  1. Ok- Fiance is a vegetarian so I've been privy to almost all of the varieties on the market. -Gardenburger makes a mushroom burger that is AWESOME -Morningstar Farms "bacon" is really good, especially with a little sugar free honey -Fiance lives on Morningstar Farms Spicy Chik patties -Also prefer the Morningstar Farms "burgers" to the Boca brand  Kristin
  2. If I'm really busy I can stomach a South Beach Diet chocolate Protein Breakfast bar. Just remember any bar with over 12 g of sugar is nothing more than a glorified candy bar! Kristin
  3. OHH OOH! I know the feeling! When I lived in East Texas when we said we were going out for fish, we went to the dirty little restaurant by the lake for fried catfish and hushpuppies!! LOL, God I miss that! But then I moved to San Antonio, and everyone down here is big on Salmon and Talapia. So I finally tried cooking Salmon. The easy way I found was buy the preseasoned one in the meat section at Target or the frozen Salmon filets they have in a box with like the box steaks. -You put it on a pan in the broiler for like 6 min on each side and you're done! It is very yummy and tender. Kristin
  4. Plunder Bunny- I love it! Bandsters now have their own urban legend. lol Anywhoo, I live in San Antonio and Mexican food is a staple. I usually get chicken fajitas and eat it with a corn tortilla, a little salsa and a little guacamole! Kristin
  5. OOhh that sounds yummy! Would you mind sharing that recipe?? Kristin
  6. Thanks for the info! I just order the jerky and the AchievOne. I also ordered a trial of those little tube protein shots. Has anyone else tried those? Kristin
  7. I'm a side sleeper too. After 3 days of sleeping flat in a recliner I couldn't take it anymore. I moved back to my bed, pushed a body pillow under my right side (because my incisions are on my left and I didn't want to pull on them) and slept on my right side. It's actually been so comfortable, I'm 6 weeks out and that's how I'm still sleeping even though my pain is competely gone! Kristin
  8. Dr. Rincon at the Wish Center here in San Antonio. Fills are $105 in office and $205 under fluoro. He is awesome. Here's the website www.wishcenter.org  Kristin
  9. Mine was 6 weeks although I too could have gotten it much sooner! Kristin
  10. Mom's an RN. They need to be allowed to dry out in order to speed up the healing process. I also had steri strips and thought that neosporin would speed up the healing, but was promptly told that all that does is keep the incision moist and keeps the incision from healing. Keeping clothes on should be enough to keep the dirt out. Kristin
  11. Honestly, I used to run a lot when I was smaller and was told by the exercise physiologist at my surgeon's office not to run at this point. He said that it was very harmful to the joints and tendons of individuals over 200 lb. He said if I really wanted to run, use an elliptical machine so that there is no impact. I'm not sure what would help the shin splints, but I thought I would pass this tidbit on. Kristin
  12. Toning is the key. More reps with less weight resistance. You need to tone muscles because it is muscle that helps burn fat. I definately wouldn't try to bench press 200 lbs with your husband, but I can use the bar alone and it's great to add to your fitness routine. I'm trying to do toning at least 3x a week. Kristin
  13. That's my highest from 2 years ago. I was 261 at surgery. But I'm sticking to South Beach type diet and am doing about 30-45 min exercise a day. Kristin
  14. Dragnowillow- I LOVE the morningstar "bacon"! My fiance is a vegetarian, and I LOVE meat... but I really like this stuff with a little sugar free honey. And if I'm in a hurry for breakfast, I grab one of the sugar free Instant Breakfast packs. Kristin
  15. I'll drink up to about 10 min or even up to a meal, then try very hard to wait at least 30 min. Sometimes I need a little sit to rinse my mouth though, but that's pretty much it. I know that there are some that wait like 2 hours after and like an hour before but it's too hard for me to get all my Water in if I try to do that. Kristin
  16. Yes, that is true- some people never need a fill. But from the board, it seems like those people are in the minority. It all depends upon your body. If you are hungry and need to eat more than about 1 c of food, you will probably want a fill. Everyone is very different. I got my first fill this week and it's made a world of difference. Hope that helps! Kristin
  17. Congrats DianeChef! It is a great accomplishment to get those responses from your family. At least for me, my family is the last to notice, except for my fiance. COUNT me in on the May Challenge! I gotta get off the sugar and flour myself. Did pretty good today, except ate 1/2 cupcake for a friend's birthday. Kristin
  18. Just FYI, I'm checking the message board, waiting for 5:15 to come so I can leave for my Jazzercize class. Kristin
  19. JenWillwin-You should be very happy that you are still getting full on liquids. It probably is still from swelling, but at about day 10 I was starving to death! Thank God I was already at mushies. I lost 16 lbs before my first fill, but as others have said on the board, most doctors don't expect you to lose weight between surgery and your first fill. Just be happy that the scale moves, that's my motto! Kristin
  20. I think the message board is merely another distraction. A supplement for something else we would do anyway. If there was no Internet, I wouldn't consciencely choose to exercise. I would choose to sit and watch tv, or sit and read a book. The problem is not the computer/Internet/message boards/TV, etc. the problem lies within our choice to allow those things to take our time rather than exercise and eating healthy. I know fat people without computers. You cannot blame one thing on the other, it's all about free will. Kristin
  21. Diane, These pics show your weight loss is much more dramatic than what you can see from your family Easter photos. You really should be very proud of your success. I love that you are realistic about enjoying the things you love, like chocolate. If we didn't love stuff that was bad for us, we wouldn't need WLS surgery to begin with. You've found a way to satisfy those cravings, while still achieving your weight loss goals. You should be proud of yourself. That's what it's all about, making choices that allow us to live with the band forever. Congratulations!! Kristin
  22. It's hard being stuck in the middle of the clothing sizes. You might try a 16W, they are usually cut a little better for still plus size figure, but smaller. The last time I got that small, I couldn't bring myself to go to the "regular" ladies department just because the "women's" department just felt more comfortable, more safe. I know that's related to the whole body image thing and fear of failure. But anywhoo... And I wish I had been to see my therapist again, but nope, I go on Wednesday afternoons. Hope you're all having a great weekend! Kristin
  23. I know. It kinda makes me mad that they are keeping people like that on. I mean they claim that they want to prove that the selection process is crap, but yet they keep people that are bad on the show and in the mean time make it harder for those people that do care to win. Some of these people have given up a lot to be there, ya know? JMHO. Kristin
  24. I've lived on the unjury unflavored when I am on Clear liquids. If you add it to broth, you really can't taste it. ;)Kristin
  25. Pink Mary, all you'll need to post is: 1: Highest Weight 2: Surgery Weight 3: Joining Weight 4: Goal Weight 5: Current Weight When you post it looks something like this: H 298/ S 264/ J 251/ G 140/ C 245 WELCOME!! Kristin
