drzrx reacted to gully90 in Pregnancy After Sleeve & Sleeve After Delivery
Hey everyone!! I had the sleeve done in June of 2018. I lost almost 60 lbs. My start weight at point of surgery was approx. 200 and I got down to 143 within 4 months after surgery. I then got pregnant and successfully delivered my baby boy on August 1, 2019. On day of delivery I weighed 174. Since delivery I’m down to 147 and it hasn’t been a month yet. The sleeve worked during pregnancy and even now. I monitored my weight and continued to eat good while pregnant. But mostly I’m never hungry.

I said all this to say that it is possible to be pregnant within the first year of getting the sleeve surgery and maintain your weight. Just monitor everything and remember to be as healthy as you can!

Below are pictures of before pregnancy at 143, me at 9 months and me today at 147!!!

FYI: I had a csection so I’m sure I still have inflammation.

My Dr said that because of the malabsorptive effects of the surgery oral birth control won't work as well. However, you should be able to look at other forms like IUD or implants...

drzrx reacted to SabP in Protein shakes besides Bariatric advantage that you like?
Evolve, chocolate. Also, almond butter powder. (I'm allergic to peanuts, soy, eggs & dairy. Fake sugar upsets my stomach & gives me migraines.)
Greens detox pwdr, the Dr was very pleased with me having these. It made the surgery so much easier. (I had Liver detox pills also, which he liked. I started on them about 2 months prior.
I get Protein Water for my mom who is Diabetic.
And Bai for the antioxidants, cuz I can't stand most gatorade. I also get infused water.
Protein crisps for my mom and me when I am up to that level.
The Maca Up is best in something like mashed potatoes. It is a little texturey in shakes.< br>The unflavored Organic Protein, I put in Soups and mashed potatoes with plenty of broth pwdr or other seasoning. It has a very light vanilla-ish taste. But is easily seasoned over.
You know, I'll just put pics. Also, I get everything I can on subscribe and save at Amazon.com.
    Hope this helps.[emoji4]

I’m a RN as well and visitation hours are a thing of the past. It’s outdated and just raises red flag that support person isn’t allowed.
I was also informed that some patient rooms are semi-private. This is a red flag to me.
I asked what the RN to patient ratio was and I did not get an answer. Do you know from your experience?
Are there doctors in clinic at night?
Should a patient code what is the response team composed of?
If patient needs ICU care is that care provided in facility or is patient transferred? If transferred to what hospital?
0700 discharge day 1 post-op; did physician round and do head to toe exam?
Do you mind sharing info? Thank you!!

I'm in no position to give advice because I am currently losing and I'm also a newly sleeve patient. I can tell you that I've spent a good amount of time on this forum and I've learned a few things from the vets:
food logging is vital! I've noticed that the ones who maintain years out are still logging their food. They're able to see what they are doing wrong if there's a gain and catch it quick. Basically they have more control of their weight. I've already accepted the fact that Ill most likely be tracking for many, many, many, years lol. Keeping up with your appointments is just as important. I've read that a lot of maintainers see their surgeon once or twice a year just to check in. What @FluffyChix and @catwoman7 said! I see a lot of maintainers weigh their food still and eat as if they are still losing (protein, veggies, fruit/good carbs in that order) Lots of maintainers weigh themselves on the same day every week. I've also read that some even weigh themselves everyday so that they can control any spikes in weight gain. Maintainers are doing some kind of physical activity every week or more. Once again I am in NO POSITION to give you advice so please don't take it that way. These are just my observations from reading this forum. I'm hoping to observe and learn more so that I can be just as successful as them at keeping the weight off. Obesity is a disease and it should be treated as such, constant thought and action for the rest of our lives.
