  1. I am having tomato, broccoli cheese, even the liquid part of the seafood bisque I made. Soooo good!! Ready to have some texture tho lol
  2. @nenes78 I feel if I take anymore time off I’m gonna lose my mind lol. I know it will be exhausting at first but sitting around at home isn’t improving anything. I do know my job will work for me if it’s too bad. I am already going stir crazy lol
  3. @eporter I hope you’re doing better. I feel a significant change for the better each day. Walking helped me pass most of the gas. I don’t feel I have much of any anymore. I was told to take miralax within a couple days for a BM. But my protein had the fiber I needed. Took me a few days though. Hope you’re feeling better today!!
  4. I’m 6 days post op and I do get up and down throughout the night. The first couple I tried getting up and walking. I’m not in any pain, really just have night sweats which is strange. Hope you feel better. Ive been in a regular bed which I feel is better than the hospital and all the tubes

Really need some help with protein

I use a vegan/non-whey protein, there’s a cinnamon roll, chocolate and a vanilla one with Arbonne. I LOVE IT!! I mix it with almond milk and ice. I am 5 days post-op and it’s a life-saver for me
  6. It's to shrink the liver before surgery. The liver is above the stomach when the doctor goes in and it is known to make the liver smaller to prevent injury.

    Bariatric team approval?

I would definitely be bugging them. It's the end of the year. Some people have insurance to think about. I know with me I wanted it done before January because I've already reached my deductible. I would be pushing them for sure.

    Bariatric team approval?

Oh wow, yeah, that's a long time to wait. I had to do all my requirements in one day (psych eval, meet with a dietician, meet with the doctor, they weighed me and since my BMI was at 40 they said surgery would most likely be approved).. and they submitted to the insurance the next day. That was my one and only doctors appointment I needed to be approved. I feel some doctors have a more lengthy process and I'm not sure why.
  9. So I am seeing a lot of people who still have to meet longer term requirements to get approved for surgery than I did. I was told by my primary care doctor he did not have to give an approval..Go straight to the gastric dr. They had me do a psych eval that day and they sent in my BMI with that to insurance, BCBS of ND and I was approved in a week. I have a friend who wants surgery and I told him my experience..but he isn't having such luck. It's crazy how things change state to state and the insurance requirements.
  10. @al0vely Oh that's so great!! I'm happy for you. I wish I could do the same but I am exceeding my PTO going this route. Thankfully I have some extra savings of it does take longer, but it is minimal. I do know my company will work with me and I have less than a week before Christmas so I'll have that break. So how has your recovery been? I am very interested in the first few days post-op
  11. @Raebae yeah, I figured things just changed nationwide and tried helping my friend out and even my sister out with their surgery. I see I am very lucky.

    December 2019 Sleeves

@JediMom at this point I'm just excited. I have no doubt that will change. My surgery is 12/12 and I do tend to think little about big changes until the last minute lol. I'm sure that's totally normal. What are your biggest concerns?

    December 2019 Sleeves

@JB1 That's some serious motivation getting surgery on 12/23!! That's how I feel with mine on 12/12 and starting my diet on Thanksgiving day... A new start needs to happen any time, any day. I'm ready!
  14. I agree. I've had surgery before and was up and walking asap. I feel if you put mind over matter it will be easier to return to work faster. Being tough and making it through is the goal 💪
  15. I am scheduled for 12/12 😄 Sooo excited. I was suppose to have it on 11/14, but my bloodwork showed my thyroid levels 1 point too high for the surgeon to approve. I feel that's under control now so hopefully no more bumps in the road!!
  16. @Machalo I use a young living oil called Digize. I put a couple drops under my tongue. Works great for nausea and acid reflex!! I as well have cut out a ton of toxic foods from my diet. I started several months ago with the elimination diet and started eating more whole foods. I have surgery scheduled for 12/12 so I feel like i'm on a pretty good path.
  17. I have surgery planned on 12/12 and I put in to have off work until 12/18 so 6 days, but I guess it depends on complications. I feel this will be enough time. I work a desk job and will just have to be mindful of getting up and walking.

    December 2019 Sleeves

I am now scheduled for the sleeve on 12/12!! I had an original date of 11/14, but the doctor didn't like my thyroid level being so high..so my meds were adjusted and they rescheduled. I should be good to go this time. It's nice to have this forum to read people's experiences and to get prepared. I'm super excited. No nerves quite yet.
