Lap-Band patients? Are some of the users Realize Band patients too. I have the Realize band and was cruising through that's why I stopped by to see if anyone else was a Realize band patient.

I'm at day 24 post- op and I have lost about 20 pounds, although I have the Realize Band instead, I figure both are the same. I feel great was able to go back to work on Day 4 post-op. Been on mushies for about a week and half and I'm looking forward to the regular food. although the dr said on mushies I shouldn't eat mashed white potatoes. but instead eat soft baked fish, chicken salad, tuna salad type stuff. i'm looking forward to having a nice little salad with some tuna on top and some Fat Free Italian dressing . I haven't ate anything that is starchy, no peas, or potatoes, except for sweet potatoes which the dr said was ok.
I'm going to start doing my walk away the pounds video this afternoon and then clean house. Next week im going to start going to the gym.
I guess what im trying to get at even though my dr said it was okay to lose weight in the first month he also said it was a time for healing as well. so maybe this is just your body's way of healing itself.

I have this problem as a child all we had was diet pop and milk. no juice or Water (we grew up on a well) just milk and pop, hence i don't care for juice except oj and that kills my belly pre banding and now im worried that if i drink it i will erode my band.
apple and grape juice make me gag and well then it loosens deals on the other end and i can't tolerate that with IBS already.
cranberry just doesn't taste good
and the fusions that they have made are just down right yucky in my opinion.
just wanted to get a little thing going

I want to try it before i go to a fish eating vegetarian i would like to try it once or twice.
also how many of you eat organic or locally grown food?
What have you done to better your lifestyle?
How do you keep your will power?

since surgery. i didn't have to do a pre op diet because i have an insurance that doesn't require one. in fact the first weigh in was lower than the pre op weight.

What made me realize I needed help was :
1. Went on vacation in Vermont to see my hubby graduate from Norwich and the seatbelt on the plane was almost too small.
2. Upon getting there Norwich is a military school therefore the entire campus had no elevators just stairs millions and millions of them and my back and knees hurt everyday.
3.When I got winded playing with my kids and my 5 year old asks me if I'm okay.
4. Looking at myself in the mirror and seeing my pannus hanging over my pubis and feeling ugly.
5.Wanting to be cute but no matter how hard I tried I never felt like it.

Exactly that, in 7 days ill be able to eat mushies and have no clue what they are can anyone help?

big rule in my doc's office no carbonated beverages, they can cause erosion. you band may have slipped as well i would consider asking for a barium swallow.

I've lost 16 pounds the first 9 days after surgery. I'm feel great!!!! I have more and more energy everyday and the satisfaction thing is great. I know once the swelling goes down I'll be more hungry and will have to withstand the pressures of eating but right now I'm in love with my realize band and my doctor is wonderful. I go back on Wednesday for my two week follow up.:tongue2:

Thank you so much for the reassurance. I've just been so scared because the dr said i should only be hoding about 1/4 c of anything in my stomach right now. Which I am but its like I get whoozy after eating my lunch which is usually strained Soup and then I'm actually feeling hungry an hour later.
Any suggestions if I should drink my Protein supplements as my meals and then do strained soup as my Fluid intake as well because I need to get more fluid in too, im only urinating about three times a day (tmi) but I'm a nurse and I know that's not good.

:scared2:I'm so confused. I am having a hard time distinguishing from satisfied to full and I am scared I will stretch my stoma. Is anyone else having this issue? I was banded last week and am on a full liquid diet. This morning I woke up and I had a little bit of a gain and I don't want to hurt myself.
Would it be ok if I just drank my Protein supplements and that be it? I have noticed with the Soup broth I get hungry sooner than if I have my supplement should i just forego the soup and do the supplement and that be my meal for that time?
Any suggestions????
I really need some help please.
Melissa
Thanks in advance

I was banded on Friday the 5th. I have done well was actually ready to go to work this morning until my daughter had a fever of 101 so i had to stay home.
What I'm confused on is the sound my stomach is making. I'm forcing myself to drink and eat because I'm not feeling hungry right now but i know I need to in order to heal, but after like maybe 1-2 oz of something I get nauseated and don't want anymore.
the confusing part is that my stomach is rolling like its dying of hunger and I'm not feeling anything for hunger just pain. Is this normal?

See my dr told me I could go back to work on Monday. I'm having my surgery next Friday. He didn't say anything about any time off or anything. I am a nurse I do walk all day but no heavy lifting or anything.
Should I be concerned about this maybe because of my age I'll have a speedier recovery.....

I was just wondering on how you guys feel now after your surgery and probable fills. Does he fill you during surgery?

I'm getting banded on December 5. I am getting nervous at this point. Any advise?
-
On the 5th of December I will be banded and I am looking forward to it. Anyone out there that has had the band recently have any suggestions on what to do the days before the surgery?
-
Hello. Im new to all this today was my first visit with the surgeon and I'm nervous. I need to get blood drawn and a doppler on my legs plus he wants to do an Endoscopy. I'm not nervous about that I'm nervous about the weeks to come he said anywhere between 30-45 days he would like to do the surgery.
What have you guys done in prepartion for the surgery. My insurance requires no diet pre op or nothing. I have cut out most of my pop and after today I am saying good bye no more. I'm trying to cut out some of the complex carbs like bread, Pasta and rice. I'm trying to implement the Protein supplement into my diet. Is there anything else I should do?
Fills?

When was your first fill? My doctor doesn't want to fill me unless I'm not losing or feeling of not being satisfied.
I will be 4 weeks post op on the 5th, I don't go see the doctor again till the 21st. I feel great, eating a 1/2 cup of mushie food each time. I have overeaten a couple of times but realized afterward how bad it hurt and I certainly do not want to go through that again.
Is this normal for a doctor not to give you a fill at 9 weeks post op? He said he wouldn't do the fill at that time if I wasn't having one of the symptoms.
