally tightens a bit. But I'm almost completely positive a breast lift is in my future. Age ain't nothin but a number 😉 I hope you do what feels right for you.

    Poll

I lost 34 pre-op, and then 16 pounds in the first month and another 16 pounds in the second month. It is different for each of us. I understand that it feels slow to you; mine sometimes seems slow to me. But, really--- you and I are doing well!
