    UK Local Lap-Band Support

Hi Just to let you know I had my band fitted by Dr Dillmans in The St Jans, lovely hospital, they could teach ours a thing or two. Have my fills in Barnes London, I am from Portsmouth and have had the band since May 2006. I have only lost around 30lbs at the moment and have now had five fills and think my last one may be the one, it's only been a week so hopefully I will now see a bigger weight loss.
  6. Does anyone know of any fill doctors in the south of the UK and how much they charge?

    Sore Throat

Yes what you have said is what is happening but because of the feeling of a cold I am not sure about this time so need to see if it does continue. I had a sore throat about 4wks ago which has been on and off, then I got another one which turned into laryngitis it's only been cleared for about a week and I started with this one yesterday but like I said I feel unwell so I am not sure. I am unable to eat with out the sliming which can be a whole cup to a couple of spits or sometimes PBing. If I just get the sliming then once the first mouthful has gone down, I am able to continue eating with no problem .

    Sore Throat

Just lately I have pbing quite alot and if not that, I am having to spit into a cup which I nearly fill up before I can start eating again. It seems that everything I am eating is causing this to happen. It happens with the first thing I eat at every meal regardless to what it is and how small. My last fill was Nov 11th and this has started about a week ago. I am now getting a lot of sore throats.

    Sore Throat

Oh I have just got over laryngitis a week ago but previous to that I had a bad throat and now got this sore throat which has now been followed by that egg shall feeling so I have put it down to getting a cold. I was getting a bit concerned as for the last 4 weeks there has hardly been a day that my throat hasn't been sore so thought it may of been caused by acid. I will give it a couple of more weeks, and if I still get a sore throat, I will speak to my doctor. I'm not sure if it's just because it's that time of the year or if it really is the band. Thank you for all your help

    Sore Throat

Hi Thanks for your post. My sore throat is due to having a cold now. I woke this moring with it so it is not the band this time. Is the sliming due to the band being too tight, not chewing or consuming too much? Also by sliming too much would the sore throat be due to the amount of acid in the slim?:help:

    Slow Losers - Unite!

Can I join please? I was banded on the 12th May and have lost 28lb. I'm still very hungry even though I am finding quite a few foods wont go down. I just don't know what to eat to get that weight loss started. I'm thinking of doing the soup diet to get it going.

    What to eat....

    What to eat....

I was banded on the 12th May and up to now have lost 28lb with three fills. Everyone is different but, does anyone know what quantity of food should be eaten through out the day. I know if you have the bypass the quantity of food are just a few spoonfuls at time. I can eat more or less anything except certain meats like pork or ham and tomatoes which tend to get stuck and give me a really bad headache and I also get a pain in my shoulder if I have eaten too much but after about an hour or so I start feeling hungry again. When I get the right fill will I only be eating a couple of spoonfuls at each meal? I still get very hungry.

    Pb's and Vomiting

If you have eaten too much do you pb almost as soon as you have swallowed. On Sunday I had some fish around 6 oclock. I did feel rather full but not uncomfortable. Some time in the night I woke feeling sick and had a feeling as if I some thing heavy in my stomach. I went back to sleep but woke again feeling sick and getting pains, as I reached the bathroom I was sick felt better went back to bed and sleep. I woke again a couple of hours later feeling the same was sick but also had diarreha. I started acheing all over which lasted for the rest of Monday except the sickness which I only felt but was only sick one more time. I still feel a bit sicky and the aches are just going off but what I would like to know is, was this vomitting a result of eating too much, food poisoning or bug. Also how do you know when you have band slippage

    May 2006 Band Crew

Hi I was banded on 12th May and have just had my first fill. If you are like me and squinny at the slightest thought of a needle comming near you then, I will put your mind at rest. There is nothing to it. It does not hurt one bit. Now lets hope this fill helps me lose a bit more. I have lost 14lb so far. I will get my ticker changed soon and when I do I hope it's more than the 14.
  18. I was banded on the 12th May and everything seems to be fine except, when I feel the area where the port is meant to be it doesn't feel any different to the other scar areas. I would of thought that I would of felt the port under the skin. Has anyone else experienced this? Can anyone feel their port under the skin. I am now getting worried as I don't like needles and when it comes to my first fill, and they cant find the port I will panic. :help:

    May 2006 Band Crew

Hi I have lost a stone (must change my ticker) I am not restricted at all well at least I don't think I am, although I can tolerate the hunger a lot better than I use to and plus say no to naughty things. It is really stressing me out not being able to feel the port as I don't like needles and if they have to start hunting around looking for it I will panic. I will say I am so glad I went through with it.

    May 2006 Band Crew

Hi everyone hope your all doing well. I go for my first fill on the 1st July which will be 7wks post op. My scars are healing well but, I cant seem to feel where my port is. I know it is meant to be under the longest scar but when I lay flat I can not feel it, there doesn't seem to be any hardness under the skin which I would of thought I would of felt or at least there would of been a slight difference from the rest. Am I meant to be able to feel it?

    Dressing removal

Could someone tell me when the dressing has to be removed. Mine had sterial strips and a waterproff dressing put over. The dressing has been changed three times and I was told the dressing could come off at ten days, ten days today. I have taken the dressing off but the sterial strips are still there. Can I now soak them off? I only had internal stitches. They are starting to itch now. Thanks

    May 2006 Band Crew

Well it's now 9 days since being banded. I am starving but trying hard to limit the amount I am having. The only problem I seem to have is, a bad chest. I can't walk very far without getting breathless and feeling an ache in my chest. At night you can hear a slight bubbling sound coming from my chest. I cant seem to have a good cough either. I have been walking around the house and that seems fine but, when I tried to take the dog out for a walk with my husband I had to turn round and come back due to this ache and becoming breathless. I can move around with no pain to the scare areas, only the port sight is a bit sore. When I had my hyserectomy I ended up with a chest infection but this was detected before I even realised I had it. I was given antibiotics almost within wakeing. I had a sore throat when wakeing and sounded a bit croaky and hoarse this time. Does anybody think I my have another chest infection?
