  1. I don't know if I'm sharing this in the right place but I wanted to share my progress after 3 mths. I'm down 50 pounds. I'm at 178 on my way to 135. I'm 5'3 and started at 228 pounds. I'm so happy.1507880756_Collage202019-08-192013_54_43.thumb.jpeg.f76179f9343b903ad378f76fc0454d41.jpeg

  2. 4 weeks post op and still have only lost 15 lbs. A bit depressed about that. Am on soft foods, but nervous about what that calorie 'increase" (from 100-300 first 2 weeks post op) to 300-400 in first puree week..now soft foods I'm more at 400 to 600 (actually hit 700 the other day and almost panicked) is going to do to my loss.
I asked my dr's office for target macros and they said not to worry about them right now, to just ensure I'm getting in the Water and Protein. I am a person who is very data driven and I don't trust my unhealthy ways of coping with food not to come rearing its ugly head. I'm not 'recovered' from my food addiction. I'm "in recovery" and I know all too much about relapses and just how long it can take to have a true long and sustainable track record to back up that "recovery".
I am actively seeking a therapist closer to me as I have a lot of headwork that still needs to be done...perhaps more now than prior to surgery. My car is no longer reliable so have a therapist super close to the North Fort Worth area is critical. Need them to be skilled at working with WLS clients and I need help with grief...and trauma.
I'm so happy to be part of the July siblings group! I've 'met' so many amazing ppl on here (as well as those that I also adore that aren't part of my 'sibling group'.
    Best wishes everyone!

My doc said the same, focus on Protein and Water. I was hoping to lose more than I've lost by now but I understand it won't happen overnight. I'm keeping myself busy and trying not to pay close attention to the numbers.i hope you find a good therapist close to you!

    Xxx

  3. I'm no expert but from what I'm seeing in this thread 18-20lbs seems to be more or less the average for where you're at, with the sleeve. The RNY folks seem a bit further on, and of course everyone loses at their own rate.
I'm 23 days post op and I'm eating about the same: today was a Protein Drink, a yogurt, and a 2.5oz tuna pouch with 3 parmesan crisps. I'm doing 1-2 hours of walking a day for exercise.
20 pounds in a month is pretty great, so I definitely wouldn't sweat it too hard.
PS: Eating Protein Shakes with milk is a good way to start the day already 31g up on Protein. I use Syntrax's Cappucino with 1% milk and it's a huge help—plus not horrid tasting.
Thanks for the suggestion and the advice. I manage a team of 35 and work long 12-13 hr days which doesn't leave much time for exercise. I do walk alot while at work. I've been trying to cut back my hours so I can dedicate 1 or 2 hours a day walking/exercising. It's just so much to do and not much time [emoji852].

  4. I'm 22 days post OP and have lost 18 lbs to date. My diet currently consist of 2 Premier Protein shakes a day and 1/2 cup of baked or grilled chicken. I'm able to get in 50 to 60oz of Water a day and I do 264 stair steps a day. I've only lost 2 lbs this week, thought it would be more. The nurse says to increase my Protein and water but it's so hard. After a few bites I am already full. Just wondering what I can do to lose more weight. I have alot going on right now and have no time to excercise more than the stairs. I hope I'm on the right track and doing what I should be doing.

  5. I have been struggling with my weight my whole life. It's always a comment from my parents, or my old doctor saying that I should eat more veggies and salads and run more. Or me trying fad diet after fad diet, or trying a "lifestyle change" diet like Noom or Weight watchers or Keto... but I always hover between 280 and 220 pounds. I remember once, I broke past my 220 pound curse... I got to 200 pounds even! "Finally! Progress!" I thought to myself, but a little voice in the back of my head came around. It was all the doctors I had ever seen come to torture me. "For a person my size, gender, and age. I should be between 100-120 pounds". Ok, so time to change up the routine, and try to lose more weight. I took weight loss pills, exercised harder, but the weight loss just stalled. No matter how much I tried I could not break the barrier.
So. I am taking the plunge into weight loss surgery. I spoke with my PCP, and he said felt it would benefit me. It will help with my insulin resistance that is due to my Pcos (polycystic ovary syndrome), and lower my risk for diabetes and heart problems (both are health issues from my parents). I found a surgeon in the Tampa, FL area and I have my very first appointment with him in a couple weeks... so why do I feel like a failure?
Why is it that I feel like I can try a new way to lose the weight on my own without having surgery? Why am I against the surgery? Why does it feel like I'm failing when I haven't even started? I just want to be healthy... I don't even care about being skinny... I just want to be able to tie my shoes without becoming winded. Or go to a theme park without becoming tired in an hour.
Do I have many, many questions? Yes. But signing up in this forum has helped answer some of them... do I worry about what I'll look like after the surgery? Yes. But that does not outweigh my health... and I know this!
But why on earth do I still want to cancel the appointment and try, for the millionth time, to lose the weight on my own? Why do I feel like giving up when I haven't even started?
Am I the only one who feels like this? I can't be alone in these thoughts, right? ... truthfully I probably should save this discussion for the bariatric therapist; but I can't stop thinking about it...
How did you all do it? How did you guys push past the intrusive thoughts?
    Hi,
I'm also in Tampa and had my surgery 22 days ago and I'm already down 18 lbs post OP. After many many years of dieting...losing and gaining it right back and numerous health issues. I knew I needed help to lose the weight and keep it off. Having this surgery has given me the tool I needed to help lose the weight. I have zero regrets and going into this after spending countless hours of research has helped mentally prepare me for my new way of viewing food. What ever you decide, I wish you all the best!!

  6. I'm 20 days PO and I'm down 18 lbs. I'm getting 50 oz of Water a day. I'm getting 90-120g of Protein a day. I'm only able to get 3-4 spoonfuls before I feel my restriction. I'm trying hard to get my water and protein in. I've been really tired lately and I'm taking all my Vitamins. I guess it's a good thing as I have struggled in the past with sleeping. Hope everyone is having a great week!!

  7. I did hear that not getting the Water (to stay hydrated) and working out (which puts off more of your water) will cause stall (my NUT). I also am there (and gained a lb at my 1st surgery post-op).. I am going to keep going! You too!
Yes! The bariatric nurse at the hospital called to check on me today. She said I need to work harder to get my water in and to increase my Protein intake and that should help me start losing again. Good luck to you as well!!

  8. I hope everyone is doing well. I am very happy with my result. I am logging food and exercising about 5-6 days a week, a combination of spinning and weight training. My advice is to stick with the program whether the weight loss is fast or slow. The excess weight happened over time, so will the weight loss.
    Remember exercise is your friend!!

Mine was 7/30 and I’m at about the same weight loss... but more slow and steady. Also struggling with fluids... some late nights finishing that Water. Started back on soft foods today so I’m graduating from Protein Drinks. I did have one for Breakfast but then had about 1/4 of an avocado with about 1/3 a cup of spicy tuna tartare for a late lunch and so far so good!! It feels good to have real food. Hoping my digestive system agrees.

That is awesome that our surgeries are so close! My day starts at 4am, I can't drink late at nights or I'll be up and down all night in the potty. It's hard for me to drink slow, so sometimes I drink to much and it hurts.i have a Water app with reminders but I'm still too busy at work to take a sip.

I'm eating soft foods but after 2 or 3 bites and I'm done, anything more becomes painful. The shakes go down so much easier. I expected to lose more than the 16 lbs. But I'm pleased so far 😁. I really love having everyone's support on here!! I love hearing everyone's journey.

  10. My surgery was 7/31 and I've lost 16 lbs. I'm at the week 3 stall. The scale has not moved this week. I have 3 Premier Protein shakes a day. I'm exercising an hour daily. I'm struggling to get my Water in daily. I'm averaging 33 oz./day. I cannot wait to start losing again.

  11. Hi all,
Today is my 2nd day back at work, I've had no issues. I'm still struggling to get my Water in daily. I'm doing Protein Shakes for Breakfast and lunch and pureed Protein for dinner. I haven't lost any weight this week but from what I've learned it's common. I'll stay the course and wait it out. Being back at work means I get to go up 3 flights 6x a day. It's great excercise. I've been walking on breaks and lunch even though it's been miserably hot here in Tampa, FL. Hope all my surgery siblings are doing well [emoji847]

  12. We had our 1 month post op weigh in Friday. Before we had this surgery we made a pact that if we were spending all the money to do this we were DOING IT “like a boss”. Following the plan, working the program, working our asses off in the gym, and leaning on each other for support when we need it. When one feels too tired to work out or too lazy to meal prep properly the other pulls them back. We push each other every day and I can’t imagine having gone through this alone without that support.
    Surgery Day 7/9/19 - 340 & 290 lbs
    Friday 8/9/19 - 271 & 241 lbs
Total loss since surgery- 68 & 49 lbs

That is awesome!! You guys are Bosses!! [emoji123][emoji106]

  13. I’m just sitting up and stretching when I feel the burn. My surgeon says he anchors the stomach to one of the ribs for some reason. Maybe to keep it from twisting while it’s healing. I know he almost didn’t do the surgery because my liver was so huge and he had trouble getting to my stomach. Right now I’m using a gastric band support belt and it’s helping a lot.
My doctor told me that if I did not follow the liver shrinking diet to a T, he would have to move my liver out of the way to get to my stomach which would result in additional pain. I followed his instructions and did not have any extra pain aside from the large incision where my stomach was removed. He said that incision has the most stitches to prevent a hernia, thus the pain when moving/stretching/walking. When they did the leak test, it did not show my stomach attached to my rib [emoji119].

  14. I keep meaning to tell yall! These are DELICIOUS! I got them from target and I was impressed by the taste. Normally Protein Bars taste like Protein and gritty. Not really sure what Birthday cake is suppose to taste like but they remind me of girl scout Samoas because its a coconut taste (I love coconut) to them. They are super soft! Seriously! I feel like I'm eating a cookie/dessert. 20g Protein and 1g sugar... cant get any better then that! 20190811_200603.thumb.jpeg.4a67dcf9a4f65ccd38100a1f1855b627.jpeg

  15. I am looking forward to being healthy. To be able to keep up with my 5 yo grandson and 10 mo granddaughter. I'm looking forward to enjoying activities like biking, hiking, running, squats and exercise in general. I'm also looking forward to finally getting married to my soulmate next Spring. I've waited 12 yrs because I refused to marry him until I lost the weight. He has been my rock and my biggest cheerleader! No matter what was happening with my body, he was there to take care of me through all my ailments. He has been there through all my insecurities, making me feel special and loved. I'm beyond blessed to have such a loving and caring family and circle of friends in my life!!
