  1. I have not, but it sounds like a great idea. Two birds, one stone. My doc won’t do lap bands anymore. He says they either don’t produce enough results or the cause too many complications and that most people end up removing them and gaining back all the weight in the long run. Either way I think something more permanent is a better solution. Good luck. I’m sure it will be great and it’s wonderful to have both done at the same time. Imagine having to do two separate surgeries. Ugh.
  2. It’s like a corset you wear around your waist. It’s not tight tight like to shape your waist, but firm like those belts guys use for heavy lifting. It supports your tummy and keeps it from jiggling around which causes pain. It’s very comfortable and reduces pain significantly. I got mine from amazon a couple of days after surgery and it’s helped a lot. Here is a link: https://www.amazon.com/Everyday-Medical-Abdominal-Binder-Surgery/dp/B07G4N752D I highly recommend. I got the suggestion from someone else here on Bariatric Pal.
  3. It is more pain than I expected too. And lasting longer. Tomorrow will be one week. I was hoping to be more comfortable by now but it does get better every day. Mornings seem to be the hardest Im in a bit of a conundrum when it comes to pain meds. I don’t want to take the PERCOCET because it makes me so sleepy that I spend all day in bed. I’ve been swapping it with liquid Tylenol but I worry about my liver as it’s already on overdrive from the surgery. I don’t want to cause damage. I did get a post surgery binder. That has done wonders for the pain although it does get a bit uncomfortable by the end of the day. I take it off to sleep. For some reason it seems to irritate my belly button incision a bit. But the comfort it provides outweighs the small discomforts. I do recommend it to everyone. A warning to Winchell. I’ve been in more pain after I left the hospital than while there. It’s because the pain meds are not as consistent or as good as they were in the hospital. Also I think we are just more sore a few days later. I do hope that’s not your case, but don’t be surprised. I hope everyone feels better quickly.
  4. You’d better get em now. Once you can fit into them you may not find them. Get them in the size you WANT to be and they can be your “goal jeans”.

    Any September Sleevers?

Hi Pey, I had mine on the 19th. We just missed each other. How are you feeling?

    September 2019 🍂🍁

I’m doing great. Thanks for asking. I had a lot of pain when I first woke up. But he morphine drip eventually calmed it. That was around 4 pm. By midnight I was no longer pushing the bottom for morphine. Now I’m just resting comfortably. I am getting an odd gas’s pain in my shoulder and upper back that comes and goes. That pain is worse than the surgery pain. But even then it eventually subsides. I was able to drink water well. I drank my liquid protein but I couldn’t stomach the jello. Overall I’m happy. Not too much pain and so glad it’s over.

    Period during surgery

Oh yeah. I remember those from when I had my kids. I mean just call it what it is. A diaper. Lol

    Help having issues.

You can always get back on track. Always! I’m sorry for your loss. I bet your parents are rooting for you. Just go back to the basics. Maybe star with two or three days on a liquid diet then do small portions and healthy snacks. Loosing weight after surgery is easier than before surgery so you got this.

    Any September Sleevers?

Your blood sugars are probably high because of the glucose in your IV. This may be why no one brought it up. The same for your blood pressure. When you are in pain and discomfort it will go up. Definitely check them both again once you are feeling better. I would not be surprised if they are back to normal.
  12. Im on day 3 of the liquid diet and it’s getting easier. The first day was hell, but yesterday and today have been better. I learned to not let the hunger grab hold of you. Have your shakes at the first sign of cravings. Keep snacking on your sugar free yogurts and puddings, pops etc. Drink lots of water. Also I added the plain Greek yogurt and that helps curb the hunger a lot. My first day I was totally miserable, but now I’m managing just fine. I hope it lasts. My surgery is on the 19th and it can’t get here fast enough.

    Sept surgery people

Mine is September 19th and I started my liquid diet today. I. Am. Miserable! I thought it would be easier. Maybe it will get better but it’s only day 1 and I’m already sick of it. This is why I need the surgery. I’m already ready to give up. But I know I have to do this and I’m sticking with it.

Me! Im scheduled for the 19th. 🤗
  15. With sleeve surgery you loose about 60-70% 0f your EXCESS weight. Meaning if you weigh 200 lbs and you need to loose 80lbs to get to a healthy BMI, you will loose 60-70% of that. That means on average you’ll loose around 50 of your 80 lbs (this is just an example, most people weigh more than 200lbs). You will not become too skinny unless you really are determined to do so. I think we all wish we could get down to super model measurements, but the truth is, it just doesn’t work that way. People who have reached the super skinny weights ha e done so because they worked hard at it and wanted it. It doesn’t just miraculously happen. You have full control. This is an unwarranted fear and perhaps just your head playing tricks on you to try to talk you out of doing the surgery. Don’t let it. You've got this.

I can’t believe some of you only have to do a 5 day liquid diet. I have to do it for two weeks. Mine starts Wednesday. Surgery on the 19th. Last week it felt so far away and now it seems to be right around the corner. I can’t wait.
  17. Hi all. I just got my pre-op testing done on Thursday. Exactly three weeks before my surgery. I’m pretty sure all is good but I’m just curious and a little nervous. Did anyone here fail their pre op? And if so what caused you to fail it and what happened after? We’re you able to get the surgery? Was it postponed? I just really don’t want to have my surgery delayed in any way.
  18. Tell me all about your surgery day. What was it like? What procedure did you go through in terms of getting ready for your operation on the day of. What was the sedation process and how did you feel immediately after?

    New 5 days old

You ma feel like you need four weeks now, but I hear it gets better very quickly. You’ll be back up and about in no time. Congratulations

    Day of info please

I find it really helps not to look at the needle and just sing something to yourself and before you know it, it’s over. Even if it’s the abc song. For me, the more I see it, the more it freaks me out, but if I don’t look and distract myself, it flies by.
  21. Glad to hear that Nancy. 55 lbs in 6 weeks is amazing. Congratulations

    Any September Sleevers?

Wow. Are you doing it with Dr. Shillingford? I have mine on the 19th with him. I just did my pre-op clearance testing on Thursday and I start my liquid diet next week. I hope the stupid hurricane keeps moving north and hopefully misses you. What part of the Bahamas are you in?
