Are able to go to the gym yet or are they still closed due to covid? If you are able to, I would recommend a couple of sessions with a personal trainer so as they can set a program for you and make sure your form is good.

Otherwise is bootcamp a thing where you are? Bootcamp is something that can be modified to all levels of fitness and experience.

I tried CrossFit and my body was letting me know it was a nope.. I started having an odd pain in the center of my stomach (I wasn't doing crunches ) and so I figured okay maybe I need to start out smaller.. I think there's a bootcamp fitness near by, haven't checked it out yet though. I'll look into it if it has different levels for sure! Thank you !

  2. I was sleeved 11/15/19, so I'll be 7 months post-op soon.. ive had a longer recovery road than normal but recently felt I may be time to get into fitness...I tried CrossFit and my body definitely let me know "hey this is too much"...I almost feel like I failed simply because I wasn't able to push myself but had to listen to my body. Also wasn't aware of how intense CrossFit was. Anyways, any pointers of how to begin exercise without injuring myself? I know I'll need to ease into it for sure..

Try not to worry, the only thing right now will be to have the endoscopy to find out if you have stricture or ulcers causing nausea and vomiting. I’m a little over a year out now. I’ve been where you are, I had stricture and ulcers at the stoma which is the connection between the pouch and intestine that is too small. They do a balloon dilation to make it easier for food to pass. I had it twice. It’s Ok to take things slow and give your body time to adjust to the changes.

i Can’t say it’s fully resolved but I’m getting more foods now. Though I will always keep to a low carb lifestyle. And be careful of food allergies. I need to have a enteroscopy myself. I deal with nausea a lot. But then I also have chronic illness.

I hope your appointment with the surgeon goes well and that you get the answers that you need.

Hi, thank you for commenting . Going through this is rough. Ive learned I'm definitely one of very few, that has experienced any of the difficulties I've encountered since day of. I went to my primary care physician today and they did blood work to check everything they possibly can. The nausea daily, and/or vomiting, has made me depressed. So I'm hoping and praying they can figure out what's going on. I'm sorry you're still dealing with the nausea! Its awful! Thank you again for your kind words!

In what way does food make you sick? Stomach ache? Cramps? Being nauseous? And in what amounts?

food makes me nauseous. I thought it might have been something I was eating so I drastically changed my diet to zero carbs and zero sugars etc etc. And I'm still getting sick. I'll just feel extremely nauseous, or just get the edge to throw up.

  5. I'm 6 months post-op. I'm miserable and depressed, because I've been nauseous or throw up at least once every couple days. I don't have sugar in my diet, or carbs, and I take my Vitamins daily , I drink water.. I had to start drinking Protein Shakes again because I'm not hungry for actual food, and yet I'm still sick 98% of the time... I have an appointment with my surgeon next week but they've done blood work twice and it was normal ... This isn't normal and I'm miserable. I cut out everything I thought was making me sick.. and yet I'm still getting sick.. am the only one ?!?! Ugh

Try an electrolyte drink like Gatorade zero or hydralyte

Thank you ! I will get those. I honestly didnt think about the whole dehydration thing.. but considering I had 85% of my stomach removed and can't absorb much , it should've been a thought in my head 🤦🤦🤦

  7. I was sleeved in November 2019. And I try to get fluids in but plain Water makes me sick, so I add flavor and that'll usually last about one bottle of water before I start feeling sick on water again.. and I know that being dehydrated can cause many issues and one of them being nauseous because the body is lacking electrolytes. So I wasn't sure if that could be causing it and maybe my body just isn't absorbing much... Idk but I'm miserable

  8. Stop the chicken - Seems this little bird causes problems. My view is to switch up your diet. For example go 3 days just seafood, shrimp crab soft fish. See how you do then/ Then do 3 days of just pork - shredded chunked ribs. then 3 days of beef , Chili, steak, tacos/
I am sleeved also and certain foods cause issues. It took me time to get my body used to certain foods. ALSO no sauces oils and limited seasonings.
You will get it but you have to learn the type of foods you can handle, the speed you eat, and do not mix liquids and solids till you get the trick to it

Thank you so much ! I'm glad you posted this because i haven't though about trying those foods. I'm actually going to get that stuff and try it out! I really appreciate it !

  9. Yep, I get it. I understand a lot of people believe it is either sugar, fat or carbs,,,,,,but my body does it with lots of things, and I get the exact symptoms catwoman7 mentioned above......plus severe cramps and it all happens within 10-20 minutes of eating. I've been having better days recently, I am 11 weeks out today. I get it with food I have eaten before and have been okay with. I have been told I just have to ride it out......other than low potassium and continual dehydration my surgery/insides are perfect! You are certainly not alone! Loz [emoji4]
So glad I'm not alone ! Yes! My body will do it with almost everything . And it's not an everyday thing either. Some days I am super sick from anything I eat.. and other days I feel fine and it doesn't happen. And my Dr doesn't know what it could be.

  10. true dumping syndrome is pretty rare in sleevers - it happens when too much sugar hits your small intestine at one time. It's more rare in sleevers because you guys still have an intact pyloric valve. Only about 30% of RNY'ers dump - I don't know about the percentage of sleevers, but it's very low. Dumping can be controlled by limiting or avoiding sugar.
I'm not a dumper, but I know people who do have it experience severe diarrhea, sweating, flushing, and rapid heartbeat. I know it can go on for a long time.
if you're just vomiting, there may be something else going on. Are you eating too fast? Does everything make you vomit, or are there certain food triggers? I'm guessing that's why the nurse is having you track everything that makes you vomit, so they can see if there's some sort of pattern there. If not, I wonder if there's something like a stricture (those are a lot more common in RNY'ers, though). Otherwise, boy - I don't know. I hope they'll be able to figure it out - you must be miserable!
The only time I don't have the whole 'body kicking it out' type thing, is when I eat grilled chicken. My surgeons nurse took blood multiple times and nothing came up unusual and said my symptoms were dumping syndrome. Although, in self research, I found I had the same symptoms as reactive hypoglycemia. I've had either extremely rare difficulties, even since I had surgery in the hospital, or I've had unheard of symptoms that no one can pinpoint with a sleever. It's awful and I feel lost to be honest.

  11. From what Ive heard, it's rather unusual for sleeve peeps but not unheard of. For us RNY it's par for course. Ive got a pouch if steel and still manage to dump. It is not the most pleasant thing in the world, and when it happens after some cafeteria lunch at work, I absolutely hate it.
I've been one of the very lucky ones that have been sleeved, to experience a lot of stuff that others have not after being sleeved ! My surgeons nurse has done blood work a couple times and everything is normal. I explained my symptoms and she believed it was dumping syndrome as well. Right after surgery I was kept for 3 days and had horrible muscle cramps that morphine didn't even touch. So I've literally been the lucky one to experience everything others have not [emoji30]

  12. (sleeved 11/15/2019) TMI I know ... But does anyone have dumping syndrome with anything they eat ?! Anything I eat, my body is like NOPE and dumping happens.. I eat only certain foods because most things make me nauseous so I'm only eating like grilled chicken and some veggies (ones I can handle ) and my body still dumps everything... I've told my surgeon and the nurse said to just keep track of what I eat. I have. And I do. They also don't know why a lot of foods make me extremely sick.. anyone else have this issue ?! [emoji30]

  13. I don’t really have any secret. I don’t really exercise very much... bad I know... but my caloric intake is still so low my body can’t handle it very well. I push myself to get to 500 calories. I have a TON of restriction. I know I won’t forever, so I’m just capitalizing on the time I have of rapid loss. It’s definitely starting to slow down now though.
Still great though ! Proud of you ! I took so much longer to recover.i was sleeved 11/15/19 and I'm down 43 pounds. It's been slow . But your loss is amazing ! Congrats on the sleeve!! [emoji126]

  14. Have you taken any comparison photos? They are great for highlighting changes that we can't see in the mirror.
Are you still losing weight or have you been on a bit of a stall?

I haven't taken comparison photos. I tend to steer clear of that just because I'm still working on self image etc. But I know I lost weight (when I didn't think I did) because I had my Drs appointments in the last couple weeks and I was told my weight was down from before surgery weigh in. So that was an exciting thing to hear. I'm not sure if I've lost still but I'm active. But even the weight I lost, my clothes(ones I wore before surgery) aren't loose or seem to be loosening up.. so it's very confusing and discouraging.
