I was banded 6/23/08 and usually about noon, I start getting SEARING pain around my port. Not the port incision, but the actual port. If I lay down for a few minutes, it goes away. But then, if I move just wrong! YOWSERS! It is getting better, it's just a slow process. Hope you get well soon!

I am three weeks out and have been having the same thing for about 2 days!! Any long term bandsters out there?

This is one of the most helpful posts I've ever read.
Let me put my point out of veiw out there. This surgery, has given me the amazing ability to be FULL! I've never really felt full before. It's the most bizarre emotional feeling to feel full. To be satisfied. I'm only 1 month out but for the first time in my life I am FULL! And after a small portion of food. I assumed that I was not losing weight because I associate these feelings of fullness with the few times in my life I wasn't dieting meaning, I was eating everything in sight. I was stunned to find I had lost 20lbs since surgery!!
I have head hunger, sure, BUT I'M FULL! I feel so relieved, so 'not on the prowl' for my next meal. It can feel scarry (what do I do now?) but I really do feel satisfied.

that people tend to post when they are having issues. Folks that are just having a great day are usually doing just that, out having a great day!

Is this that dude that's all over youtube who only spouts vile negativity about the band? I think it is. This guy seems to have some ax to grind, as far as the band goes. Seems strange to me that when you research it, he pops up over and over.

I started my period THE DAY OF SURGERY. Right before I went to the hospital. :w00t:It was a doozey. Cramps and abdominal pain. So fun!

You are a Junie! Hang with us! We are here for you sista! Hang and heal, baby, hang and heal. HUGS!!
I'm not sure if I should count myself in with the Jazzy Junes or not, since I had to have my band removed after 1 week due to a post op infection. What do you all think?I lost 29lbs on the pre-op diet and about 11 more post-op (mostly while I was in the hospital for 2 weeks living on ice chips and iv nutrition), so I'm down 40lb since late April.
My weight has finally stabilized the past few days, I'm down to 266, and I've only seen a variation up and down of about half a pound for nearly a week, so I think I've hit bottom until I start doing something again.
My incisions are nearly healed from the dis-banding, and I'm starting to try to get back into normal routines, so I'll jump on the treadmill starting Monday. I'm still tiring out really quickly, so I'll probably only get in a half mile or so. Eventually I'll get back to my 3 miles/day.
So what do you all think? Should I hang out here and get support until I'm well enough to get a new band? Or is having a failed bandster around a bummer and I should go find someplace else while I'm in a holding pattern? I don't want to be the "poor girl that lost her band" nor do I want to annoy or discourage anyone by posting to the group if they don't think I fit in anymore.
Always

So, my Dr. just started doing surgeries at the big, wonderful "ladies" hospital here in town. He's done hundreds, but just started at this particular hospital. So I chose to have it there. Part of the "package" was to meet with the hospital nutritionist. She gave me a binder with very specific instructions as to what I can eat. Total Clear liquids for 7 days after surgery, then straight to chicken. Seriously!
After doing some reading, I realized that this was wrong, called my doctor, and was told to do 7 days clear fluids, 7 days full fluids, and 14 days of mushies. At that point, I will have my first post-op, and we'll talk about everything.
My issue is, what is full liquids, REALLY? I don't feel like I can ask the nutritionist, because she's been missinformed. So far, I think it's cream Soups, pudding, Protein drinks, milk, but what else?
So, what have ya'll been eating? How many ounces per how many hours? When do you drink?
Bless you all!

Why does this suddenly feel like a Saturday Night Live skit?

I was banded on 6/23. I am on Clear liquids for 7 days after surgery. I was doing ok until the diarrhea kicked in. So now, Clear Liquids in, liquids out, and I am so hungry I can't describe it. I'm not complaining, just looking for others who may be in this spot. I look forward to my Flintstones Vitamin more than I can describe!
Thankfully, my hubby is home, as I don't think I would be able to fully care for my three little ones.
Blessings to all!

I am yet to be banded, but my sister has been for 3 years. I think we pin a ton of hope on surgery day, when the big stuff happens on fill day! Hang in, as of now you are really no better off than before surgery. Your "tool" has not be activated. Get ready! It's coming!

Baton Rouge, La here. I've been a stay at home mom since my oldest was born. We have three girls ages 7, 5, and 3. Happy, happy family. I am ready to run and play with the babies!
Surgery will be with Dr. Drake Bellenger. He banded my sister 3 years ago and she is down 140 pounds, plus she lost 80 on her own before the surgery. She's just awesome!
