  1. I won't ever complain about waiting 3 to 6 months. In USA, we have it easy. Sent from my SM-T580 using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. Only idea I have is to buy several mixes and take dosage of each. Vitamin A D E K together is commonly available even in bariactric formulas Vitamin C alone very common You can get each Vitamin B separate to avoid Folic Acid Avoid Vitamin B Complex as all have Folic Acid. I would check with your bariatric center to figure out necessary mineral supplements.
  3. Be sure and check all carb intake, not just sugar itself. There is sugar in milk and milk products. There are carbs in bread, pasta, legumes, and grains. So you may be eating too many carbs without knowing it. Fasting Blood sugar below 100 is NORMAL. Why would they give you insulin producing drugs when blood sugar is normal? My PCP he would give metaformin when my A1C reached 6.5% or fasting blood sugar at 126. They don't give drugs in pre-diabetes. As we know, diabetes is a condition of insulin resistance. So giving drug to produce more insulin when still pre-diabetic willl make it worse. Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. Garden of Life Sport Certified Grass Fed Clean whey isolate, has no Sucralose. Just Stevia. https://smile.amazon.com/Garden-Life-Certified-Protein-Isolate/dp/B01NAEHLFO/ref=sr_1_101?keywords=protein+powder&qid=1583950538&sr=8-101
  5. My scientist sister says estrogen is stored in fat of females. During weight loss this estrogen can be released causing unexpected hormone issues. Any of you experience 5his after WLS? Sent from my SM-T580 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Psych Evaluation

My bariatric center has a list of 7 psychologists they "approve" for psych eval. You must use one on the list. I had to do 540+ questions on MMPI-2 plus interview. Sent from my SM-T580 using BariatricPal mobile app
  7. My GI doctor said if used often, this tea dyes your GI system dark BLACK. She's done a number of EGD and colonoscopy where she could not see anything but black tissue. I don't know how long it takes for the tissue to return to normal color. I used this once and had cramping and diarrhea in the morning for over an hour. Probably not for me. 8. NP at bariatric center said a lot of patients find this laxative "Slow Tea" effective. I have tried, psyllium fiber, MiraLax and stool softeners. Fiber produces large, bulky, hard-to-pass stool. Nothing helps. My constipation is due to medications I take. Sent from my SM-T580 using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. Had my EGD today. One of the nurses taking care of me said she had gastric bypass 10 years ago. She looked awesome. It was great to see someone with long-term success. Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  10. I had required Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) this week. The test is supposed to determine whether my breathing is limited by abdominal fat preventing full expansion of lungs. I have Obstructive Sleep Apnea on BiPAP for 23 years with excess fat around neck and in throat. During PFT I had trouble inhaling and exhaling quickly because obstruction in throat. My Arterial Blood Gas was totally normal so I am obviously able to breathe to meet my needs at rest. But I have restriction of my lung capacity by belly fat. I am only 5 foot 1 inch tall and female so lungs are smaller as well. My BMI is 44 but my weight was 240 pounds (now 220) so I don't weigh 500 pounds. This all explains why I have such a hard time breathing during exertion. Get short of breath with mild walking so exercising has always been difficult. I just cannot move enough air with my lungs during exercise. Hoping weight loss will greatly improve this so I can exercise. Was so relieved that there was a anatomic reason for my inability to exercise. Was so sick of people saying I just needed to exercise to lose weight. In reality, I need to lose weight so I can exercise. Some people (even doctors) just don't understand. End of rant. Sent from my SM-T580 using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. Bariatric vitamins are not regulated by FDA either, So who knows if you"re just getting an expensive version of a deficient vitamin. Don't know if any companies making bariactric vitamins are voluntarily testing their products. I never bought fast food or ate out so difference in food budget so my food budget won't change. I have been eating low carb, whole food (no processed foods) so my diet will be very much the same, So vitamins and calcium will be extra expense for me. 12. What does it cost you monthly for vitamins and calcium? I will be taking B12, multivitamin and calcium citrate with D3. Bariactric vitamins are expensive but I will be able to take Woman's CENTRUM chewable. Calcium chews look like at least $50 per month if need 500mg three per day. I can eventually take CITACEL 1200mg slow release but not until I can swallow that large a pill. Sent from my SM-T580 using BariatricPal mobile app
  13. I have been warned not to buy large quantities of vitamins at once as they can become outdated. Especially 2 for 1 sales. Double check for expiration dates. Old vitamins lose potency. Also, since FDA does not regulate vitamins, only buy trusted company brands. I was thinking of early postop when can't swallow pills. I am single so have always shopped to just feed myself. My food budget right now (protein shakes and fresh veggies) exceeds what I paid previously. Sent from my SM-T580 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Coke

She is not "healthy" if needed WLS. Obesity is major health problem. She sounds like typical minimizer. I am healthy and I am not addicted. Cocaine can cause death if electrolytes get out of whack, especially potassium. Messing with cocaine immediately following WLS is huge danger if not able to stay hydrated. In particular, heart rhythm problems.

    Incontinence issues

Ok, I haven't had surgery yet but drink about 80 ounces of water a day because high protein diet (I don't want kidney stone). Because my big belly, I have pressure on bladder like pg women. Also, my age over 65. Does this get better after weight loss? Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Saggy skin

I just started resistance training with 3 lb barbells. Strengthening your arms will help fill in upper arms some. You won't bulk up like weight lifter. Some great YouTube videos on upper arm strength training. Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Fitness trackers

My experience with both Samsung Gearfit and Fitbit has been negative. Anything on your wrist measures all arm movement. One day all I did IS 2 loads of laundry and folded/put away and I recorded 10,000+ steps. A truck driver friend gets 15,000 "steps" by turning steering wheel and shifting. I think an old-fashion pedometer might be better or an app that actually measures distance via GPS. Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

It rains a lot where I live (2-3 days a week). I need ideas for exercise that does not require gym membership or purchasing home equipment. Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Need No gym options

No equipment like PELETON, treadmill, etc. I have total knee replacement and arthritis in ankles. Also have severe sciatica/low back pain. I don't have cable but do have Roku streaming device. Not interested in paying $10-15 a month. I can get gym membership for that. Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app
