I'm having my sleeve in conjunction with a hiatal hernia repair, which I've been told is very common. I'd like to hear from folks who have had this combination, particularly about your recovery & pain afterward. I'm wondering if there are more complications or pain than without the hernia repair? Any issues?

I had gastric sleeve and hiatal hernia repair May 1,2019. It wasn’t too bad. The only thing that bothered me was the gas.

Has anyone every heard of this? There is a book, and workbook to use after surgery to learn "mindful eating." It looks interesting and I was wondering if anyone had ever, or is, using it. It looks interesting, but just wondering if it is worth the $40USD! Everything in it can probably be found on the internet, but I don't think I am going to have the time or energy for that, right after surgery.

Hi. What’s the name of the book? I’m interested in getting it as well!

Good morning lady! Surgery day was horrible because they found & repaired a hernia. The doctor had to fill me with more air to fix the problem. I was in soooo much pain in recovery. The gas was everywhere and I felt restricted. The nurses were great and gave me all the needed meds to get through it. I walked the halls twice at hospital & frlt so much better! How re you feeling??

I had a hiatal hernia repair at the same time as well. The gas pain was hell after surgery.

Has anyone have a BMI of 35-36? What made you all decide to go with the surgery rather then to just do it on your own? I'm at BMI of 36 and cw 203. I have already lost 47 lbs. I just having a hard time loosing more. I just have to think if its worth it to go with the surgery or keep trying on my own. Which is why I wanted to ask for those that did have the surgery at a low BMI. How much have you lost since surgery? Was it worth it to you to go ahead with surgery? My surgeon told me he wants me on their program pre-op diet and to maintain the weight I am at for 1 to 2 months. He will do the surgery, if I do decide to go ahead with it. The psychiatrist said that she is fine with me going ahead with the surgery. She also mentioned I should fix or face what emotional issues I have so that I don't gain the weight back in the future.

I would love to hear about your journey. I want to make a good educated decision and not just go for it without all the details and research!

I had my surgery on May 1st with a BMI of 34. I am 5’3” and was 193 lbs on day of surgery. I am 142 lbs today. So, I’ve lost 51 lbs in almost 4 months. It’s not easy. It’s only a tool and you have to use it wisely.

Just checked the website for ya'll. This is the fruity flavor's nutrition facts. I was told not to introduce Fiber into my diet until I'm at my goal weight as it will plateau me, so I personally wouldn't consider a Cereal like this until then. Especially since Chicory root fiber is a fast digesting fiber, when the goal for adding fiber to a diet is that it will digest slower to keep you fuller/satisfied for longer to curb cravings.

I had my pre op appt. today for surgery on Aug. 20. I have no pharmacy coverage for my insurance. He prescribed 4 meds. for post op. All in liquid form. Walmart price : $1,400.00! One for pain, one for nausea, one for acid reflux & one for prevention of gallstones. I told the pharmacy there was no way I could afford that & I would need to contact my doctor. He changed the 1st. three to tablets - to crush (much more affordable). The last one is $614 per mo. I need to take it for 6 mo. At that time he will remove my gallbladder. He wants to wait on that until that time due to the size of my liver. I spoke with his nurse & was told he said there was no other med. available. When I told her the price she said it was outrageous & she’d speak to him again. Anyone else have issues with their prices of meds? Ideas? I do have an appt. with a gastroenterologist this week & will talk to him also to see if he has something he could recommend to my surgeon.

Have you tried using good rx app?

My surgery was done in Birmingham, AL as an outpatient. After surgery, I spent the night in a nearby hotel and the nurse came by and checked on me and then I saw the doctor the next morning before going home. (Surgery on Thursday returned to work on Monday)
I didn’t have issues with pain and never took any pain medication.
Best decision ever! (Surgery April 2018, down 80lbs)

Which surgeon did yours? I was outpatient in Birmingham too. Dr. Long did mine.

I hope you feel better. That is why you have to use that spirometer thingy after surgery - any surgery.

You said it was the day after surgery I spent the night of surgery in the hospital plus one more night - How did you manage to go home so soon?

I went home 2 hours after surgery.

    Hey guys,

Just popping in the forum to say I am going to be sleeved 06/26/19! I am beyond excited and so ready for this magnificent lifestyle change/journey. I am on day 1 of my 2 week pre-op cleanse and it is hard but I am so determined. For anyone who is unsure if they are ready for the surgery I say make sure you know this is what you want. I was supposed to be sleeved in November but I realized I just wasn't ready for this commitment and post-poned my surgery. I also thought at one point that I just wasn't going to go through with it at all. After months of research and self reflection I am proud to say I am ready to be sleeved. This is such an exciting journey and good luck to all of my June sleevers! ❤️

    Good luck!

I will not be purchasing from this company ever again in the future. My uncle was a dairy farmer in Wisconsin for about 40 years and he never ever treated his cows like this. He was always gentle and loving toward them. This video really makes me sick.

The video made me sick as well. I threw mine in the garbage the other day after watching. Will never buy it again.

OMG, when does this annoying pain stop 👹 from the gas in the left shoulder (6 days post op) Here's what I am doing:

    • Walking
    • Moving the should joint regularly
    • changing position every hour

What can I do to get the Gas out of the should quicker, it's getting better but every little hiccup from the belly causes a pain spike in the L shoulder.

Did you try chewable gas x?

To deal with Constipation I take a half dose of milk of magnesium every 1-2 days. I bought the sugar free non flavored one and got the cherry flavored.
I used the cherry flavored one before but got some reason tonight OMG I thought I had a structure and needed to go to the ER.
It started with a little nausea, stomach cramping then full on shakes, diarrhea and finally I threw up the Milk of mag and felt instantly better. Not 100% but better.

The same thing just happened to me. I thought I was gonna have to go to the hospital

Popsicles, Jello, crystal light and broth will be your best friend. Also, do cream of chicken. That's what I am living on this week for my preop diet.. Surgery 5/13... Hang in there once you get going you will be fine... Just don't watch to much TV during this time due to every 2 seconds of the fast food commercials... Good luck and hang in there....

    Good luck tomorrow!!
