Thanks! Well, it is looking like I will get a fill on the 2nd or 3rd. It kind of depends. It will be a layover thing though, so it will be a short trip. I will be on my way back to Utah after being in Illinois helping my Mom move. Hopefully the heat and humidity will help me lose a few pounds :bolt: I am leaving first thing in the morning so I'd better log off. Goodnight all!

I have actually found that a peppermint candy (since I don't have any fresh peppermint) helps me a lot with that overfull feeling. I keep a stash of candy canes in food storage just in case.

Not a lot going on for me this summer. I am not losing at all, but am hoping to schedule a fill the first week of august. Still eating lots of protein, and making sure I get enough water. I just need help with the portions I guess. I am getting back to my exercising and am doing pretty good at that. No word from Dr. K's office about whether or not I will get reimbursed for the cost of the port. They did tell me that trying to sue the company is a "pipe dream". Oh well. Hopefully I will get the $600 or so back for my port. I got a call from the principal of the school I work at and she said that the new principal would be "going in a different direction" for music in the next school year. I was disappointed, but imagine my surprise when I logged on to the district website to find that my position had been posted as a vacancy!!! I was very upset, as I had a very good recommendation letter from my principal and a teacher at that school, and have been there 2 years! I went straight down to the district office and talked with HR. They had no clue what was going on, but I reapplied and applied for another music teacher position in the district. I am still pretty upset about it. My husband has not been able to find a job, and now I am out of one too! At least we have a place to live. We just applied for medicaid which will hopefully help cover any Dr visits that my DH needs for his knees. He did find one Dr that accepts medicaid for knee replacement surgery so we are really hoping that he will be able to get it. Sorry to vent all my issues today, it all just seemed to come pouring out.

I am so sorry you have had such a hard year. I lost my Dad to cancer in april of 09 so just before you lost yours. I understand what you are going through!! :grouphug: You are still doing amazing!! Congrats on the 80 lbs down!!

I paid $9950. I went to Denver. My Dr only does self pay patients and is part owner in the surgical center so he can keep the prices low. It includes 3 months of fills and visits. Every fill after is only 20-30 depending on if you pay with cash or card. The office is wonderful and he is so great!!! I fly there every time I want a fill because the cost to go there is about the same as a fill locally by a different doc. He has financial plans available, but I don't know much about that because mine was cash. Anyway, good luck!! Anyone know of an attorney that has had experience with lapband related cases? This has nothing to do with my Dr. It has to do with the manufacturer and I just need to talk to someone to see if it would be worth pursuing.

I thought it would be better not to mention the exact band, as I don't want to cause problems. But I might after I figure out what I'm going to do.

I want to preface by saying that this is not about my Dr., but about the manufacturer of my band. Now to start my story. I was banded in July 08 and did very well for the first year. I lost about 65 lbs and am very happy with my band experience. I lost my Father to cancer in April 09 and became too tight. I tried to deal with it. But my husband also lost his job, so I had to wait for money to get a flight to Denver to get an unfill (I only see my surgeons office for fills because it costs about the same to get a plane ticket and go to his office as it is to get a fill here). So I went in for an unfill in October and it helped immensely. I returned in January to get another fill, and hadn't gained, but had lost a little. By April I had the feeling I needed another fill, so I got one. 3 days later I felt NO restriction. I made another appointment and flew out to figure out what was going wrong. My Surgeon pulled out the saline and there was only 1.2cc's (supposed to be 6.4) So he determined I had a leak. So I schedule a port replacement at my surgeons urging. I had gained 20 lbs by the time I had my replacement. My surgeon discovered that my tubing had eroded causing a 1/8 inch tear. He informed me that I was the 4th case he had been involved with that had this problem. Always in the same place in the tubing and is a manufacturers defect. He also informed me that he will be talking with the manufacturers of my band about their financial responsibility for the cost of the parts and the replacement surgery. I feel that is completely appropriate. They have damaged his reputation with their faulty product. What I want to know is, should I go after them for the cost of the flights, hotel, medications, weight gain, physical toll, emotional damage? Or do you think I am making too much out of this? I am obviously new to this and would love some constructive input.

Hi Becca! Yeah, I get the double edged sword thing! But it really is worth it! Welcome t our thread. I just rejoined about a month ago. These guys are wonderful, and very supportive! A note on me this week. Still sore, and limited to what I can do. For some reason I thought I would be back to my exercising already. Then I thought. "It hasn't even been a week!" I just need to calm down a little. I am excited to lose again, but I have to wait for my body to heal.

Yeah, the scars will fade eventually. I had my band almost 2 years ago, and I can't even find one of my scars. My bigger one will probably stick around a lot longer, but the others are going. Sorry it takes you so long to deal with the Anesthesia. I am holding my own pretty good today with lortab and ibuprofen.

Ouch! Sorry! My dr just went through my original port scar so I just have the big one to heal again. I am pretty sore today, but the second and third days are the worst though right? I hope you feel better!

Ok, I am at our hotel and doing very well. I woke up a lot easier from my drugs than I did last time. I noticed right when the nurse had me sip juice that I have restriction! YAY! Not a lot, but a lot more than nothing! Also Dr k showed the port and tubing to my mom and it has a 1/8 in tear in the tubing. This is the 4th time it has happened to one of Dr k's patients. He told her that he is meeting with the company that makes them on Friday to discuss how they should be financially responsible for not only the part cost, but the cost of the patients replacement surgeries as well. So we may get our money back for this one! Too bad I can't make them magically lose the weight I gained in the mean time. Oh well. I did really well my first year and plan on doing that well again this year. Plus I exercise a great deal more now than I did then.
