  1. @Frustr8 Thank you for sharing and the encouragement ❤️

I know I won't regret having surgery but have just been nervous about dealing with any potential flares while off my arthritis medications.

I have read a bunch of study's done that talk about medications being more effective post bariatric surgery but so great to hear you've experienced that yourself!

  2. Hey everyone. So I haven't been keeping up to date on everything that's been posted for the last 3 weeks or so... I was dealing with stress, nerves and a bit of depression related to my own surgery so had to take a step back.

That being said my love and support goes out to all you wonderful people ❤️

What triggered my stress was actually receiving confirmation of my surgery date... got confirmation and realized looking at the calendar it was 3 weeks away! While I knew we were aiming for late June for it to suddenly be coming up was intense.

My surgery is Wed June 26th at 7:00 am!! Feeling much better about it and while still nervous looking forward to getting it done at this point.

Thanks everyone for being so encouraging with sharing your own journey's.

    Hi Everyone!

Just a quick update, Had my RNY yesterday and am still in the hospital. I am doing well, pain is managed and I have been able to get some Fluid in. Might get to go home later.

The only excitement was that the entire hospital lost power for 45 minutes right in the middle of my surgery! I guess they quickly unplugged everything and plugged into a generator. I, of course, didn't know any difference. LOL!

Anyway, glad to be on the other side and I will update later. :)

Sending good wishes to all my June surgery siblings!

Wow! Happy that everything went smooth for you even with the excitement. Sending best wishes you that you continue to improve and get home soon ❤️

    Hi guys,
I officially started this journey on March 12, 2019 & as of yesterday, I am scheduled for RNY on June 18th. Super excited as I considered it for almost 2 years & no matter how much I tried to lose weight on my own, I was never really successful. With this tool, I feel like I can get back healthy & strong for the first time in a LONG time. I’m only 30 & my doctor put the fear of God in me when I was put on HBP meds at this age & told me I was pre-diabetic. I cried and called my mom because I saw the effects of these things on my parents and grandparents.
Anywho, I’m excited, super anxious & nervous!

I totally understand your journey, surgery has been something thats been brought up over the past almost 4 years for myself as I continually had issues losing and keeping weight off...

I was diagnosed pre-diabetic at 15 and have arthritis so this chance to get my overall health better is super exciting!

I also wish they talked more about the Hair loss. I've lost about 40-50% of my hair. Started at 3 weeks and hasn't stopped since. I *think* it is slowing down? I also exploded with badddd acne. Lasted about 5 months. Is clearing up well now.

Whey never made me nauseous pre-op, but post-op whey isolate anything makes my stomach hurt so bad. Hunting good soy options in the beginning was tough, but they are out there. Now I eat some Snacks with whey in them.. and just suffer quietly. lol. No one told me whey ISOLATES could hurt.

quick advice on the Hair loss issue... if you are interested in extensions etc then have a look at Evawigs.com ... I've dealt with major hair loss from alopecia for years and love the wigs I get from them... but hopefully the issue resolves itself for you!

what good soy options have you found?

  6. Hi. My name is Talitha and I'm a 21 year old university student having a gastric sleeve done soon. I'm tentatively booked for June 26th.

Yesterday I took what will be my last shot of my arthritis medication (Cosentyx) for 2 months as I had to have my last pre-op dose one month before surgery and I won't be able to restart until 1 month post-op.

I also take an anti-inflammatory (Celebrex), my surgeon said he wants me off that 5 days pre-op and likely 1-2 months post-op depending how I am healing.

I'm just curious how other people have dealt with being off medications for issues like arthritis... any advice on what you experienced / tips of things that helped would be appreciated
