    Local Meet Ups

I don't live near you, but I found a WLS meet up for my area on Instagram, so maybe you would have luck there. Or on Facebook.
  2. I didn't get it out of medical necessity- the only weight-related condition I have is PCOS. I got it because I've been fat literally as long as I can remember, and I told myself that 2019 would be the year I did something about it once and for all. I had tried sooooo many different things, but I always regained lost weight and then some. So I had surgery 2/6/19, and I am so happy I did. I have a 5 yr old son, which was one of my biggest motivations for getting the surgery to lose the weight, and I can finally run around with him and do stuff with him and not be instantly tired.

    feeling cold..

Yep, I'm cold so much more now. I don't mind cause I live in Texas, and it's hotttttt haha

    Frustrated, need advice.

Get another opinion for sure. That sounds like bs.

Question About Preparing for Post Sleeve

I didn't buy any special dishes or measuring devices since I have a 5yr old and just use his plates and bowls now haha. I stocked up on protein shakes (Premiere Protein is my fav, but Muscle Milk is okay too), Gatorade/Powerade Zero, Propel Water, and soups.

    New around here

Congratulations, and great job on the weight you have already lost before and after surgery! I noticed I had a lot more energy after surgery, which also surprised me because of how few calories I was consuming right after. I am coming up on 5 months post-op now, and it stills amazes me how drastically different my energy levels are now vs before I had the surgery. Good luck on your journey!
  7. I liked regular water a lot more before surgery too, and I used to prefer it cold. Now it hurts my stomach if it's too cold, and I have to add some kind of flavor mix a lot of the time.

How much weight did you lose before people noticed?

Not quite sure, but probably 20-25 lbs.
  9. I wish I had known how real the struggle would be with constipation... lol TMI maybe, but I'm sure most people who have had the surgery would agree. I was someone who NEVER had issues pre-surgery, so I was surprised when I had to start using products to go. It makes sense, but it wasn't on the list of things I talked about with my surgeon pre-op haha.
  10. Mine was steak I believe. It was amazing even if I was only able to eat like 3 bites.

    Energy after surgery?

I had VSG on 2/6/19, and I can definitely say I have a lot more energy now than I did before surgery. I'm sure that's due to various factors, but the point is that even with the extremely reduced calorie intake I'm feeling good. Before surgery I was tired ALL THE TIME. I have hypothyroidism and PCOS (plus a 5yr old who likes to wake me up in the middle of the night still), but even right after surgery I could tell a difference in my energy level. I get B12 shots from my surgeons office monthly, so that probably helps too.
  12. I have PCOS, and I had VSG on 2/6/19. Believe me, I had this fear in the back of my mind all the way up until the day I had surgery. This fear still nags at me, but I am 14wks post-op and am down 36lbs from the day of my consult, which was less than a month before my surgery date. I just had my 3m follow-up with my surgeon today and met the goal he set for the appt (168lbs). I'm still scared that it's all too good to be true and that the weight will just come back, but I'm working hard to make sure that doesn't happen.

    Outpatient sleeve

Maybe the standard varies by state or something, but it seems the standard for the majority of surgeons in my area is 2 nights in the hospital. According to my surgeon, previously the standard was 1 night, and they saw too many patients coming back due to dehydration within 24hrs. I'm for sure glad I had my 2 night stay.

    What Counts as Water

My NUT told me not to count protein shakes in my 64oz, but any sugar-free caffeine-free liquids could be counted.

    Confession

I've had pizza a couple times since surgery (usually not even a full slice), but it is definitely not as satisfying and doesn't taste as good as before.

    February 2019 Sleevers?

Same here with comparing! I'm down 30lbs as of today at 11 weeks post-op.

If you could close one fast food chain

OoOoO that's an interesting question! Hmmm.. probably McDonald's or Burger King.

    I didn't realize when I lost weight that _____

I didn't realize when I lost weight that I would be so excited about pooping lol. I NEVER had issues being regular pre-surgery, in fact it was usually the opposite because I was on Metformin for PCOS. Also, I didn't realize that I would be cold all the time. Hoping that works in my favor when the Texas summer heat hits.

    "Just Overweight!"

Congrats!! I can't wait to get to that point- it has been YEARS!

    Under 25 and choosing this?!

I'm 28 and just had VSG in February, which was right after my bday. The only person that said anything about my age was my mother, who has also been overweight my whole life and was the last person I expected to get s*** from since she knows my history.

    Birth Control Options

I also have PCOS, so I wasn't on BC before surgery. I just recently had my yearly well-woman appointment and decided to get on BC again since I don't want another child any time soon- if at all. I only have one, but I'm happy with that. My original intent was to get the arm implant because I had a bad experience with the IUD a couple years ago, but she said they see more weight gain with the arm implant and the Depo shot than they do with the pill. So I decided to go with the pill.
  23. Mine didn't. The only thing he had me do was the pre-op liquid diet for 5 days to shrink my liver.
  24. I took Phentermine for several months before I decided to have surgery. It helped control my appetite for sure, but it also gave me mood swings, dry mouth, & completely killed my sex drive.
