  1. Well it's been a great chatting with everyone. I appreciate all the answers I've received on here. I decided a couple of days ago that I personally think that I have nothing to offer anyone on this site or any other site so I decided my time was limited on here. I figured that I would wait till after my first follow up appointment, announce what happened in the office visit and the tell everyone goodbye. So goodbye y'all. I wish everyone gets to the weight goals that your shooting for. Adios.

Anyone else LOVING the tension building here between Steve and Mikey? I am proposing a steel cage match for them to settle their differences.

But in more serious matter 6oz of Chili at 3 weeks sounds like a ton of food. That's roughly what I have now at 9 months and would be quite filling.

I wasn't trying to be argumentative I was just trying to say what is working for my surgeon and I. I don't want to drop weight to fast and make my immune system drop with it. When I was in the Navy bootcamp I lost weight so fast I was getting sick constantly. I rather loose a little slower. I'm not planning on increasing the oz of food from where I currently am now. As I said; everyone is different and has different goals.

If you get the right amount thru food you are correct, However i have issues eating so no way i could get my intake in food, - It really is a open wide subject and all of us are different, for me i am extremely active a so i need the fuel and supplements and Vitamins and vodka keep me going - I feel down and draggy if i do not stay on the supplements and Vitamins - however my brother is fine with just one multi day Vitamin A day

As long as buying all the different vitamins isn't breaking the bank and your labs are good then what the hell keep up what works. As I said I'm not a professional. Hope you and everyone else a good day or night.

Still need to keep an eye on calories and Protein and fat and carbs...

Protein is first. Can't stand olives or Olive oils, so I use canola oil minimally in spray form. I do use some butter substitute for flavor from time to time, but never have been a butter nut like my wife. If she could, butter would be slathered on everything. As far as carbs go, vegetables I'll eat after Proteins if room allows. Only other carbs come from oatmeal 1 to 2 times a week. I don't eat breads, pastas, rice (except once had a taste of brown rice 1/4 teaspoon to see if my pouch could handle it). No processed carbs in other words. I'm already lighter than when I married my wife just about 20 years ago. My surgeon said I'm doing great, I feel great as well. Hope everyone is doing great on here!

And personally I prefer the restriction

I'll be 3 months out in a week and I'm still only eating max 3oz tuna at a time or a few slices of ham or 4oz yoghurt; there are still things that come back up...

I'm in no hurry to eat big portions; the whole idea of surgery is to limit your portions.

So I say you've got a double edged sword mate.

Hopefully your weight loss doesn't get affected from all your intake...

    Also Jerky is very salty...

I personally wasn't loosing weight till I took my calories from 600 to 800 calories a day then finally the scale started sliding down. As far as salty, I make my own smoked beef Jerky so the salt content is minimal compared to store bought jerky. I still have a lot of muscle mass under my fat layer, it needs to be fed also so I can keep it. I dropped 57lbs or so before surgery. So what I'm doing is working for me and my surgeon. Everyone is different.

I look at the labels on all the foods I eat. There's a website called fatSecrets.com that I use to figure the items content that don't have labels like vegetables and fruits. I hope fatSecrets can help others on here. I don't know why I never put it's website on here before now. First thing I get in is Proteins, vegetables, then fruits if any room exist. One to two times a week I'll have a 6oz bowl of oatmeal with a some stevia and cinnamon in it for Breakfast. And I just add a meal of just proteins to offset.

Great news, Steve! I am 8 weeks out and will t even try dehydrated anything at this point. I tolerated most everything with my sleeve but rny is a whole other ballgame. I am just now starting to tolerate meat.

I figured that I won't know what I can handle unless I try it. I figured my surgeon wouldn't like the smoked beef Jerky that I had been using as a snack. He just kept looking like I can't believe I never regurgitated once since surgery and I can advance in my stages so easy. He just smiled and said he wishes he could bottle my success and prescribe it to all his patients. Made me feel better knowing that I wasn't going to get an a$$ chewing from my surgeon.

I think your surgeon removed your organic stomach and put a cast Iron pouch in its place! I'm two months out and just started eating artificial meat a week ago...glad to hear you are doing well! The weight is falling off of you!

I am still ok from the chili earlier nothing except for a couple of good farts already. So I'm going to eat another few ounces of the chili around 4:00 CST.

  9. Well Betty is still a good woman but she changed her mind and made some chili for the first time since before my surgery. I had to add some more chili powder and some minced garlic to mine but it was very good. I stopped eating 6oz of chili around 20 minutes ago and so far no Gastric distress. Super happy with my results so far. I hope everyone heals up with no problems and finds some new and old healthy meals that makes them happy.

I have a sleeve and this is my prescribed regimen. Now that I eat a balanced diet and am 15 months out, this seems excessive and like the One A Day Women’s Vitamin should be enough. I'm going to ask about it.

    Morning:

    • One A Day Women’s Vitamin

    Vitamin D 2,000

    • Vitamin B12 500 mcg

    • Vitron C Iron

    • Viactive Calcium with lunch

    • Viactive Calcium with dinner

    • Viactive Calcium at Bedtime

I'm not a professional at all, but I thought you really don't have to take any Vitamins or supplements with the sleeve. I also was reading that today on a poster in my surgeons office while waiting for the surgeon to come in. The chart on the poster was from 2012 so things might of changed since then.

    Definitely overkill-!!

    I take my B12 1000mcg once a day

    Calcium 500mcg +vitD 1000mcg 2x a day

    Multivitamin 2x a day

That's all I've been told by my Dr.

I agree with Superman. I personally was told today to keep taking my B12 5000 once a day at 7am. I also take three 500 calcium citrate w/ 500 Vitamin D pills and three stool softeners liquid capsules at 7am, 12pm, and at 3pm. I last take a 1 a-day BariatricPal multivitamin w/ Iron 45 chewable at 6pm and I'm done. I also take some other non related meds at 6pm.

  12. AS LONG AS IT ISN'T SUGARS, FATS OR PROCESSED CARBS. I'm cleared to eat what I want. He said he still cannot believe that at 10 days out I was able to eat 4oz of air fried salmon. He said that beef Jerky usually is hard to handle at 2 months. I have been snacking on beef jerky and peanuts since around 15 days out. I was 225 fully dressed with my jacket, knife, smartphone, change, and wallet when I was weighed. The Nurse said; there was no need to remove anything since she couldn't believe the difference since my surgery. My surgeon asked about how I'm doing with my meds, Proteins and fluids, I told him all's good. He looked at my incisions and said I'm healing really fast. So he cleared me to eat my way because it's working. I have my next appointment on February 24th.

I had postural drop after surgery every time I stood up it dropped. Once the took me off the bp meds it was a lot better

Sent from my SM-G970F using BariatricPal mobile app

So evidently this is a very common theme among Bariatric patients then. I've been off of my BP meds since the day of my fall, so I know the medicine is out of my system by now. I still feel a little woosy after getting up and starting to walk, but it's manageable. So I would like to thank everyone for their experiences with this problem. It probably makes everyone feel better that it is common and can most likely be expected. Thank you again!

Sounds like you got a concussion from the fall, which is the cause of the swelling in your brain. That was one serious fall. I would be more concerned about the hardware in your spine.

Take it easy on yourself, you are only two weeks out of surgery. Even I forget that reading your posts. The problem with your mother is pushing you hard to escape from a heavy burden and losing the weight for you is a part of that, but take it easy on yourself. Forget about her. Remind you that Your body needs to catch up with the fact that you don’t need the blood pressure meds anymore. Your body has a lot of adjustments to go through.

I just relook at my above post. It may look as if it was being nasty towards you, I didn't mean it to if you took it that way!

I had some x-rays at my doctors office. Everything still looks fine with my back. I'm not worried about my weight or my mother. I had the surgery for me. I didn't want to loose a foot or leg due to diabetes 2, and to be around long enough for my wife. She said (kidding) that till the bills are paid off I can't die! My mother can go take a leap off of a high bridge with hardened concrete around her feet. I am in a good place about my life without her messing around with my wife or my emotions. I cut the strings to the puppet master and don't plan on being restrung up anytime soon.

Same boat here Steve I am officially off all my blood meds and related stuff after two stints and 99 percent blockage of the widow maker. Made me so light headed and dizzy - Saw the heart surgeon and he immediately stopped them = All I take now is the baby asprin -

Also make sure you are hydrated, I have a extreme issue with dehydration cant seem to get that leveled in - I am lucky though my kid is Paramedic so i cheat and he pumps in a IV bag when i am really low on Water.

I am getting anywheres from 80 to120oz everyday, depends on how much sleep I get.

Awe. So sorry, Steve. Did they say if the low bp was the cause? That’s pretty scary.

The ER nurse said my blood pressure was low, and that was a good thing she said with my brain swelling. I'm feeling a lot better now with whatever they put in the IV for the swelling. I was told not to sleep for another couple of hours yet. I'm definitely ready to sleep. Thank y'all for your concerns. Be careful. My shoulder still is throbbing. Betty said I fell like tree being cut down. I evidently didn't try to brace for the fall at all. I have rods, screws, and the back of the spine removed from my lower back, so it's really a scary thought of passing out cold and falling.

Oh man Steve I am glad you didn't bash into anything on the way down.

Here is the 30 Second rule - when getting up from a chair stand for 30 seconds hanging onto something before moving. Then move slow.

When getting out of bed, sit up for thirty seconds, put feet over bed for 30 seconds, stand for 30 seconds before moving.

My surgeon told me NOT to take my lisinopril after surgery for at least a month or maybe never depending on my BP at that time. LOL I am on 1/2 of a 5mg pill and not even every day.

I am going to call my PCP and surgeon tomorrow. See what they say. But for right now I am staying off the medicine.
