  1. I have been very depressed since I broke my ankle 2 weeks ago. 6 weeks of no weight on it was a devastating blow. I have been sitting here in a funk binge watching my 600lb life.

For the last 2 weeks I just kept thinking OMG I am going to stall sooo bad. My hubby kept encouraging me to get on the scale to keep up with my progress, so today I got past the fear of gain and HOLY CRAP 199 with my splint!!

I also bet another goal I finally weigh less than my hubby!!

This was the boost I needed today as they took my staples out and confirmed a month more of no weight on my ankle. Thankfully I'm not really capable of snacking or the last 2 weeks would have been horrible.

  2. Monday night I was dizzy and collapsed right on my left ankle. Broke it in 3 different places. Had surgery on it on Tues. I can't put any weight on it for about 6 weeks. Going to have to figure out stuff to do either sitting or by using my knee scooter. This is the absolute suck.

  3. Did they ever try a standard mood stabilizer like lamictal? I take seroquel to help me sleep and for anxiety, but lamictal is what we use to stabilize my mood. Likewise, I have tried latuda only as an in addition to my anti-depressant not for my mood. Seroquel never made me gain any weight I take 200-300mg at night. Occasionally I'll take 4 but not often. Latuda was horrible for me I had one of the rare side effects. But 300mg of lamictal keeps me pretty much stabilized.

I hope they find the right combo for you.

  4. Talk to your surgeon and the anesthesiologist about it. I didn't mention my anxiety I thought I could do it. FF to sitting in the pre-op area and all the goings on. The anesthisologist came in and I told him, he gave me a small dose - I explained to him that I had had a liver biopsy done and they gave me what he just did and it didn't work at all. So, he added to the dose for me. If you have anxiety meds, make sure you can take them and be honest during the pre-op phase. My anesthesiologist even worked through my clausterphobia (no oxygen mask)

  5. First GL with the surgery. I had mine done 2 weeks before my hubby came home from being deployed so I can feel ya on deployment. As for a long drive be careful! About 3 weeks after my surgery we had to make a 6 hour drive for my daughters gymnastics meet. The way there, I was golden. On the way home, had my hubby not been with us to drive we would have had to stay a few nights. I suddenly got sick the day of her meet a reaction to a medicine they had put me on. We had to stop often and I was living on zofran.

Make sure you have plenty of Protein and Water. In addition to my Protein Drinks I also brought dannon light and fit yogurt drink. It "filled" me up more than just a reg Protein Shake, so I use them as Snacks.

Someone mentioned maybe postponing surgery till after the deployment, I am going to say, while the trip to Williamsburg could be hard, if you have your mom with you then really I think you will be just fine. My mom was supposed to stay with me for a week after my surgery- after my pain got under control I sent her home within 4 days of me being home. As a milso you probably know that whole "I can take care of myself" thing LOL

  6. My support system includes my Pain Management Dr and his staff. The girls are amazing last month they wanted to take a picture of me to compare it when I came back this month. So they took a new pic and one of them texted me the comparisons with a "You look AMAZING" attached to it. This is the first time I have seen a comparison shot of me and really makes me feel great as I can't see it when I look at myself. I love how I managed to find Dr's and their staff who are so amazingly supportive as well. Even my Dr was like WOW and commented maybe he should look into it kinda jokingly but he does not hide from the fact he is overweight and I love that about him. 37 lbs lost and oddly enough I am wearing the same damn bra in both pics LOL First one is Sept 4 2 weeks after surgery. 2nd one is today.

  7. 7 weeks out 36lbs lost

Daily Water intake = C- : I was doing really great with my Water intake, then I got sick and dehydrated still struggling to get enough now. It is very hard for me to drink for some reason.

Daily Protein intake = C : Again before I got sick I was 2 Protein Shakes a day easy. Now I struggle to get one down, I'm slowly getting better now that I can get more Protein from food- I have issues drinking, but noe with eating.

Food choice = B : I am very mindful of what I am eating. It is hard I am avoiding cravings daily-been craving McDonald's fries since 2 weeks out. I have NOT given in.

Portion Control = A+ : I eat very small portions, I go by what my ounces should look like. I haven't overdone it yet.

Mindful eating = B+ : I try hard to pay attention to it while I am eating. I don't always get it to applesauce consistency but I make sure I chew a lot and I eat very slow most of the time. I am shocked at how quick this part has come to me

Exercise = F : I am at little to no exercise. Sadly my back pain has increased since surgery, and I have not had an injection since before surgery so even walking is very hard. Today I did some "bike riding" in my neighbors pool and I am getting an injection tomorrow along with a refill of my pain meds. Hopefully this will help a lot.

Vitamins = C : I do not know why it is so hard for me to remember to take my Vitamins and Calcium. They are right there with the meds I take everyday. I need to work a lot harder on them

Self image = D : Dysmorphia is a *****. I have a very hard time with this. I can not see a change at all. I know I am smaller and have lost inches, just when I look at myself I still see pre-surgery me. Thankfully my family and friends make sure they tell me the changes they see.

Mental Health = B My mental health hasn't changed much. I'm maintaining which is as good as I can hope.

Relationships = A+ : My family and friends are amazing. My friends often tell me the changes they see and when we are going out to lunch or dinner together are always very mindful of my dietary needs when they pick the places we go. (Our daughters are competitive gymnasts we always go out to eat after a meet) My hubby was deployed when I had surgery and lost weight. Now he is more mindful of portions using smaller plates etc. He also will not bring fast food home which helps me a lot because again-craving fries lol

Self care = C : I need to really work on this in during the remainder of this year and slip into 2020 with a better regime.

I am almost a month post op I’ve lost 24 lbs since surgery and 25 on pre op I just don’t feel like I lost because lately I’ve been bloating and I don’t know why along with some pains

This is so me. I was actually just looking in the mirror and thought ugg 36lbs down and I still look freaking pregnant! I was taking daily pics I had a set back and stopped-I really need to start again. I know inches are gone, I just honestly do not know where from. None of my clothes are falling off and I don't have any too small clothes to try on. I went shopping for a goal outfit and some new clothes and I couldn't find a single thing worth buying.

  9. First, I do not take ambien or any other controlled sleeping medicine.

The only new medicines I have been on since this started is ActiGall and Pepcid AC

Is anyone doing strange things in the middle of the night? I will "come to" and be sitting on the edge of my husbands side of the bed. No idea how I manage to do that Just sitting there. I will come into the dining room and be so out of it hubby says go back to bed and I will randomly pick something up off the table that I think needs to go to bed with me books, paper, bowls, silverware.

There have been a few nights that apparently I am doing into the garage and opening the garage door in the middle of the night.

Then theres this from last night I have no idea why I did this..but I am a little impressed I managed to make room in the fridge for it lol

  10. We have to make a 7ish hour trip on Sat, and then turn around drive it again to come home on Sun (my daughter is a competitive gymnast meet is on Sun)

On Monday due to some reflux issues they made me go back on liquids, my surgeon told me to slowly start adding back some solids.

I have some crunchy Protein Snacks from a bariatric site and I am thinking some drinkable yogurts (light and fit kind) Other than that right no I am completely blanking on what I should pack for the drive. I have been able to have deli meat moistened but somehow that turns my stomach just thinking about eating it while we are driving. I'm also not sure how things like Jello would be while driving. Have any of yall had drives like this? What did yall pack to eat on the way. I'll be 4 weeks post op on Mon.

    TIA

I have found a Water that has no calories but is lightly flavored. It is great. Taste is super and no calories, fat etc. If you would like to try it, use the link
    drinkcirkul.com/share/Cinde-V1593110429786
I plan to use it after surgery. It has a great lid that allows you to take little sips. Just thought someone might want to try it.

LOL Going for the personalized one? I didn't even think of that here.

  12. I got cirkul months ago to try as I know I have problems with Water. With the right flavors I love it! I don't love all the flavors but a good amount and I am so excited that they added cucumber, I placed my order for that yesterday LOL Popping in a cirkul flavor is so much easier than the chopped cucumbers in my fridge.

Since surgery I have noticed that I can dial down the flavor on some, that is nice as the lower the flavor the more bottles of water it will last.

Could well be oesophageal spasm which is horrendous and can make you feel like there is pressure at the back of your throat and can burn or just be 9/10 pain if the spasm is strong enough. Something is going on seeing as you have the ongoing hiccups. Hope you get to the bottom of it :100_pray:

Spasms is what he told me. Prescribed me dicyclomine, a gut antispasmodic and added another day to my liquids only before slowly going back to solids.

Had the hiccups as soon as I got up but thankfully no chest pain. Hopefully this stuff along with carafate and pepcid will work. But he said if I'm not doing better by Monday to call back to get seen again.

Oh great I take 4mg of zanaflex almost every night.

I took 4mg 3x a day. That night time dose interacting with another med is how I slept. I can tell I am not taking it anymore. There is more pain in my back than I have had in the last year. I would start seeing if there is anytihng similar that isn't a muscle relaxer. To my knowledge no but something is fixing to have to give.

It's highly unusual to have GERD with RNY. Not impossible, but it usually signals a different problem.

So essentially when they fixed my hernia during surgery did my GERD I previously had just kind of go away and now it's probably gastritis? Honest question- I was thinking my GERD would be gone after surgery..but I'm back to same symptoms and worse pain. I hate having strictures dilated but, if that's what I need for this pain to go away..schedule me now!! lol

  16. I have already posted about my issue with hiccups that started on Fri just prior to 3 weeks out and what they told me to do. Well, yesterday was my first whole day back on liquids and I restarted the carafate on Mon. Well, not only do I still have the hiccup issue, yesterday I had the most horrific chest pain. The only reason I didn't totally freak out is I knew the pain was GERD related but it was much worse than anything I ever had pre-surgery. Feels like I can't swallow at times as well.

I called this morning and got an appt for this afternoon but I am wondering has anyone else experienced something like this?

  17. I am still allowed to take my pain medicine, but I also took zanaflex and my surgeon nixed that one. Just be sure they have an accurate list of all your medication. They will tell you which is good and whats not. I'll admit I am having a hard time without the zanaflex, but surgeon told me it could put a hole in my gut and yeah...I'm not sure I want that lol.

Also, a just to let you know, I had to stop my PM meds because surgeon would prescribe stronger meds. Well 2 days after being home I quit taking the diuladid percocet was soo much better for my pain. Just make sure you don't mix if you change like I did. I went from feeling almost as bad as I did day 2 to feeling like a totally productive human in the span of hours just by changing.
