  1. So surgery is in 30 hours and I just got most of my bag packed and ready to go. I have these things:
    *CPap
    *chapstick
    *deodorant
*travel sized toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, my biotene, and soap)
*eye mask, small Dove lotion tin
    *A change of panties
    *hairbrush and pony tail holders
I plan on leaving in the clothes I come in with. All in all, i have a small Supernatural backpack that I've fit everything in surprisingly lol except the CPAP lol some of the stuff I'm taking is the same stuff I leave in there anyway lol. I use it as a purse so it can serve 2 purposes. Anything I need, I need to fit in it. Way less **** to keep up with. Oh and my travel pillow will be waiting for me in the car [emoji4] anyone else got anything to add to this?
I enjoyed my house slippers over those I'll fitting socks. You'll be walking a lot. And make sure whatever you're wearing there is nice and loose. :)

  2. Hello I will be getting VSG on August 19th. Does anyone who of any books that can help me deal with change and to help me have the right mind set? I have always been over weight since I can remember and my mom brought up a good point on how I am going to respond to this change and how to deal with it.
I'm reading a book right now called "Bariatric Mindset". Got it on Amazon and I really like it. Very helpful.

  3. Hi Everyone!
Well, it has been about 48 hours since I came out of my RNY surgery. I am feeling really pretty good! I haven't taken anything for pain and I am able to get Water down pretty easy. I have done some walks and I seem to sleep comfortably when I need to. So far. I feel super lucky as far as recovery goes, I expected it to be much worse.
To my fellow June surgery friends- I am sending you all good thoughts in hopes that each of you do well and continue to get better every day. [emoji170]
Yay I'm so happy for you!

  4. Hello June Siblings! My RNY was yesterday. I didn’t know quite what to expect as my last surgery was 35 yrs ago. Very pleasantly surprised. The Bariatric unit staff were great no matter their role on this team.
Got home this evening around 6PM. now having my last full liquid for the day. I was given a Scopolamine patch in Pre-Op yesterday AM. Will take it off tomorrow. So far no nausea. Have been walking as prescribed. Will be glad when all the gas is gone. 🤣🤣
Same! My tummy rumbles soooooo loud at times lol

  5. I am weighing all of the positives versus all of the negatives while trying to make a final decision about surgery. I have been considering the gastric sleeve surgery for years, and am now closer to making decision than I have ever been . The referral has been made and I have scheduled my consultation. So far, just about everything I have researched has me leaning towards going for it except my fear that I won't be able to afford the expense of groceries in the future. Why are healthy foods so expensive? And the Protein and Vitamins expense is scary to think about. I have joint pain, apnea and high blood pressure as well as a rare disease and know that my future health would benefit from the surgery, but I'm so poor! Is bariatric surgery only a solution for people with more substantial finances? (I have insurance and some savings to help with surgery costs). And advice?
Do you have an "Aldi" near you? Their prices are way cheaper than anywhere else. They also have a Protein powder that I believe is very similar to the Unjury, about 90 calories more per serving, but actually has more protein and it's only $14 for a much larger size.

  6. I've got so much sf Jello and sf pudding to make but I dont want to yet. I dont want to get everything prepped and ready and it go bad before I have a chance to eat it. Ugh. I feel like there are a million things I need to get done before surgery so that I won't have to struggle to get anything done post op. So much organizing, cleaning, and prepping that I have to do. Anyone feel like its crunch time now?
I've been slowly grabbing things as I go to the store. I came across these Vitamin Water Zeros and they are so good. I love them cause they have Zero sodium! 20190526_184411.jpeg 20190526_184419.jpeg

  7. Yea my surgeon made the comment that 50% of people who start the journey don’t make it to where we are. So if you’re doubting yourself right now, chew on that. It actually really boosted me from my doubts. I can do this. We can do this. We all want it and want success and a healthier life.
50% wow, I never really thought of it that way. It did take me a while, I inquired about it in Aug of last year and my ins did not req pre reqs but it still took me till Feb to jump in. I had a bad mind set though and ate really bad. Just kept telling myself I better eat this and that because I'll never have it again. Then finally straightened my ass up yesterday. I dont want a fatty liver and then have to open me up. My pre op teaching appt is the 23rd so we'll see what surgeon puts me on then.
