  1. Thanks Molly and libra. I'm sorry you guys are going through some rough times too. I also agree about chocolate relieving stress better then working out. hehehe. So does ice cream! Last night I saw a commercial for the new chocolate covered strawberry sundae at Dairy Queen and about DIED! hahaha. I wanted to jump in the car right then and go get one. I was good... I fell asleep on the couch instead. hahaha. We burn calories while sleeping, right?

Boy I have really slowed down all of a sudden with my weightloss. I have noticed though that since my birthday I have been running behind the wagon but can't seem to get back on it. I had a total breakdown on my birthday missing my mom. After she died I was on anti depressants for the first year and then went off them so this year it's like I'm finally dealing with it and my birthday was super hard for me. Since then I've had this slight depression and I'm eating carbs and sweets and ICE CREAM and I can't seem to knock it off. You'd think the warmer weather and sun would motivate me. I need to snap out of it.

I have started walking over a mile on my 30 minute lunch several days a week. Hopefully that will get me going. I just need to stop eating bad again. I am still losing though, just really slowly!

Wanted to thank you gals again for being here. I feel lucky to have your support. You're all doing so great! I plant to try and get down to twoterville by my one year bandiversary. It's time to kick it in GEAR!!!!!

  3. Molly. I had that happen at a pure romance party. The host made nacho dip with velveeta cheese and as long as it was hot it went down fine but then it started cooling and thickening up and then it got stuck. I had to go into the bathroom and threw up twice! I'm steering clear of velveeta from now on. The only cheese I can use for nacho's is that nacho cheese whiz stuff that is already super liquid and I had a little bit of milk to it when I heat it up to make it even more so. Tastes great!

  4. About the Gift. If $80 is out of your budget for someone you haven't seen in 10 years, then I'd go to the site of the store they are registered with and have a gift card for whatever you find appropriate sent to them so then if there's something there that they really wanted but didn't get they can apply your giftcard towards purchasing it.

  5. Thank you Lapbandit. I'm not really that upset about the 3 pounds. Just a bump in the road. result of having a little too much fun! hehehe.

I do have a NSV that I am overjoyed about! I finally weigh less then my husband for the first time EVER! I can't remember the last time I weighed less then my significant other. It's a great feeling!

  6. Hang in there Molly! I gained 3 this week too. We'll kick those 3 pounds butts and get back in gear. I'm sorry to hear about your pill. Haven't you had pill issues before?

I've gotten a pill stuck once but it lasted like 15 min.

did you see they now offer birth control pills that are chewable? Those are like the smallest pills already. hahaha

I was down to 336 but I gained back 3 pounds over the weekend thanks to celebrating my birthday a little too much! strawberry margaritas can do that to a girl! I'm back on the wagon now though.

    Everyone is doing great!!!

  8. I went in on thursday morning at 6am. I was the first patient and had surgery at 8am. Was in my room by noon. Was up walking right away. Shared my room with a woman that had shoulder replacement. She was very nice. At night they give you pain meds that help you sleep.

My hubby slept on the couch in the waiting area in the middle where the tv was. The next morning I got to go down and get my barium swallow done and came up and had my popcicle and Jello and milk. At 1pm Dr. Bout visited me and said I looked great. Then I was out of there by 2pm. Back to work 2 days later.

  9. Hey Mike! The good news for you is it seems the weight loss for men with the band goes VERY fast. A guy in my small town had it done and weighs about the same as you do and he lost 50 pounds after one month, it's taken me 7 months to lose 50! hehe.

I had the gas for a few days after surgery but it wasn't too bad and it was totally worth it. You're making a great choice! That first month on liquids will go by quickly and you'll surprise yourself at how creative you become with liquids. hehe.

The hording food is common. They call it "last supper syndrome" I had it BAD! I'd sit at work and think of all the stuff I will never have again (not true) and I'd pick which thing I was going to go have after 5pm. It was horrible!

The hardest thing for me to give up has been pepsi and the occasional beer. I miss them both. But again it's so worth it and I'd rather live my life without pepsi or beer then be 393 pounds again.

Good luck and I look forward to seeing how you progress. You'll do great! Welcome to a whole new life!!!

  10. Hey Jenn! I am one of Dr. Boutts patience. I love him! He's so funny!

I had my surgery on a Thursday morning at 8am, on Friday at 2pm I went home and on Monday morning I was back in the office. It was really much easier then I thought it'd be. You'll do great! I did have gas but it wasn't the worst thing in the world. I did a lot of walking. I just took the pain meds the first two nights to help me sleep. After that I haven't touched them.

  11. *Josette runs through LBT screaming hysterically!!! WAIT... I gotta calm down! Change is hard to deal with but it'll be good in the long run. It'll all be ok People! If we have to relearn how to do some things or put up with errors for a few days, so be it! None of us are paying for this wonderful website. Hang in there. Alex is working to make it bigger and better for us all!

Thanks Alex! I LOVE the new colors!!!

  14. Good Afternoon ABCers! Robin, I'm so glad you went in. My doctor said there are so many people that suffer in situations like that thinking it'll change or get better and then it's too late. I'm glad you went in! My doctor asks us how many times we've PB'd and if it's anything close to frequent he makes a change. I think I PB maybe once or twice a month now. At my last appt on Tuesday I was finally down 53 pounds! I made it past the 50 mark FINALLY!!! I lost 11 pounds since the last appt 6 weeks ago so I'm pretty happy. 2 pounds a week. I'd lose more if I could motivate myself to work out more.

  15. I endorse the Lapband Center of Michigan in Port Huron also. Dr. Boutt is my HERO!!! I love that man!

I had a seminar with Dr. Deol first and there were several questions about fee's in the seminar and nobody said a word about the $800 manditory support group fee prior to surgery. I found out on here the day before my consult so I called up Rebecca in the office and she was snotty about it and told me that yes there is an $800 support group fee, plus 200 for dietician, 150 for psych eval because you have to use their people PLUS $250 for the consult. I said "what if I had got there for my consult and found out about all these hidden fee's and knew I couldn't afford it, would I get my $250 consult fee back?" she said "nope, nonrefundable... and the fee's AREN'T hidden!!!" So I told her I wouldn't be coming there. I went to Port Huron and the ONLY fee I have ever paid was $100 for consult fee and $50 hospital fee. Everything else was totally covered and I've never been happier!

  16. Hey Roger! Welcome to Lapbandtalk! I'm in Lansing, MI. I had my surgery in Port Huron at the Lapband Center of Michigan. Best thing I ever did! make sure you write down any questions that come to mind and take them with you to the seminar or consult. Good luck!
