    Psychologist Evaluation....

I am self-pay - my insurance doesn't cover it and they still require the psychologist visit - don't mind paying for it but why is it necessary if it isn't for insurance purposes.
  2. I am confused as to how many people say they "took blood" - why do they take blood before surgery - I have had to get my blood work done this week for my June 27th surgery. Seems a little late to take blood once you are already there ready for your surgery - Thanks.

Finally got my first fill.. woohooo

I travel a lot with my husband and the main thing I am worried about is being able to eat something while we are at dinner so I don't just sit there while he is eating 2 courses like we both usually do. I have 40 lbs to lose so I am going to tell the doctor to make my band loose because I don't care how long it takes me to lose would rather have a more normal diet and it take longer than not be able to eat anything at all during our travels. I have read where some people can eat pretty normally right after surgery and some people can't eat a thing or drink anything - that sounds like the band must be too tight - it is very confusing - I realize people are different so I guess that is why there are so many different experiences.
  4. I only have 40-50 lbs to lose - if you are willing to bypass insurance payment and pay out of pocket you can get the lap band done. My insurance would not cover it because I didn't qualify or have any of the morbidities i.e., diabetes, high blood pressure, etc., sleep apnea so have to pay myself. I will be banded on June 27th - I am getting my chest x-ray, bloodwork, etc. done next week and have my pre-op appt 4 days before so must not have to do the 2 week liquid diet.
  5. I have my surgery scheduled for June 27th. I have about 50 lbs to lose - my doctor said liquid or protein only for week before but he said 5 weeks after surgery could only have "hard" liquids like oatmeal, cottage cheese, soups, etc. I have heard so many conflicting things - one person told me they could eat normally afterwards - one person said they could only eat a teaspoon of food a day. What is the reality? Thanks?
