  1. I was banded 2/19 I have lost 25 pounds to date. 11 of those are pre-banding. It has been very slow for me. I have 2.75 cc in a 8cc band. My first fill was 2cc and my second fill was .75 cc. I workout about 2-3x per week. I have not yet found my sweet spot. I am scheduled for another fill in 3 weeks. Hopefully, this one will do it. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I am eating 1500-1800 calories a day.

  2. I am almost 4 weeks post-op and am on mushies. I 've been getting that "stuck feeling" or at least that's what I think it is- sometimes when I eat too fast. It's a pain in the center of my chest almost like I can't swallow the food down- until I take a sip of Water or try to puke some of it up. Why is happening? It doesn't happen with Soup , or Protein Drinks but it happens with string cheese, tuna, eggs. I think that I am probably eating too fast for my stomach- I don't have any Fluid in the band yet- my surgeon said it is in neutral position. Is this my body's way of trying to tell me to slow down? Any advice is welcome- still haven't lost anything since surgery- I know that Ia m not suppose to compare myself to others- but- It's frustrating!

  3. Hello all-

I was banded on 2/19 and since my banding I have only lost 3lbs. Some of you newly banded people have lsot a lot more. My band is empty right now, my first fill is not until 4/16. I am getting very frustrated. My calories are around 1500 a day. I just started working out again. What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions would be appreciated:crying:

  4. Hello all, I am about 2 and a half weeks post-op and I am getting very confused as I read some of these posts. I am officially on Mushies! And have maybe lost 1 pound since the surgery. I have been following the post op religiously! Why have some people lost up to 12-15 pounds before their first fill? I am not scheduled to get a fill until mid- april. can anyone help me?

  5. Hang in there! I too was banded on the 19th. The day after surgery I was seriously asking myself- "What the Hell did I do" But these two weeks have been rough for me also- I still have some internal pain when I move funny or sleep funny. I am also still on 2 Protein Shakes a day, 1-2 sf Jello, and lowfat cream Soup for dinner. I haven't lost any weight either. But I do somedays have terrible diarreha. Tomorrow is my 2- week check and I should go on mushies tomorrow! Let's keep in touch!

  6. I was banded on the 19th! the first week for me after was really hard I too, was extremely hungry. I was told to only do Protein liquids, sf Jello, sf pudding, and lowfat cream Soups. I was soo hungry Friday that I snitched some grahm crackers that seemed to do the trick. I only have 4 more day on this liquids then, on Thursday, hopefully I will go to mushies after I meet eith the dr. I have only lost 1 pound since the surgery. Let's keep in touch

  7. hello all! I had my band done on 2/19 and I am experiencing the same pain on the left hand side. I think it is gas because when I take gasx and move around it seems to go away. Does any one who has been recently banded feel like when they get up out of bed that their stomach feels like they did a million situps? Oh- and I am hungry too! I tried creamed Soups last night- only a few tablespoons. I started having a Protein Shake about 1/2 hour before I go to bed becasue my stomach was growling and aching beacause I was so hungry! Tomorrow I am going back to work! How's everyone else doing?:w00t:

  8. hello all! I am 2 days post-op. Thurs and Fri were really tough days- i was in alot of pain. I still feel very stomach heavy whenever I stand up. I am also very Hungry- I have had my 2 Protein Shakes today. Does anyone have any suggestions what else I can drink or snack on to make the hunger pains go away. I am a teacher and I am planing on going back to work on Monday. I teach 3rd grade. I think that I will be fine.

  9. I too am on Plaquinil- i have Lupus. I went for my pre-op last week (surgery is on the 19th) I brought All of my meds- My surgeon says I need to split my Plaquinil in half. I am on 2 2oo mg tablets aday. So of instead taking 2-200, I will be taking 4 200's cut in half:)

  10. I too have BCBS of IL. Two weeks ago I completed my 6t month Dr. Supervised weight loss visits. I started looking into this process May of '08. At the end of May I had my 1st psych eval, 2nd eval was later that week, and my third eval was in the begining of June. Mid June I had Nutritionist appt, and Bariatric Dr. Appt. The only thing that was left was my 6 month. I started my 6 month in Aug. Because the Dr. office thought I could get approved based on all of my records- They submitted all my info, It was denied based on the lack of 6 month diet with a dr. So, my info was sent to obesity law by my dr.'s office.

They have been great! They resubmitted my information last week and I am anxiously awaitng to hear from BCBS! I think that your surgery is usually scheduled within 3-4 weeks of approval.

  11. I understand. I am going through the same thing. Last Fri. The 9th, I had my last Dr. supervised appt. Today, I faxed everything. I faxed it to the lawyers who are patient advocates. This waiting game is a killer. I didn't lose any weight either. If we could lose weight on our own, why would we put in for this? I hope my paperwork gets approved! The only reason why I was denied was because my 6 mo. wasn't completed. Best of luck to you! Let's keep in touch! Hopefully we will be banded around the same time:wink2:

  12. I've been reading some of these posts and they say that you actually need 7 months of Dr. supervised weight loss? What? I was told by my insurance BCBS of IL and by my patient advocate from Day One Health that I only needed 6. Some of these posts say you actually need 7? That the first month doesn't count??

  13. I just had my 6 mo. appt./weigh in yesterday. Yipee I am done! However, on my last denial letter they stated the reason why I was denied was that my 6 month was not completed. I am going to fax my completed 6 month evaluation Monday. If it was stated the only reason why I was not approved, shouldn't I be approved when everything is resubmitted. I have met all of the other requirements. I have bcbs of IL.

  14. Hello all,

I just wanted to introduce myself and and tell you my story. I am 37 years old, and have been slightly overweight, but physically active most of my life. I was diagnosed with lupus (mild) about ten years ago, have mild asthma, and have PCOS. For the last 6 years my weight has slowly creeped up to about 80 pounds more than when I got married, 13 years ago. My PCP has put me on Meridia, and the good part of phen phen. I was successful at losing some weight, but when I stopped taking them, I gained the weght back and then some. I started the band process last May. I've had my psych, passed, met with dr, nutritionist ect. I have been denied 2x once through appeals. Friday will be the 6th and Final dr. appt. for my 6 month supervised diet. I have lsot and gained the same 5 lbs during this 6 month process. Once I complete this appointnment doesn't my insurance have to cover me? I have BCBS of il PPO. According to their denial letter, I was just lacking in my completed 6 month- Which I will complete this Fri. Once again, Don't they Have to accept me once this is completed?:tongue2:
