    Surgery TOMORROW

Oh gosh, I am so nervous. I've been trying to keep busy as much as possible, but I've been having stress heart burn and runs (it's nothing I ate or anything, it just happens when I'm super stressed). My surgery is at 930am tomorrow. I am so worried that something will go wrong and I can't go through... I've followed all the rules and did my best, but... I am literally vibrating.

    Surgery TOMORROW

Honestly (knock on wood), my back and throat hurt pretty bad, but that's about it. My throat because they did my endoscopy and leak test at the same time (I'm SO happy I didn't have to be awake for that). I'm up walking about every 30-45 minutes, and am super glad I can bring burps up pretty easy right now. My husband has to get me up to early every two hours tonight when I go to bed, so it's gonna be a long night.

    Surgery TOMORROW

I made it. Had a panic attack right before but the surgeon and nurses helped me down. Worst part is back pain right now.

    Surgery TOMORROW

I live in Nevada, so my surgery center is in Vegas, so I figured I'd live it up with shows and fun. I'm doing better; I had to call my surgeon to make sure imodium was ok. I'm sitting watching TV and sipping water while I can- I have another 50 minutes before I can't have more until after. I will keep y'all posted. I'm trying my best and I am very fortunate to have a lot of support, including you guys. It does make it feel so much better that I'm not alone in this.

Totally trying. We are in Vegas so we got some fun things to do... went and did an escape room and got to do a wreck room (where you take a baseball bat, crowbar, etc, to breakable things as hard as you want). That de-stressed a lot lol. My surgery is tomorrow first thing in the morning, and it's hard to get my brain to think of things other than "WORRY." 😕

I am too. Doing my best to stay busy and distracted. Went and walked around the mall in Vegas yesterday, walked a mile and just did window shopping. Been playing video games and trying to do anything to distract. Been looking up bariatric recipes and stuff to try to get in the mindset of "in four-six weeks, I can eat this kind of stuff" to give me something to look forward to. So whatever normally can distract you... I know it isn't much right now to combat the jitters, but just know you can do this. It will be a good chance for you. It will help. You've got this. ❤️

    First Six Months

So I just saw my surgeon today to talk about things before surgery (which is MONDAYYYYY), and I had a few questions for you guys based off what he told me. Has anyone's surgeon recommended following two shakes and a protein for six months straight (once you can eat food)? He said because I have so much weight I need to lose (157lbs), that the best way is to knock out as much as I can in the first six months, and that it's "guaranteed" to help me drop at least 100lbs. Even to me, that seems a little extreme, but I wanted to see if anyone else had the same experience or is actively doing so? Thank you!

    First Six Months

Makes us surgery buddies. I think he wanted me to do this because I have so much weight to lose compared to some patients. It makes sense, just makes me sad that it'll take me a little longer to get to real food more often, but I'm in this for the long haul, so I can do it. ❤️

That's cool that you only have to do a week. Keep it up! The first four days are the hardest by far, so if you're getting through those, you'll breeze through the rest. Good luck!

Deep breaths. Take photos of yourself to look back on when you're successful, and bring a journal so you can freak out in there and keep going. Anxiety is not fun to deal with, but you've got this.

    January 2020 Surgery Date

I have been, but tonight, I'm wired lol. I'm going to do my best to get as much sleep as possible. I want to be rested and feel well. Good luck to all my January-friends! So excited!

OMGosh... my surgery is in five days... going into Vegas tomorrow to stay at a hotel and Friday is my appointment for my stress test and stuff... then Monday... *vibrates happily* I'm so scared/happy! ❤️
  14. So I'm noticing (and I haven't had a period in like... three years, so I doubt/don't know if that may be the cause of it) that I'm experiencing a lot of really hard emotions right now. I've been getting angry at everything and crying at the drop of a hat. Has anyone else dealt with this? I've got like... six days left before surgery. I'm not nervous about it (not that I'm aware of), but somethings gotta be going on, right?

    January 2020 Surgery Date

I am having vitamin water zero once a day to give myself something other than protein shake. My diet lets me have a small meal at the end of the day (but I have to do this for two solid weeks), so I am a little luckier than most. There are some days that it was hard for me to get both shakes in just because I'm so tired of artificial sweeteners. I *do* have sugar free jello for the post op, though. I also got protein bone broth powder for actual like... soup. It's bone broth broth (lol) with 10 grams of protein, but that's for after surgery since I'm limited to the two shakes and meal and 64oz minimum water.

I take naps when I can, and I try to start my first "meal" as late into the day as possible. It's way easier to be hungry in the morning than it is at night. I will wake up at 9 and drink my first shake at noon, then 4, etc. You got this.
  17. That is a *fantastic* idea for the protein pops. Does the powder make them thicker or are they just like regular popsicles?

    Buddy, where art thou!

Congratulations! You sound like you're just ready to get this done (like I am). That's also a wonderful partner, sounds like. I've been seeing that the people on this forum are super supportive and friendly, and having outside help like that too makes it doubly so. You got this!
  19. So, I need a little help. I have found that the whey protein isolate powder (supposedly lactose free) has just enough lactose in it to make me sick. I was able to find bone broth protein powder (I'm using Ancient Nutrition), which has been okay, but was wondering if anyone has anything else they used that tasted good/okay? I'm 8 days into my pre-surgery diet of 15. The vegetable/pea protein ones tasted too funky to me, too. It's hard to be picky, but I can't help what my stomach doesn't want right now.

    Pre-Surgery Lactose Intolerant

Wonderful. I'll take a look at some of those later today. The Topbit one that CheerfulLoser mentioned sounds cool cuz of the probiotics!

    January 2020 Surgery Date

I did "food funerals." I had the foods once more before my surgery and it was able to make it easier for me to transition. I've also been on the search for bariatric friendly recipes so that way, post op, I might be able to have a healthier version of said delicious food, but in a healthy, not gonna make me extra sick way, hopefully. *fingers crossed*
  22. I got appetizer plates and bowls for when I'm eating foods again. The smaller size will help with some of the mind games my brain may try to pull. I also got a four times a day pill sorter, but each day comes out. That way, I can make sure I have my vitamins with me and take them when I'm supposed to. Maybe a journal so you can document? Take photos and write down how great you are doing so when you're doing a little less great, you can remind yourself that you can do it.

    January 2020 Surgery Date

Hello. My surgery date will be on January 6, 2020. I started my pre-surgery diet a day early (whoopsie), so I'm on day 8/15 for that. I'll be having the sleeve done in Vegas.
