I am one year post-op sleeve.
I struggled with losing weight for the last six months, was constantly stalled.
But I didn't gain weight (except for 3 1/2 pounds during holidays, which I've already lost).
So starting January 1st I started eating MORE calories, like a LOT, like 1300/day and guess what? I'm LOSING weight again.
My guess is my body had adjusted to the lower number of calories and was holding on to everything it was getting.
Or maybe my body just needed a rest.
But I feel like I had the longest stall in weight loss surgery history.
Happy now to see the scale going down daily!

I am scheduled for surgery on February 24th, and I can relate to being ready to go!
On July 29th, 2019, I weighed 395.4 pounds, my heaviest weight.
Since that date, through a combination of diet changes, daily exercise and Ozempic, I have lost 105 pounds.
My goal for weight loss before surgery was 100 pounds, and I will continue to lose before surgery.
My goal weight following surgery is 145 pounds.
I have found that the small things are what I notice the most. For example, not being winded walking from my car to my office, or not needing an extender for the seatbelt on airplanes!
I also love how much energy I have, even though I have nearly eliminated caffeine (sans a Diet Coke every once in a while :)).

Perfect!!! I did that same exact thing!! I had a Goal 1 then a Goal 2 then a Goal 3!! So I kinda backed into it cuz I didn't believe I would do it!

Good for you for coming back to center girlie!! I did have a stall at 6 months. I think it lasted a good while. LOL. I had to get back refocused and quit cheatin on myself.
The fewer times you go off the wagon during WLM the better, quite honestly. It's harder and harder the more you reinforce that behavior.

That was the goal weight that my surgeon gave me. I just ran with it. I figure I get to the surgeons goal then I push for my goal- 135/140. I just didn't want to disappoint myself.
I am working hard at eating well. I definitely had a couple Christmas treats, but I reeled it in quick so I didn't go crazy or fall off the wagon too hard. Sometimes it's harder to pick myself up than just keep on rolling.
Did you have a stall around this time?? Did it last a month??

Guys, I gotta get this off my chest.
BariatricPal is a wonderful site that has helped countless people on their weight loss journey. Many topics have been discussed here with some of them being a bit off-color or controversial, but it's OK because we are hear to learn and get help and give help.
But many posters ask honest questions, and some of the responses come off as being judgemental of the poster. If people are afraid their questions are going to bring down a rain of judgements on their head, they are likely NOT to post, and isn't asking questions what this forum is for?
So I hope we can give a bit of consideration when we respond to a question. Opinions are definitely OK, but if the post comes off as judgemental people may be hesitant to ask them, and it defeats the purpose of this forum.
Thanks, whew-I feel better now. I love you all!

So what you are saying is that at 5 years, you've maintained your 110lb loss, but are presently a BMI50? And you just had you GB out. And you have not been taking Vitamins until just this year. Right?
First off, congrats on losing 110lbs!
Second, call your surgeon's office and schedule an appointment to evaluate you. You need a full work-up for vitamin/mineral deficiencies. And he/she needs to evaluate what happened to keep you from fully losing to a healthy BMI level (BMI 50 as you know in your heart isn't very healthy and still conveys a lot of health and mortality risk hon.) Do you have Fatty Liver, or NASH?
Do you still have restriction? Do you eat around your tool?
If it was me, I'd want to get a counselor to start doing the head work, want to get an RD to plan a route of attack that I could live with, and want to pursue the subject of a second surgery to a DS from the VSG (it is the malabsorptive side of a VSG surgery).

Also, I have a thread in the main lobby called Doing the Headwork. Why not go check it out?!! Hugs and hope that helps!

This might belong under the Non-Scale victories thread, but it felt like it warranted a thread, because I didn't see it anywhere else, here.
Are you familiar with the Death Clock? http://www.deathclock.com/
It's morbid and obviously a bit tongue-in-cheek, but the site "calculates" your approximate "death day" based on attitude, weight, and smoking status. I did mine a few years back and it gave me a date of December 25, 2061. I did it again today and I'm happy to report I've bought myself another 8 years with surgery! New "date of death" is January 2, 2069.

How are my fellow December surgeries doing? When was your surgery, and how much have you lost so far?

Mine was 12/30 and I have lost a little over 10lbs since surgery day!

Again, I think the definition of “slow loser” is tough.

For example, I just looked over my weight logs for the first 6 months, and this is what I found: on AVERAGE I lost 2.69 pounds/week. I went from 246.0 to 176.6from February 6-August 6th.
Okay, so the first 2 weeks I lost 22 pounds, and I had several stall weeks, but it’s important to look at a several month range before rushing to judgement.
Since August 6th, I’ve lost an AVERAGE of 1.54 pounds/week.
    Went from 176.6 to 140.8

BTW, goal weight was 155, which I had hit in mid-October.

I’m waaaaaaay more proud of the loss after the first 6 months than I am of the initial losses.
Logically that shouldn’t hold, bc it’s more than a pound/week DECREASE, but those pounds had to come with harder work and really focusing on my plan and then working said plan

The actual numbers aren’t as important as HAVING A GOOD PLAN AND THEN WORKING THAT PLAN.
I’m not saying every day was a success.
Especially during the holidays, I had some hedonistic eating (and drinking days). I had one day in there that I know for a fact I DRANK over 2,000 calories in cocktails.
Overall though, it’s worked bc every day I wake with focus and intensity and that drinking day was actually something I had planned ahead of time, as weird as that sounds.
In short, when I’ve fallen off-plan, it was intentionally and not coming from a place of mental stress or getting caught up in the moment.

According to many people’s definition, I’m definitely a slow loser (<3 pounds/week ave even during the first 6 months) but I’m definitely a WLS “success”.
Here is a photo from this weekend: size 6 skinny jeans, and a size small top and I’m 5’7”.

So for all of you “slow” losers out there: keep up, keep fighting, don’t ever stop and don’t EVER stop working your plan.

Hmmm I do see this recent review on Amazon

I Think These Reviewers Are Imagining Things People are saying they saw changes after a week, posting before and afters that literally look exactly alike - giving rave reviews? Something is off. They are either suffering from confirmation bias or the reviews are fake. First, I've seen this same product marketed as a cellulite reducer, skin whitener, and skin tightener. Sounds sketch.
The instructions are weird and incomplete.
There are three settings and three options for the length of time to use it: 10 min, 20 min, and 30 min. The manual says not to use the machine more than 3-4 times a week. But it doesn't say on which setting or for how long. So if you use it for 30 minutes on the highest setting is that the same as using it on the lowest setting for 10 minutes? Who knows. They don't explain.
I tube of gel comes with the machine, but it has maybe four words in English, the rest in Chinese, so I have no idea what those instructions are, nor the ingredients, but my face and neck broke out in a papular rash for three days. Still, I stayed the course. Not an iota of difference.
I'm not at all impressed. This is just snake oil. Not only that, but I found it on another site for $80, hundreds less than I paid. I'll be returning it. 13 people found this helpful i will be watching to see how it all turns out.

    good luck!
