Pus in and around one incision?

My follow-up is next week, which is why I didn't just wait/have them look at it. Turns out they want me to come in today Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. Before I go any further, I have a message in at my surgeon's nurse line and I have an appointment next week. Hi! I am a little over a month from my sleeve and one of my incisions (not one of them that should be imo lol) has pus in it and leaking out of it a little. It has been the slowest to heal and is still pretty red around the outside. It hurts a little, more than my other incisions for sure (which are all basically just scars now), but it's not crazy. Has anyone had this happen? What will they do for me? Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

    ITCHING

I was SUPER itchy post op starting at about 1 1/2 weeks out and it is starting to get markedly better now at a month out. My incisions were so DRY. I live in the midwest so we have very dry winters and it has been really hard not being able to put lotion on my belly Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. What are your favorite meals? My dietitian is woefully underinformed about meat replacements, which I find surprising. I'm a vegetarian because I've found through elimination that it helps my autoimmune disorder, and also because I feel good about it! Just looking for some quick, high protein low carb, ideas. 5. 1. Is this possible? 2. Should I call my surgeon? 3. Am I just a big baby? I'm not having attacks yet but I have this stitch in my side that showed up a few days before Christmas. I was actually feeling really good up until that point. Now I don't know what it is or if I should be concerned about this nagging pain? Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

I feel so stupid right now....

I am only in soft foods but I am still a foodie and present that whole eat to live/live to eat dichotomy. I HAVE found that I am spending more time analyzing flavors and textures than I was before, which made my chrismas dinner really interesting, and still 100% satisfying. Wondering[emoji848]

Probably you can have some tender grilled chicken! There are a ton of soups out there as well that are hearty and fill you up Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. There isn't a way to spot reduce, but toning your belly should make it feel better and should help you keep your abs in. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. Hi folks - I know about fat loss triggering higher estrogen levels, but I am now 20 days post-op and I have been on my period for 19 of those days, starting day 2 of post-op. Has this happened to anyone else? Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
  10. It really depends on your situation, your insurance (down to the specific plan, not just carrier), and your surgical team. This is a personal anecdote, but I was close to the cutoff the whole time, but actually gained about 20lbs through the first 3 months of my 6 month diet because I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and had to be on a 3 month course of steroids. Nobody on my team was all that concerned, but they did make it clear that in the last 3 months they wanted to see some kind of change - statistically, you are more likely to have a successful surgical resolution if you manage to lose even a little bit of weight beforehand. Side note, most insurances, when you apply for surgery, take into account only your pre-op BMI. Some real tips I found helpful - start focusing on protein and getting in 50-70 grams of protein a day. It is good practice for post op. Buy a bunch of different protein shakes (look for shakes that are low in calories and very low in carbs/sugar and high in protein) and try them. Find a set few that you think you like and start incorporating those into your diet, but be sure to give yourself kind of a selection after surgery because what worked for you pre-op might not work post-op. Logging and mindful eating with actual goals is huge. You should be logging after surgery until you can reliably get in your 70-80 grams of protein per day, so getting in that habit is super important. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Barimelts???

I'm supposed to take my fusion vitamins 4 times a day, and I have a sleeve. I want to only take them twice a day lmao Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
  12. I'm on chewables, and they actually taste better than my vitamin but still, the minute they hit my gut they want to come back up Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Post-Op Menstruation Issues

I'm glad to hear that it's been heard of before. I am confused about it because I didn't have PCOS (at least nobody ever diagnosed me with it!) and I've never really had problem periods but it is definitely making me miserable. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

    2 Weeks Post-Op - Depressed, Discouraged

I had my surgery the 2nd and I have been weepy a couple of days just mourning life in general and being overwhelmed at my new normal/abnormal. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
  16. What is it with the calcium pills??? They make me sick EVERY TIME I have tried to take them. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
  17. I wish I was bottomless pit for protein shakes lol but I feel pretty bottomless when it comes to clear, thin liquids. I can eat an entire sugar free popsicle, a whole bowl of broth, a bottle of water, etc. As soon as it gets some thickness I have to slow down though. I am 2 weeks and 2 days out Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
  18. I had a wedge pillow already for GERD and it definitely helped, but the worst part for me was actually getting up and laying down - I had terrible pains in my abs from using them to shift position. I am 2 weeks and 2 days out now and sleeping relatively normally, including sleeping on my stomach. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Vegetarians(or Vegans!)

What are your favorite Burger replacers? Meat replacers in general? I usually use Morningstar Chicken, and I fluctuate between burgers because I feel like every time I have a good one, I go and have a bad one from the exact same brand so I am ALWAYS changing up.

  22. Hello all! I am new here. I went in for my second medically supervised diet today, and my Nurse Practitioner LOVED the custom layout I made for myself! I figured I would share it with everyone with an offer - if you want me to customize for you, I can do that! Hopefully this makes your days just a little bit brighter! I can also make a fillable PDF if anyone prefers to fill them out on their computer and print them! What can I say, I am tech-savvy! Bariatric Planner.pdf

First Pre-op Diet Weigh In Blues

This isn't the exact same thing, but I have an autoimmune disease and was put on steroids approximately 10 days after my last appointment for my medically supervised diet, and I have gained weight - like 5lbs - since I was last in. Because I'm ravenous because that's what steroids do. I think it's up to you about lifting weights, but I know my friends who have had the surgery have said that they should have conditioned their core and back a little more to be able to support just how weak you are after abdominal surgery! Maybe do just bodyweight exercise?
