What Age Were You When You Got The Lap Band Surgery?
I was banded at 23, and am still working towards goal, and even though it has been painfully slow for me, I am SO GLAD that I did it!

Utah Forum!
Hello to everyone! I live in SLC, but was banded by Dr. Kirshenbaum in Denver, Co. seeing as I didn't have insurance to cover it. He was several thousand cheaper than the SLC Dr's I looked into.

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
Well, I am all set to get a fill on the 12th. Sorry I can't make RR the night before. I just changed my schedule and am not taking any classes this semester so my only days off are Tuesday and Thursday. And since I am the only one with a job I really can't miss work. I am really excited to get back on with losing. I started weighing myself again, and must say that I am pleased that I haven't gained anything being as loose as I am. I just need to focus on staying on track for me.

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
So I haven't been losing still, but haven't been gaining. I am going in for a fill hopefully in January. But I went shopping with my Mom the other day and she insisted that I try on this purple shirt that was a 16/18. It fits pretty good, although it is a stretchy shirt. I am also fitting into some of my "skinny" sister's clothes that she is giving away. She is a 16, and her dresses fit great, but my butt/waist area is about a 22. So I guess I am saying all of this to convince myself that I am still making progress. Even though I am not losing. I hope the pictures work. Just my before and after here, if you want to see progression, then you can go to my album.

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
Well, I decided to listen to my husband and not worry about getting a fill until after the holidays. I just feel like a failure because that would mean that this year I only lost 25 lbs. I am paranoid about gaining. And I just want this to be done, because I have no patience. Anyway, done complaining. I will try for a stress free holiday season, and maybe I won't weigh myself for a while.

Actually he didn't remove all of it, just about 5 or 6 cc's. Butit made such a huge difference! Nannying is going great! And we love the new place. DH is still struggling with the knee thing, and I am starting to think about just sendind out his medical records to different doctors and explaining the situation, and hoping someone will pick him up for replacement surgery. I hope when I get pregnant I won't have anything that bad. Fingers crossed!!! How are things going for you?

Just thought I wold check in and say hi! Not much going on here. My unfill has been bliss!! I am getting much less reflux, and am not having trouble eating now. I am hoping to set up a fill after Thanksgiving, and if I need another, just before Christmas, because we will have a 5 hour layover in Denver on our way to my Mom's for Christmas. I haven't been gaining at all, just playing around with the same few pounds, but I didn't expect to lose with the unfill. I am just grateful that it is so much easier to eat now, but I need to reign it in so I don't get carried away  . I hope you are all doing well, and maybe someday my fills will sync up with you guys so I can come to RR sometime too!

Yes, the reflux is still there and When do any hot liquids I can feel one spot going down that really hurts. I guess that must still be the swelling. They said give it about 3 weeks before thinking about getting another fill. Let the swelling go down and all. I can eat salads again, which makes me VERY happy! And I can drink my breakfast protein shake cold in about 10 minutes. It used to take 30 and hurt the whole time. I know that I am going to need a fill, but I am going to try really hard to not gain.

YAY!!! I just had my unfill! Dr. K took out .4 and I feel SO MUCH BETTER!!! I had 2 chicken strips and a 5 ounce bowl of salad at the hospital cafeteria to test it out. I haven't been able to eat salad for so long!!!! I am ecstatic! I can go back to eating what I am supposed to because I actually can EAT IT!!! I am looking forward to making food again because I can eat!!! YAY!!! I love unfills!!! Ok, maybe I am a little crazy, but it really has been about 6 months since I have been able to eat things besides soups and slider foods, but I still managed to lose 20lbs in 6 months. I am headed home now, waiting for my flight. I hope it's less bumpy than the last one. It's the only time I have actually gotten nauseated on a flight.

So I weighed myself today and I have lost 4 lbs. No clue how. Been trying really hard to get in more calories. I am still going in for the unfill though, hopefully they won't take too much, but I would like to be able to eat more solid foods. Maybe they will just take out a teeny itty bitty bit

I hope that it gives immediate relief. Sometimes I can't even eat cheese! Milk sours and separates in my pouch, and then stays there, sometimes until I have to throw it up TMI sorry. I really hope they don't take much out though. I REALLY don't want to gain!!!
