  1. Thanx thats the way i feel 2! I think havin the band is the best way for me to have another baby and not worryin bout bein heavy again
  2. So i had my Preadmission testing on August 20th and that went well..the only thing that bothered me was this one doctor i saw he was very negative towards the lapband he was tellin me i should get gastric bypass done if i want to lose weight not the band...i told him i was gettin the band done because i want to have 1 more child and if i have the bypass who can gaurantee me that i will lose weight after pregnancy! I told him with the band after i have the baby they can tighten it up 6 weeks after birth and ill be on my way to weight lose again! he shook his head and sent me on my way..i went to the receptionist and asked to speak to the doctor who was doin my surgery and explained how i felt about the way this doctor spoke to me and he told me most doctors dont like doin the band because banders get frustated they arent losin enough weight which i think is ridiculous if u stick to the diet they give u then ull lose (the band is there to help with the weight lose not work against it) eventhought gastric bypass u lose weight quicker i feel if im tryin to have a kid the band is better if i wasnt tryin to get preggers then i wouldnt do the band i woulda did the bypass but thats not the case! so anyway preadmissions went good now i have to start a 10 day clear liquid diet aug 30th and i get banded sept 8th so wish me luck!!
  3. well my doctor is makin me stop 6 weeks before surgery and im already on my 2nd week...its def hard but i know its worth it to stop...best of luck to ur girlfriend she's lucky that its 2 weeks and not longer..hopefully she doesnt go back to smokin
  4. My surgeon told me i have to be smoke free for 6 weeks! Who do u have that u can quit a week or 2 before?? Im goin on a week and half without havin one sometimes im ok and others i want one so bad but i think to myself its for a good cause 1 to lose weight and 2 for my health
  5. When i got rejected by Aetna i took matters into my own hands and switched companies..I was lucky my employer reimbursed me for insurance...i went from aetna to personal choice (when u apply they dont ask u any questions bout bein overweight, smoker, anything) I got personal choice july 1st and i got approved july 10th! My surgery in Sept 8th..maybe u should think about switchin companies instead of self paying!
  6. Wow good for u!! i quit cold turkey and so far so good im gonna try not to start again!! Best of luck u
  7. Hi everyone, My Surgery is scheduled for Sept 8! I can't wait im so excited! I had to stop smoking 6 weeks before surgery so i decided to try it now(which is hard) but im one week in so im doin great! Has anyone here smoked before the band and after the band?? I would like some advice cause sometimes i think to myself are u gonna start smoking again and if so what are the risks?
  8. I just wanted to let everyone know i started my journey on June 6th which was my 1st consultation with Dr Boe. I had atena and bariatric surgery was excluded from my policy so i took matters into my own hands and switched companies. My new company Personal Choice became effective July 1st and i was suprised to get approved so quick...My surgery is scheduled for September i could of went as early as August but i have to quit smoking 6 weeks before surgery...so i just wanted to let everyone know the new me will be here soon!!!
  9. Hey Everyone, I just wanted to give an update...I swtiched insurances to personal choice from aetna. Now im waiting to get approved which should be next week! Since my insurance from employer (aetna) did not cover the lapband i decided for my health it would be better to get covered under and insurance that does! Im hopin to get approved soon and continue on with my journey for a new me! Has anyone else switched to another insurance or does anyone here have personal choice that can tell me how the process takes im very curious!!!
  10. Thanx for your reply..i applied for personal choice and got accepted my new insurance starts 7/1/08 the only thing im worried about is they have a 12 month clause the clinic im workin with said they will try there best to help me out so im hopin everything goes smooth! Hopefully my new life will begin soon. Thanx for your somment and support
  11. Hey just to let you know i have the same problem wit my aetna they wont cover my surgery so im switichin to personal choice they do there rates by age so since im 27 my rate was 162 dollars a month for insurance which is cheaper than self paying look in to personal choice the phone number is 215 557 7577 im not sure what it is out of state!
  12. So i got some bad news from my insurance company they are not coverin the surgery its excluded from my policy so i decided to switch insurances! Im switchin to personal choice ppo which is great insurance and they cover bariatric surgery which is what i want. The only thing im not sure of is how long i have to wait. There is a clause with the company stating that the company will not pay benefits during the first 12 months of the policy for any medical condition or illness for which medical advice or treatment was recommended or received within the 12 month period. So basically once i get this new insurance i can call the bariatrics clinic and let them find out if i get approved. Did anyone else have to go through this switichin insurances and everything? Let me know! -cindy:mad2:
  13. So i got some bad news from insurance company. Bariatrics is now excluded from my policy! So now i have to probably go thro a 6 month weight loss process before i can be accepted! Im definitely disappointed!
