    What kind of pets?

I have two dogs. One 3 year old purebred german shephard named Liberty because I got her the night the war in Iraq started and she's my big baby! I looooooooooooooooooooove her. My other is a 8 month old german shephard and yellow lab mix named Mason after the city we got him in. He's my big goofy boy. We also have a big black cat named L'Roar which is a goofy name my mom gave him. He was my mom's cat. He appeared on her porch on christmas night probably 5 years ago while me and my mom were sitting in the living room watching a movie. I noticed him on the window sill outside and so she went out to see him and my dad yelled "DON'T YOU FEED HIM OR HE'LL NEVER LEAVE!" and next thing you know my mom's got christmas ham out there. hahaha. And he NEVER left. When I bought my first house 3 years ago he moved in with me and he's been mine since. I call him BIG kitty because he's huge.

    What do you drive?

When I met my husband he drove a 1980 oldsmobile nightyeight. It was HUGE and painted fire engine red. It was in great condition. I used to refer to it as the BIG RED GHETTO SLED! hahaha. He called it "Clifford the big red dog" hahahaha. I'll have to post a picture of that on here. He know drives a 98 dodge dakota that's dark purple black. I refer to it as the Barney truck, much to the hubbies dismay. He says "it's not PURPLE. It's amethyst" hahaha

Where are all the Michigan people at??

I think Dr. Deol is great and wish I had the funds available to make her my choice again, but I just don't. When I went to the semiar there were a lot of questions about fee's, etc. Nothing was ever said about a $800 fee for support group required prior to having the surgery. The only thing mentioned was the fee for nutritionist and psych eval. I would have been very stuck if I had went to the consult and dropped $250 to find out I couldn't afford the $800 support group for a long time and then there's nothing I could do to get the $250 back. I went to the seminar for Port Huron after that and at the seminar they gave everyone a sheet that detailed everything and the costs and if it's not covered by insurance or might be, etc. I found that very helpful in figuring out what to expect in the months ahead.

What did you wear on surgery day?

my plan is to wear very loose workout pants and a big button down shirt, flip flops, NO bra..hahaha
  16. I have my appt with my surgeon tomorrow. Everyone is telling me to write down my questions now so I don't forget to ask. Problem is I can't think of any questions. They were answered in the seminar and I have researched this for over 6 months and I've learned SO MUCH from this website alone. Are there questions any of you asked at yours or any that you forgot to ask and wish you had? Gimme some ideas here. I'm blank for some reason and can't think of a thing to ask. Thanks!!!
  17. I'm sending mine out this weekend. Still brain storming what I want to send. hehe

Anyone wear a medical id bracelet?

I think this is a great idea but I'm having a difficult time with it because I am choosing not to tell people about my surgery. How do I keep it to myself and wear the bracelett? I seriously was considering getting a small tattoo on my stomach with the medical allert symbol since I know I'll never get to wear a bikini anyways. Is that too outragous?

Hey Amy! Well I had attempted to go through the local hospitals weight management Optifast system where I had to be on a liquid diet (protien shakes) the ENTIRE summer last year and they did an entire body mass work up and all that fun stuff and said that with my bone structure being large and being 6'1" that I'd probably look and feel very comfortable around 220 or 240 even. So I don't plan to try too hard to get to "onederland" because I'd probably be looking skeletal. hehehe. "Twoferland" is just fine with ME! :clap2:

Adult Content XXX - Intimate problems

a friend of mine got one of those new IUD's called Medema (I think) after the birth of her child a year and a half ago. She chose that because the husband was too lazy to use condoms and she didn't want to use anything like the pill or shot because she was breast feeding so after a lot of convincing herself she went and got it and says it's the best birthcontrol method she's ever used and would recommend it to all women. It can stay in for 5 years. she said it was done on an in office visit and the discomfort was no worse then having a papsmear.

    Writing A Eulogy

I had to do my mom's back in October and it really just flowed out of me. Everyone was pretty impressed. I just took some time thinking about her life and what she was proud of most about her life. I started it out by saying "I'd like to thank everyone for coming...I don't have to stand up here and tell you how amazing and wonderful my mother was.... you're here because you know this already..."

My name is Josette and I'm 31. I live in Lansing Michigan and I've been married a year and a half. We have no children yet due to this pesky PCOS. At the moment we have 2 dogs whom I love beyond words. One is a pure bred german shepherd named Liberty and the other is half german shepherd and half yellow lab named Mason. I also have a huge black cat named L'Roar (don't ask) that was my mom's cat and ended up being mine. He's been a great comfort to me since she passed away. I've been pretty devasted without her for the past 7 months and I'm hoping getting this band and losing some weight will give me a whole new positive outlook on life. I'm looking forward to it. I'm having my surgery done at the LapBand Center of Michigan in Port Huron. There are two doctors and they only do lapband and they have over 3000 surgeries combined under their belts. I have my consult with Dr. Boutt this coming Thursday June 15th and at that meeting I get to schedule the date for my surgery. YAY! I'm currently around 385 and I'm 6'1". I think I'll leave it at that for now. I'm so glad to meet you all! :clap2:
