  1. I can tolerate the bullet proof unflavored Protein in anything...
Muscle milk is my new coffee’s creamer...great amount of protein per serving.
Your taste buds will change after surgery. I loved the protein Water before surgery, but can’t stomach it since the surgery. Same with Premier Protein, I can’t stomach most of the flavors now after surgery.
Yeah, I'm not buying in bulk for that reason lol. I might just buy different brands and flavors to try!

  2. What are the best tasting Protein Drinks or mixes? I am preop and will be starting my liquid diet on the 6th. I also meet that day with my surgeon, nutritionist and nurse for preop work. My nutritionist will give me a list of acceptable things for =my liquid diet.

I have tried Premier Protein (strawberries and creme) and fairlife (30g chocolate milk protein), both of them tasted horrible. I am planning on asking them if I can drink Protein Water or add the protein to coffee but I wanted to get a list of everyone's favorite flavor or brand of protein mixes/drinks.

  3. Welcome to the Class of 2020 as @Greeteal calls it, lol. Our January family is growing and getting very close. Are you excited, nervous, or etc.? Do you know if you have to liquid diet, if so joe long?
Thank you! I'm excited. I'm so ready to love myself, and feel better! I do have to do liquid diet, it's for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after. I go for my pre-OP work on 1/6. But if I remember correctly, after the post-OP liquid diet, I'll be on puree's for 3 weeks, then soft foods for 2 weeks and regular food for a week to see if I can tolerate it. But I'll find that out for sure on my preop appointment!

  4. I was defered by the psychologist the day of my pre-op (witch was cancelled) then left in limbo for a month not getting any direction or help from the surgeons office untill I showed up requesting all my medical records and informed them I was switching to another doc. Two weeks later I was sleeved . My Surgeon is awsome ! Glad it worked out for us both!
My surgeon is 2 hours away or I would have paid them a visit but I'm glad that it worked out for us both as well! :)

  5. Hate to say I told...
I was more so just frustrated because I went 2 weeks without knowing the progress. I would call and ask but they would just email the patient coordinator. She would just email me back and say "no update". I was also worried/scared that I wouldn't get approved. She told me 7-14 days before I'd get an answer but we submitted it on the 16th and got my approval today, the 20th! So it's a big relief! Thank you! Lol

  6. I would say just before Years End or in the first days of January. But What a Wonderful worthwhile Way to start the Year of 2020.
And all of us will be praying for you and a Bright Bright Future.
And I am not sorry for MINE- if you went back and read my journey you'd see I was eminately qualified to be bitter with all my freaky unexpected twists and turns. But it's been 16 and a half months, like the Big Lebowski in the Movie "I ABIDE" and joys do outweigh the sorrows, I'm now less than half the size I was when I started, smaller than I was at 14 or 15, which was nigh on to 60 years ago, I don't recognize me in the mirror- somebody accused me last week of trying to pass my sister's ID- difficult when You're an Only Child- yep That's Me THERE, just 180+ pounds ago. So it is a Brave New World but I think I'll see how LIFE goes on! God Bless Darlin' and keep us updated, you hear?[emoji13][emoji106]
Exactly! What a way to start the new year. Every step was worth it! New year, new me.. literally [emoji28] I know everything will be worth it in the end and I will be healthier and happier. I'm glad you're making good progress. Keep it up! I'll make sure to update yall. Thank you!

  7. Update: She called me yesterday because she was about to submit it to my insurance when she realized I needed to do a video session with the dietitian because it was recommended during my psyc eval but for some reason, it was never set up for me to do. So I did that quickly yesterday! The dietitian is excited to work with me and thinks I will do great with the surgery. So now I am just waiting on my patient coordinator to receive the information from my dietitian before she can submit it to my insurance! Fingers crossed that it will be today!

  8. I got a message today from the nurse at my surgeon's office saying she was reviewing my labs and saw that my B12 is low. So at least I know they're reviewing my chart! They may be slowing reviewing it, but that's the first update in 2 weeks! Fingers crossed I hear something later this week!

  9. Maybe you failed the psychologist evaluation . They use that to deny Medicaid patients when you pass every other test all the time..

I passed it. The psych that my surgeon uses, tells you after your eval if you passed or not. It's just taking them forever to review my chart. We haven't sent it to my Medicaid yet because the team has to approve it to make sure I'm surgery ready, then they send it to my insurance to get approval for surgery. I think it's taking a while due to it being the holidays.

  10. *Try* to be patient, the approval wait time is a very hard purgatorial period. Trust that since review has begun and you have piped up/asked questions you will not be forgotten. Check in again before the end of the year to make sure you don't slip through the cracks but Nov/Dec are hard months for progress with the holidays.
    Good Luck :780_sparkling_heart:
I'm trying my hardest to be patient! I'm just so eager to get healthy and get a stable and secure job. I'll definitely check in before the new year. I feel like since I'm using Medicaid and not a private insurance/employer insurance that they're taking their time since I don't have to worry about deductibles and such!

    Thanks! [emoji178]

  11. I completed my requirements on 11/4 and they didn't start reviewing my chart until 11/22. Two weeks have passed and still nothing. I have contacted them twice and they just tell me there isn't any update. So I asked my patient coordinator how long a review typically takes and she said that there isn't a time limit. -_-

Right now, I am dying to get a job. I currently stay home with my 2 year old and I want to get a job, obviously for money but two things are hindering it: 1) I have no set date until my insurance approves (medicaid). 2) I have horrible joint pain and back spasms so I would need an office job of some sort. Part of me wants to just wait it out but I am annoyed because this whole process is making me want to improve every aspect of my life but I can't get a job due to no set surgery date. I don't want to get a job, only to quit in a month or so.

Any pointers? I am so aggravated and needed to rant!

  12. Oh wow, yeah, that's a long time to wait. I had to do all my requirements in one day (psych eval, meet with a dietician, meet with the doctor, they weighed me and since my BMI was at 40 they said surgery would most likely be approved).. and they submitted to the insurance the next day. That was my one and only doctors appointment I needed to be approved. I feel some doctors have a more lengthy process and I'm not sure why.

I had to have 6 consecutive months of unsuccessful weightloss attempts, the psych eval, endoscopy, sleep study, blood work, upper GI series and 2 nutrition classes.

My BMI is 44.6 I'm 5'4, 260lbs. I don't need any comorbidities since my BMI is 44 but I have 5 comorbidities. Major depression, multiple joint pain, Migraines, GERD and now Diabetes. I'm hoping I'll hear something tomorrow. If not, I'm calling friday!
