  1. I to am not losing. I lost 10 right after surgery only because I had to gain 10 to have my insurance cover it. So since then I have only lost 5 pounds and that is because I to joined WW to lose. I am so sick of having this band and not losing. Went to the doctor yesterday for a flouroscopy to find out I was too restricted. He took out 1cc. So I am really confused. I was too tight and still not losing but lets take some out so I eat more? The whole point of getting the surgery is to help control hunger. My doctor even told me I should not have to join WW in order to be losing. I guess that is my desperate attempt to make myself feel better so I can lose something. It is so embarassing to have told people, which I know I shouldn't have, that I had surgery and then to see me lose nothing. Talk about lowering ones self esteem. Makes you feel like a big fat loser. HA no pun intended.

I feel the same way about telling people. At first I was emabarrassed to say anything to anyone about even having the surgery. Now it's even worse because everyone knows and I am still big. It is the most frusterating thing ever!!

  2. I keep reading everyone's stories on here and how they've lost so much weight and the band is working great for them. I feel like such a failure. I paid all this money for the band, and have only lost 35 lbs in 9 months. Why can't I do as well as everyone else?! I'm about ready to just give up!:tt1:

Good luck everyone with your future weight loss!

  3. Dr. Avila did my surgery in June, but I have been following up with Dr. Davis. He is new, but he is excellent. I actually like him more than I liked Dr. Avila. I'm glad that you can get the surgery done in IF, but I just wanted to let you know that if you decided to be seen for follow-up closer to home, then Dr. Davis is a wonderful doctor! Good luck with everything!

  4. I was banded in June 2008 and have only lost 35 pounds. I should have lost so much more by now. I cannot stop eating. I choose the wrong foods and have absolutely no energy to exercixe! I do not get full after 1 cup of food and my doctor won't give me another fill. I have 8cc in a 14cc band. He says that I have to decide which foods make me full and only eat those.

Does anyone have any good suggestions to get motivated to excercise and eat differently? Or any suggestions on which foods work the best for you? Any help at all (even constructive criticism) would be appreciated! Thanks

  5. awww....can't we all just get abong?

I would just like to apologize to everyone on this thread who I upset or insulted! I divorced my husband 3 years ago because of marijuana. He was addicted. His pot was more important than his family and he was always smoking in front of the kids. I told him over and over again that if he HAD to smoke, then I wanted him to go somewhere else where our children were not present. When he refused (because it was his house, too) I had to leave with the kids and go elsewhere.

Throughout our marriage, we never seemed to have enough money for bills or other things because all of his money went to buying pot.

One day while I was pulling weeds in the yard, I foung 18 marijuana plants growing in a weed patch on the side of our house. That was the last straw, and I filed for divorce the next day. I did not want to lose my children! I am very passionate about this subject and have seen a lot of lives ruined by "just pot"; however, everyone is right. I should not have come into this thread and started problems by throwing judgements around. Maybe I do just need a hit!:scared2:

Anyway, I am sorry. Everyone have a great day and the best of luck to everyone on their weight loss!!!

  6. I just had my 2nd fill about 1 week and 4 days ago. The 1st week went well as with the 1st fill. But now im starting to want to eat more... and im trying so hard to show self control but its getting harder. Im trying to eat 1 cup of food or less and i still feel some what hungery after but if i sit and rest before i try more food i usually can wait until next meal.

So far i have 2cc in my band and i have lost 76lbs total counting the 23lbs before band that i lost between march 2008 - may21 2008 when i got the band. The other 53lbs is after the band. Im also do for my one a month friend and have had 3 lbs creep back on . I work out everyday also.... so since im working out alot could that be why im more hungery? Or just i need another fill? And if its another fill... is it too soon to get another one? Any advice would be wonderful!!!

    ~~jessica

I'm not trying to discourage you or anything, but I got 4cc's in my band at my first fill, and I am still starving! I know it depends on how big your band is, but don't feel bad about 2cc. I've heard it gets better!

    Best of luck to you!!

  7. Yes Jodi is right...we are healing and can't risk eating/digestion. What happens during this post op phase is different for everyone, however. For example, even after we are healed we are to eat only 3 meals a day. No Snacks. Not all docs are that strict. I have some problem distinguishing what I must not do because it will HURT me, and what I must not do because the nutritionist feels it is inappropriate. If I want to drink Brand X Protein powder with o fat and 19 gms Protein, and no sugar or carbs, then I don't quite understand why I MUST drink her Brand Q Protein Powder with o fa and 19 gms proein and no carbs or sugar. I can't help it; I believe in that saying "Question Authority". I'm compliant for now but I feel a rebellion brewing.

I'm so glad that my doc wasn't that strict. I had my first fill about 2 weeks ago and I am so hungry all the time! I can only eat a little amount at one time, but then I'm hungry again in a couple of hours, so I eat a little more of something else. I am still losing, so I suppose that this is okay. I see my doc again next week, so I am going to see what his advise will be on this.

good luck! And may hunger pangs never bother you again! :crying:

  8. Where do you get off insulting Australian's, no offence to all the other people in this forum, but I only found 2 aussies the rest where american. You are just getting personal now and very offensive. Please just go away into another forum and leave us all alone you clearly don't agree with anything here so no-one really care's what you have to say.

    I'm totally pissing you off aren't I? HeHe:cursing:

  9. obviously Australia is full of ridiculous "pot-heads", because there are so many of you on here. The only reason any of you are so upset about my opinions, is because you are part of the problem. I was just voicing my opinion about drugs, (BTW if you had paid more attention, you would have read that I said alcohol was worse than marijuana), and voicing opinions is what everyone is doing on here. You don't need to get so upset because being overweight is the least of your problems!

  10. I think a lot of people are very ignorant when it comes to smoking pot, let alone all other drugs (including alcohol, which is the worst). I think the reason that you don't seem to know or understand very much, is that they say when you start smoking pot, your brain stays at the same age as when you started. So Jimbo must have started smoking at age 12, because it seems like that is about as much as he knows.

  11. Wow, so many weed smokers! It is horrible and discusting!!! How could so many people ruin their lives with drugs when there are so many better things out there. (and if you can't find them, then you have bigger problems anyway). Marijuana IS addicting, which is why all you people have to have it. If it's not addicting, then why doesn't everyone find something better to do with their time?!

  12. I finally got my first fill at 2 months post-op. My surgeon moved from my state and I had to wait for the new one to get his state license. I thought it would never happen! Anyway, he put in 4cc's and told me that we would recheck in 4 weeks (my band is 14cc's). I felt restriction on the first day, but now I don't feel anything. I can tell when I don't chew well enough and food gets stuck, but I can eat as much as before. Has anyone experienced this after a fill? What did you do if anything?

  13. I am almost 9 weeks post-op and have not yet had my first fill! The doctor who did my surgery moved out of state. The new doctor who came to take his place has not yet received his license to practice in our state and I have had 2 appointments cancelled already.

I had lost 27 pounds before my first-fill appointment, but now I am hungry all the time and have gained 2 pounds back. I don't know what to do! Does anyone have any ideas or words of encouragement? I am extremely frustrated!!!!!:)

  14. One week after I had my surgery, I stepped on the scale and I had gained 4 lbs! I was so upset that I started to cry and even questioned if the doctor had really done the surgery. He told me that it was because of the swelling and the gas. Anyway, I am now 4 weeks post-op and have lost 24 lbs. Don't get discouraged, the weight will come off, I promise!

    Good luck to you!

  15. My doctor told me not to start solids until 4 weeks post-op. My friend had lap band surgery 1 week after I did, and her doctor told her she could start solids after 3 weeks. I see a lot of different things on here; that some can start at 3 weeks and some have to wait until 6 weeks. I am still in the "mushy" stage, but I am starving all the time. I know that my swelling has gone down because I can eat a lot before I actually get full. Anybody else start solids sooner than 4 weeks? Does anyone know why so many doctors give different instructions?

  16. When I first decided to have the surgery, I wasn't going to tell anyone except my husband and mother. They were both very supportive. I didn't even tell my work. They just thought I had the day off because I needed a break. Anyway, once I had the surgery, I was so excited about it, that I started telling everyone. Now, most people know about it, and everyone has been really excited for me. I guess it just depends on how well your support system is.

Good luck to you! Either way, the band is definately worth it!
