    Me and the Hubs

    From the album: Before

My husbands company paid for a conference in Amelia Island, Florida at the Ritz Carlton. It was fun, but the worst part was the last night- formal night. The dress was tight and didn’t fit well.... it was terrible. My husband was miserable as well because it was HOT and they were required to wear a suit and tie.

    DC Trip

    From the album: Before

I had been toying with the idea of seeking help for a long time. I took this trip in May and all the walking KILLED me. I wore compression socks (shown) because I started getting a rash from all the swelling. This is a picture of me in the Capital with Alexander Hamilton.

    It

    From the album: Before

This is THE photo... well a collage of photos. I’m a teacher and we were having an assembly. I was a speaker in the assembly and a parent took these and posted them to social media. YUCK!

    REGRET

BlueAngelEyes- get a new therapist! My GP wasn’t supportive so I fired him. Sorry, I don’t have time for that nonsense. It’s my life, my health and just because he can run a half marathon doesn’t mean he is the expert of massive weight loss!!

    What Food Is Your Kryptonite?

Krispy Kreme donuts. I can’t even smell them or I want 12. 😑

    What was your moment?

Two things- I’m Amanda BTW. I forgot to introduce myself. I’m more of a lurker but I’m learning. 2- homeboy in front is hiding half of me.... shutter.

Agreed! I hope you find your answer!

Anthem BCBS denied my surgery [emoji22]

I have BCBS as well but I was told my 6 months had to be with someone other than my surgeon. BCBS of GA doesn’t cover at all, but my husbands company is out of another state which DOES cover (PTL!)... don’t know if this is an insurance requirement or something my surgeon requires.

    Hobbies

Before you buy one, see if there is a place you can rent one and try it out first. We have a place near where I am and it’s $16 a day. Not bad if you get there at 10 when they open and turn it in right before they close at 6- we ride to downtown and back- 7 miles one way.... mostly flat. Still need to lose weight before I can go again.

    Oh the places you'll go!

We have a cousin that works in DC and had an “in”... we are going to let him handle it. 😉

I haven't told anyone about my surgery

I’ve told my boss that I am starting this process, but she is amazing and super supportive. I’m not telling any coworkers and I’m not worried that my boss will.... I’ve told my mom and dad but I’m on the fence about my husbands family. They are super judgmental and bossy. They’d try to talk me out of it so I would still be the fat one in the family.... sorry, I’m not here to bolster your ego!

Repeat Rant - It's LOSE not LOOSE!

When you can tell it’s not a typo, yes. It drives me bonkers on any sort of communication.

    Oh the places you'll go!

My daughter is obsessed with history, presidents, DC in general. We have a cousin who works there and I’d like to tweaked her before they move away. It’s a LOT of walking, and the last time I went I about died. I’d also like to go to take my girls on a cross country drive to add states to their totals (they currently have only been to 5).

    Hobbies

My husband and I used to geocache when we dated. I’d like to try that again because it involves hiking. I’d also like to get a bike and start riding. I loved it as a kid! I’m at the beginning of my journey so this is still pipe dream stuff for me!

I’m in Augusta, GA but grew up in Raleigh, NC. Just getting this ball rolling and loving this site.

I live in Augusta! Dr Jacome will be my surgeon

    Oy Vey! What mixed signals!

YES! I’m this way with my husband as well. He has more twists and turns than a roller coaster. First he was on the fence because he was able to lose 160 lbs, why couldn’t I? Then he was for it, then he was calling it the chicken way out. I need to do this for me, and luckily I have a great support of neighbors and friends who support me. Right now he’s onboard but with his flipping sides, I’m nervous. I also know that once I get the surgery he will be supportive of my new eating habits because he needs support as well.... it’s just the recovery period I’m worried about. My mother is planning to come stay to back me up and drive me around.

    Referral Received!!

Mine was exactly what Mom_of_Chaos described. It went over EVERYTHING, including what is covered, not covered and oh yeah, they scheduled all the requirements already. Very informative.
