    What the Gobble...(Food gatherings)

I'm cooking the full meal but substituting low carb sides and no dessert. Well all low carb but 1 side. Hubby begged for mashed potatoes. [emoji849]

    Can't handle protein shakes

Try diluting oikos triple zero yogurt with milk and add a scoop of protein powder. Mix it and eat with a spoon like yogurt.

    Post-op 5 days

I'm almost 9 weeks post op. The surgery not only messes with your hormones but it plays head games as well. I had to take antinausea pills with my protien drinks during 2 week post op liquid phase. I know it can be difficult. Just focus on sipping and try to sip every couple of minutes, even if you have to set an alarm on your phone to remind you. It will get better. Once your out of the two week phase, you'll start to feel human again. Chin up!

    carbonated drinks?

I used to drink diet coke way more than beer and a super cold beer is the only thing I really miss in the carbonated category.

Good multivitamin ... not chalky ?

I was given the option of celebrate chewable or celebrate capsule. I prefer capsules too. And they are so much smaller than the chewable.

    3 periods in 5 weeks

Right after surgery, mine started 2 weeks early. When I asked about it, they said the surgery really screws with hormones. That was apparent when my clear complexion went away and I looked 15 again.

    so scared

Happy Birthday sweet Emma!! One day at a time. [emoji8][emoji322][emoji512]
  11. Seems counterproductive to me for a professional to want to force that much food in a small pouch that was made just 6 weeks ago to prevent overeating. (Forehead +palm)
  12. I guess we all have different Drs with different training and individually we all have different needs.
  13. That's weird. I just had my 6 week check up with blood draw and I specifically asked about calories because they never mentioned it and only focused on protein and water. I told them I eat 400-600 calories a day and they said that was great and typical for someone 6 weeks post op. I'm 8 weeks post op now and still eating same amount. Blood work returned and everything looked great with no malabsorption.

    Surgery date

My preop meal plan was drink protein shake for breakfast, one for lunch, and a sensible dinner with healthy protein choice. No snacks. I did that for 2 weeks prior to surgery. Biggest challenge was 2 weeks post op liquid diet. I have lost 32 pounds since surgery on 9/24/19. Still learning but definitely have a great understanding of what is required of me.

    Going out to eat...

Few weeks post op when I started looking. Golden Corral buffet to go. They weigh your food. It's like 3 dollars. Huge selection of Protein. Soups from Panera and Newks. Shrimp and fish from seafood places. I mostly cook at home but when I do go out i order to go. If I absolutely have to sit at a restaurant, I usually eat off my husband's plate or my bestfriends. Feels like a waste of my money to order an entire meal so I try to avoid it.

    I’m not losing weight anymore!

You mentioned appetite will return. I've seen numerous people mention this too. Is this for sleeve only or gastric bypass too?

Go back to basics. Measure your food intake. Log everything. I hope your user name isn't your email. That's bad juju.

Can we just be for real ???

I have always been husky. But I have always loved me. The day of my surgery, I cried and asked my husband "what will I become"? "Will I recognize me?" "Will you still find me attractive?" I have a great career and it has been the focus of my adult life. My knees unfortunately are giving out. It's my weight over the years that had taken a toll on them and the fact my grandmother and mother both had to have double knee replacement. I want to continue to succeed in my career and be able to retire with the financial stability that will last my lifetime. I hope I will love the new me just as much as the old me.

Help! In Terrible Need of Positive Vibes

So I have been choosing things to do with my friends that dont revolve around food. Bowling, golf, movies, meeting for a coffee. Its been difficult but if I invite them to do things preemptively without involving food, it helps me not gather around the food table. As friends, we have to learn to bond over something else other than food. If you are as important to them as they are to you then they will eagerly meet you half way. I hope everything works out for you.

    Anyone else?

Yes. I'm 7 weeks post op and I still have to drink 1 shake a day to get enough Protein in and I hate it. Loved protien shakes before surgery. Can not stand them now. I also diluted yogurt with milk and ate it. I would strain chicken broth based Soups and drink them as well which helped get me through that 2 week stage. It's just a small price to pay when starting your journey to the new you.

    Period during surgery

So funny you should mention this. I take bc pill. Two days after my surgery my period started 2 weeks early. Something about the surgery throwing my system into shock and hormones out of whack.
