    October Surgery Roll Call

Be excited! It’s a great step you are taking! I still look back at my surgery ( a year ago - 6 stone lost) and wish I had done it years ago! Be kind to yourself and let your body dictate the pace - follow your dietary advice to the letter after surgery and of things take longer then that’s okay. I stayed on soups and purées for AGES. It worked for me! Good luck xxxx

    October Surgery Roll Call

@ANewHooze I have lost over six stones in total- have plateaued slightly at 13stone but look pretty good at this. Honesty compels me to admit that I would loose more if I gave up the gin and tonics!! The pain after surgery was really manageable- I had my surgery in Turkey and after two days travelled to the UK. I just took my recovery at my own pace and used plenty of pain meds! Good luck! Xxxx

    October Surgery Roll Call

Hi i had my surgery 14/10/19. I have lost about 70lb so far. Feeling good and on track. Sometimes I forget and eat too fast or too much and have episodes of foamies and pain. I’m trying to stop this. Hope all of you are doing well xx

    October Surgery Roll Call

I’ve lost just over 56 since my surgery in October. I’m feeling great and am super happy about this. I’m eating most things in very small portions- still focussing on protein intake and cutting down on carb Intake. Thinking of you all- good luck for your journeys

    No Bowel Movement...

Hi i also didn’t have a bowel movement for over a week after surgery. i now use fibogel or laxido if I haven’t had one in a few days- I also take a fibre jelly each day. Like a tablet thing! i has my surgery Oct 14 and I have lost over 3.5 stones so far.
  7. Hi Don’t beat yourself up! We have all ‘messed up’ a bit - I know I have (tried chicken nuggets week 8 and puked foam for 3 hours!) Keeping to plan is hard- even with family support- my husband struggles to give me small servings when he dishes up so now I just serve myself- it’s finding things that work. I do ask when I need support- over the holidays I did have to ask for a junk food free day for the family- I didn’t want to be looking/ thinking about it. Good luck proving your family wrong- you’ve done the hard bit- the surgery- now enjoy the weight loss bit! Xx
  8. I’m currently taking half a fibogel sachet morning and night on days I don’t have a bowel movement- seems to be working great.

    Going out to eat...

My first meal out was a baked Camembert- I didn’t have much but it was fabulous!

    Partner/ spouse support

Hi I initially my husband was also very concerned with the risks. However once I clearly explained my reasoning and assured him that I wasn’t able to weight loss without surgical help he did come round. He was great once I had the surgery on Oct 24. Im so glad I had this done- do it for you x Good luck! Xx

    Over Night Stay

Lip balm and wet wipes. I used my phone a lot for google translate as I had my surgery abroad. I also bought a nice gift for the ‘Foreign Guest Liaisons ‘ person I had been communicating with.
  13. Hi All My surgery was October 14th and I’m still feeling a lot of abdominal pain. I’m using heat pads and painkillers. Hopefully it’s just a healing time thing and will get better. I think I am ok with food intake- I’m on very soft squishy foods and liquid. Hopefully you’re all doing okay too. Xx

    What...What Is This? Lol.

Hi i would just concentrate on getting well after your surgery and eat what you need to - sooner or later you will meet someone fabulous who will accept and love you as you are- strange dietary habits and all!! xx
  15. Hi if the surgeon says it could be gas then I would treat it symptomatically as gas- walk as much as you can - see if you can find a gentle partner or family member for back massages ( this really helped me- my mum said it was like burping me when I was a baby!!) I do hope you feel better soon- if the pain persists then do contact your doctor for more advice.

    Any good liquid food ideas?

I’m three weeks post op and I’m loving fat free toffee yoghurt, water melon protein drink ( it’s not milky) , home made chicken soup, carrot soup, cottage cheese ( the excitement!!) and stewed fruit!
  18. Hi i had gastric sleeve on Monday 17th. in the hospital I had lots of tests- endoscopy, ECG, pulmonary checks etc then surgery next day. The surgery was fine- when I came round I was in some pain and felt nauseous but this only lasted about an hour. The next day I was sipping water, and now, four days later I’m drinking two protein drinks of 200ml a day ( making 50g protein) and drinking 2 x 200ml of apple juice- liquid total per day needs to be about a litre. This is going really well- pain is under control and I’m feeling good! Best of luck for your surgery and recovery! Xx
  19. Hi All i have gastric sleeve surgery booked for October 14th. I live in UK but as I’m paying for my own surgery I’m having it done in Turkey. I’ve spent a lot of time researching the hospital and surgeons but I’m pretty nervous. My mum is coming as moral support. I haven’t found the pre-op diet easy - I have a busy, job that’s rather stressful and last week I had a few days where I felt weak and faint. Hopefully all will go well with the surgery- I will update you all then. It’s been great reading about other people’s experiences.
  20. Really good thanks! I had the surgery done last night 9pm and feel good today. I’ve been walking about and am drinking water and apple juice.
  21. Hope all is well - best of luck with your recovery!
