I have one kid. I'm 26 5'8 around 240 pounds but I have always been up and down in weight. 2 years ago I was T 164 my lowest weight. I know I can lose weight on my own but after I had my baby it has been so hard. the scale just keeps going up

Thanks for the replies. I'm scared to have a sleeve done and down the road regret not getting the bypass done.

Thank you so much for your honest response. I'm glad I joined this forum to get good responses from people like you. I'm researching now and have been for a couple of weeks. I really have to dig deeper to find what's appropriate for me thank you for responding.

We can't tell you what surgery you need but I would choose what your heart is telling you! I will be praying for you ...

Hopefully you have a good program that educates you about the different options. You should along with your surgeon be able to make a choice that best suits your medical needs.
I had a class that I had to attend to start things off that gave me two options, sleeve or gastric bypass. The surgeon spoke to the class with illustrations on a projector and took questions about both procedures.
I then went home and started a 6 month diet that was laid out in detail by a nutritionist. During the 6 months before my face to face with the surgeon, I had lots of time to think about the pros and cons of both surgeries.
During the 6 month diet, I would become dead set on the sleeve then read or hear something that changed my mind and I would start feeling like the bypass was the best choice. It kept going like that for about 2 or 3 months until I watched so many YouTube videos and read so many articles and forums that I decided on the bypass.
Whatever you do, make sure you go into this educated and you are not pushed into making a decision based only on what one doctor says. I don't know if it will happen but I would like to go the rest of my life without another major surgery. I was determined to get this right the first time. Take it slow, do your homework and make sure you are putting your trust in a reputable center of excellence.

If you do not have a medical need for bypass, do the sleeve. Less malnutrition/absorption issues with the sleeve.
But you gave us no info - age, weight, are you done having children, how many years have you been obese, do you have lots of emotional eating habits, are your triggers sugar, etc

Helloz, I'm new to this and actually super excited after reading a lot of you guys' post.
I actually have tons of questions about the surgery, but I wanted to ask here if anyone has ever traveled out of the states and howd it go. And how long where you guys there before you came back.
I'm really eager to find out. It's time for me to do something about my obesity
