  1. I was banded 5/6/2010 and had lost only 35 lbs by Febrauray of this year. Well, I got on tract on Feb. 1st eating less than 25 Carbs and at least 60 grams of Protein a day. By February 10th I had lost an additiona 8 lbs. I decided I could cheat on the 10th because it was my 5 yr wedding anniversary. I didn't do too bad - had a little popcorn at the movies and maybe 10 chips and queso - ate 1/3 of my grilled chicken and shrimp and a small portion of dessert.

The question I have is if you eat 25 grams or less of carbs a day and then eat a bunch in one day - have you seen your weight increase on the scale a few days later? I was at 237.5 lbs on the 1st and then at 229.5 on the 10th. Since cheating on the 10th, I have gone back to 25 grams of carbs or less a day; but, I weighed this morning (4 days later) and scale showed 231.

Anyone had this experience? I thought if I did really well all week I could "cheat" once a week; but, not if the scale is going to do this each time.

  2. I'm on my 2nd week of pre op diet. First week I could have 2 Protein shakes and one meal of 4 oz lean meat and steamed vegtables. I did pretty good with the exception of 2 bags of snack size peanuts. (Hey, that's Protein, at least!)

I'm on the 2nd week of 4 Protein Shakes a day, broth and that's about it. I've been cheating. I have a friend that I go walking with and at dinnner I have been having a very healthy salad w/ a little cheese & almonds. I've been using a vinigarette dressing - not fat free. I don't think I've done that bad.

See if the idea is to shrink your liver - I don't see one salad a day as something that would prohibit that. Do you?

Today is Day 3 of 2nd week. I've got a date w/ my girlfriend to ditch my husband and come over for my evening salad. Should I keep that date?

Am I doing that bad? Do you think it could hurt me?

  3.

I'm on day 2 of my post op liquid diet and just realized I could eat the popsicles I bought. Well let me tell you when you can't eat at all - sugarfree popsicles rock!

I've done what I consider well - the first 7 days of my diet I can have one Lien Cuisine meal as long as it has no more than 15 grams of carbs. Hard to find one like that I like. I like the pasta's and rice. Can't have that now!

I know I need to get used to no Pasta and rice - and I believe I can - that is not the issue.

Instead of having my Lien cuisine - I had a salad w/ vinigarette dressing. It was yummy.

How bad have I messed up????

  4. How often do you vomit w/ the band?

I'm worried I won't know when to stop and I will end up vomiting alot. Then I worry about the band slipping from the vomiting.

I know that when you eat you eat slowly chewing foods up very good; but, can you tell when to stop to keep you from getting sick? Doesn't food kinda expand in your stomach over time before it starts getting broken down?

  5. I have Cigna and it was approved w/in days of submitting it for approval!

I had to do a 6 month dr. supervised diet, get a recommendation note from my primary dr. , 5 months history of weight and a psyc eval. I'm at 40.2 BMI and have only been over 40 BMI for about 1.5 years. I was afraid it wouldn't be approved; but, it just got approved yesterday!!!!!:)

    It's actually happening very fast!

  6. I have Cigna insurance and am worried I will not get approved.

My BMI is 40.5; but, has not been that for a consecutive 2 years. I may have 1.5 years at 40 BMI; but, not 2 years.

Did you have problems getting approved? How long did it take? I have already done by 6 mth diet and there was a month or two that I gained a little. Is this going to be a problem?

    Concerned,

    Quinny:confused:

  7. Did you have to do a 6 month Dr supervised diet? I'm starting mine on Tuesday - that's when I go to the Dr. for a weigh in and diet consultation. If you did have to do a diet - does it matter what diet you choose as long as a Dr. is monitering it?

Did you have any health issues? I don't know of any that I have; but, people are telling me that the Dr. will look for them. Is that what happened to you?

I live in Nashville - where are you having your surgery?

  8. I am 5'7" and weigh 251 which puts me at 39 BMI. My insurance states that if you do not have a risk factor you must be at 40 BMI for 24 months. I'm not sure if I have a risk factor - I have pains in my chest and get heartburn often which I hear is a sign of heart trouble. Anyway if the risk factor does not pan out I want to be able to have this surgery 24 months from now.

Should I go ahead and gain the extra 5 pounds to put me at 40 BMI when I go to the doctor? I know I can diet and get these pounds back off after the doctor visit b/c I can lose weight with some work; but, I always gain it back plus some.

My fear is that I go to the doctor at 39 BMI and I continue to lose and gain back more which will put me over 40 BMI. That's going to put me behind for getting the lapband.

I don't know if this makes sense. Basically, every year I diet, lose some weight and gain more back; so why not go ahead and gain 5 pounds and get the clock ticking?

    What would you do?
