  1. Hi Jennifer , thank you for your encouragement . A few days ago I emailed the specialist nurse , with a question about the diet and got an email from her , where she’d attached a copy of the diet . I couldn’t open it , but then today managed to , and now Im really panicking because the paperwork I was given, says a few different things from the diet she sent me , and I’ve been doing it for 4 weeks !😖 I weighed myself today and have only lost 3kgs 😢I’m so worried they’ll cancel my surgery. After 2 cancellations, and 2 and a 1/2 years of work and waiting , if they cancel it again , I’ll feel like giving up. I hope you don’t mind me venting. I’m just so worried . I rang the hospital to ask if it’s likely they’ll cancel, but had to leave a message , and I’m still waiting to hear from them . Thank you for listening to me . 🤗x

  4. Hi Jennifer . I really hope you aren’t kept waiting too long . I know what you mean , I had been going and collecting information I was asked to get , and they never even asked me for it .Yes , it’s SO frustrating , and when you’re told one thing is happening and it doesn’t , and you don’t even hear anything from them. They asked me to make a special appointment with the surgeon to discuss when my surgery would be done, a 2 day performance for me to get there , and he told me November 2018, and I never heard anymore . I probably wouldn’t have done by now if the dietician I saw hadn’t queried it ! Stick with it Jennifer , it will be worth it in the end . I’ll definitely keep you posted. I know it may be different in the UK to the U.S. but it’s good to be able to compare notes! Good luck Peggy .
  5. I can empathise with you Jen. I hate mine too . I have the nasal one as well and it’s so uncomfortable . I haven’t been using it properly . I hope you still get your surgery . When is it ? Mine is next Monday . I’m hoping it won’t affect me having the surgery either . I started this journey 2 and 1/2. years ago , and have been going miles every month for appointments , then off to other places they send me to locally . The surgeon told me it would be last November and it never happened and was still going for appointments , until someone queried a few weeks ago why I hadn’t had it yet . I quickly got a date for July, and that was cancelled at the very last minute because of the extreme heat that day, I now have one for next Monday . I’ve been on the liver diet for weeks now . Im telling you this to say don’t give up . I think it’s usual to wait a year- 18 months to get surgery . I am in England tho, I don’t know if it’s different in other places . Where are you ? I wish you all the best with this . 😊

    What to say to Dr?

    m.sss, No , London in England ! Sorry , I didn’t realise there was another London !
  9. I started the pre-op diet 3 weeks ago , but then my surgery was cancelled at the last minute because of the extreme heat here, and my surgeon wanted me to carry on with it. So my surgery is now on 12th August .I was surprised at how easy I found it to do . Having said that, I think it was much easier than Ive heard on here. It sounds like most people have to do just liquids . Mine is 4 Slimfast and 2 cups of vegetables a day. Does anyone else do this ? Anyone here from England ?
  10. I was told by the hospital to do a diet of 2 cups of vegetables , and 4 slimfast a day . but I hear everyone talking about the pre- op liquid diet 🤔Is that what most people’s are doing ? I’ve been doing it now for nearly 4 weeks , because my surgery was cancelled on 25th July because of the extreme heat here , and they told me to carry on with the liver shrinkage diet until I went in again . Sometimes I get hungry but surprised how I could do it .l

  12. me too Lynda ! I hate it when people have to help me out of the car . Im also looking forward to getting off of a sofa without struggling , and being able to put my shoes and socks on without it being a major operation !
  13. These posts are so reassuring . I haven’t heard one person say that they regret doing it .Thanks to everyone who posted .
  14. Thanks Ruby. That makes me feel a bit better . I think it’s the biggest fear I have with this surgery . Pain I can deal with, but vomiting - no 😖Hope things are going well for you now .
  15. Nice to meet you too Joan . I’m Peggy. I live in East Sussex in England . I’m having my surgery in Chelsea in London . So Long Island is in the U.S. right ? . I wouldn’t have gone for a sleep study either if the Hospital hadn’t sent me when I first was referred for surgery . I hope this post goes ok. I’m having real trouble finding my way round here - my sense of direction is nil! I’m sure I’ve sent punts to the wrong places tonight! Here goes !
  16. THANK YOU ! I thought I was the only one . Everyone else I talk to seemed to be getting on with theirs fine .I can’t sleep with it either , but I’ve been made to realise just how important it is . Maybe a different kind of mask ? I’m a bit worried about it having a bearing on the surgery too, but I actually was about to go down to theatre last week , and they cancelled at the last minute , because the weather was so hot here , and the operating theatres were too , so it wasn’t safe to operate, my point being ,they didn’t even ask about my CPAP then . I guess different hospitals have different policies tho . I wish you all the best of luck with yours on the 12th .

    Lowest Weight since 2004

    That’s great! well done!
  18. I’m sure you are 😄 I have one that looks very similar to the one ,that the not so good looking guy , is wearing in the picture , but I was never sure whether I’d got the nasal bits in my nose properly and was afraid it wouldn’t be working properly. How would I know if it wasn’t ? Would it hiss or something ?
  19. I’m so sorry about the damage that Sleep Apnoea has done to your husband .Thank you for taking the trouble to reply and share it with me . It brought it home , and you have really helped. I’m going to start using my machine properly now ,from tonight . and look into a different one if that’s what is needed. I wish you all the very best of luck on your journey too.
  20. Thank you so much . I didn’t know about the Bi-Pap, but I’m not falling asleep everywhere , but don’t have a lot of energy and do get tired quickly. It was diagnosed as severe - stopped breathing 37 times in an hour .Maybe Im under estimating the importance of using it .I haven’t had much follow up care since I got the CPAP. Did the hospital help you with a different mask ? or did you just have to keep buying different ones ? Sorry about all the questions .
  21. Hi Peggy. The message I replied with was to Chiptress. I have an iPhone so I only know how to respond using an iPhone. But to reply just hold your finger on the message the person typed and a box will pop up that says quote. Select that and then type your message. It lets that person know you’re responding to them. Thank you Carolina :-) Trying to learn how to use this . Im on an Iphone too.

    What to say to Dr?

I just went to my doctor and asked if I could be referred . She didn’t try to lecture me or anything , just asked me if I realised the appointments would be in London , and referred me .
  23. Haven’t quite got my head round this site yet . Can someone tell me , is the message above this for me ? or could it be for someone else ?
  24. So sorry that happened to you Ruby. Is there a way we can avoid vomiting ? I have a real bad fear of it . It hasn’t happened to me for 50 years! So I’m really really worried about it . Was anyone else like this? or is it just me ? I’m having a by pass on 12th August .
  25. Thank you for replying Birdog 😊 Do you find the mask uncomfortable? (although you may have a different one to me .) I know I should be using it , but it doesn’t actually help me sleep any better , although maybe we don’t get the right quality of sleep without it ? I’m so annoyed with myself , and worried that they may stop my surgery on the 12th if they ask me if I’m using it . I have to get my act together and start using it again . Sorry for venting .
